Do so. I'd like everyone to be at 12.4 by the Friday sim.

Done: patch 12.4.27

I'm patched to 12.4.27 as well.

Comment: Although the season is still relatively new, some early observations:

1) Team with good scouting scouting have good farm teams and successful youth in the majors that results in at least an good, early start. I gleen this from perusing the successful teams and see good or outstanding scouts, which starts the ball rolling. My team on the other hand has poor scouting and therefor is struggling (not to lay blame on the Scouts, I'm sure I've done some mis-management. But how bad can one be to really mess with a team this early in the season:) I have fair bats, but my leader in clubhouse as well as the bats and the field was on the 60 day DL, so I'm just now getting prepared for him to come back. Another field leader is out too, but just 15.

My rotation has two good pitchers. Number one in starting rotation and closer. The rest suck. (and therefore many of my close one run loses).

2) This game constantly amazes me. The depth of information it keeps track of astounds me. It's addictive. Yet, for a casual baseball fan, those points can grab ahold of an 'initiate' and shake him about violently. Especially one who has a memory problem that can confound. I have began to keep a notepad just to remind me where I saw this or that menu, let alone players, stats etc. that I want to get back to. Allot of times I'm just perusing about saying,'...ohhhh, ahhhh...' to myself of the things I find, but NOT the one I am looking for *chuckle*. The manual desperately needs a flow chart. Sure there are links galore, but they are so deep sometime, that you follow a path like a rabbit fascinated by sight and sound, you forget where the devil that link was that you really wanted, that is now back aways in a maze of cool information.I'm very much enjoying it nonetheless.

My brother has gone gabanzo over it. He's a solid 1700-1800 chess player and usually plays dozens of on-line games. But he has chucked it all to embrace OOTP completely. I'm extremely happy for him and hope I can understand what he say's about the game in a month or two, for the language may be foreign to me *chuckle'.

I look forward to really getting into this season and the next etc. That's when things will really get interesting. I just hope I have a strong enough grip to hold on to this vast ship of information.

I realize there is no print function in this game (!!), but is there a way to save a screen somehow. I checked around in the manual and they talk about the Almanac, but that seem's a last resort thing 'cause it so big and degrades OOTP functionality. But they also mentioned reports, but it didn't quite mention what I'm looking for (Team Report). So...?

I'm downloading the update now and I'll resubmit my file. Should be done by 9pm EST or so.

The Seattle Rain sent file after updated OOTP. Thoroughly enjoying the game. Can hardly wait until next update is ready. Are we not allowed to pick up Scout from College or high school? Do we have to wait til the off-season?
Pred, Thank You for all you do.
HELP WANTED......I am willing to trade draft choices for that special outfielder with a "thunder" bat. This could help the future of a team with or without a good scout as you control the draft choices.
To bring the "Rain" we need some "thunder."

That makes you the third team looking for an outfielder. I need a CF who can, well, do anything.

Yeah, I need outfield help too. I've got a few prospects and some middle of the road fielders, but a combo of injuries and lack of development have me scrambling right now.

We all do. I have two guys with One-* ratings in the outfield right now. It's May now though, so take whatever inventory of your team you'd like. Me personally, i'm going to wait for most of this first season before I start making moves.

The new file is up. Apologies for the delay, Labor Day Weekend + Vodka = Bad Commish. Again, you should be up to date with your patches, meaning version 12.4, build 27. Kay? Kay.

I have a backup 1B who has some fantastic potential, issue is, I already have a starting 1B with potential, and neither of them know how to play any other positions. Hoo-ray. I won't say i'm interested in a trade, but if someone comes in with an offer for

Dallas, Baltimore, you both had a player DFA who had no more option years left and refused demotion. I released him and reimbursed you the expenses (again, this will only happen for this first season).

Meanwhile, Vancouver would like to thank Boston for the three-game sweep. Our record needed it.

I didn't demote anyone ... need to check my settings. AI might be doing stuff.

Initial reaction to last weeks games: AAAARRRgggggghhh. Another 1-6 week. 1-6 on 1 run games. One experiment worked and one didn't (horribly). Owner understandably angry.

Here's an interesting stat: of the 32 games the team has played, 23 have been on the road(?) My boys are TIRED.

How do we initiate a trade? I've looked everywhere (I think). I have some pitching to trade for a hitter preferably in the outfield or a catcher.

Yeah, yeah....story of my season so far. An occasional blowout loss followed by a bunch of close losses.

Just reporting here that I'm having the same issue uploading my team file that I was having when I first tried getting set up. I'm going to try to the same fix (nuking the game files from orbit and starting over) and try to get it resolved, but if I can't get it fixed by tonight I'll just email you my export.

EDIT: Looks like that took care of things. Let me know if there's still an issue.

It's in the League area of tabs.

Wish it was that ez. After I go to trade menu, i hit either initiate trade or shop a player it states "you are not the commish". So not sure if there is something wrong with my set-up or what. Do I need to offer in the forum?
I would like to add that I can put a player(s) on the trading block however I wanted to offer a player(s) to a specific team. Not sure how to go about.
Thanks in advance for your responses.

This looks very cool, but I'm not seeing this option in OOTP 12. Has anyone actually done this in the league? I really(!) want to know how trading works.

Also, check the League pull down and then 'report's. Go to 'trade draft logs'. I try and right click on a player and either gives me a different name, or kicks me out of the game. Anyone else try this? Same result, or...?

One last thing, what about rehab from folks off DL. I've seen that posted but don't see how to do it.

Thanks!

Oh yeah. Duh.

And this is where we but up against using GWJ as the forum for the league instead of the league forum: Trades are taken care of outside of the game. Meaning, you create a thread for a player you'd like to shop or you PM a person with possible trades.

For example, see this league forum: http://longballerbaseball.com/forum/

Donan wrote:

Right click on the player coming off the DL, go to Transactions and there should be an option to send for a rehab assignment.

Did you mean "Last Draft Log"? If so, I imagine that's borked because of the way Pred reset the league before we started. I think it's showing the original draft before he went and re-did the draft.

Thanks Garion for the info. Pretty quiet forum thread for the league thus far. Glad you are active.

Things usually pick up once we get on a roll and there's some history. Right now there's no rivalries, we barely know out own players, etc.

Thanks Garion and Donan for clearing that up.

We'll pick up on chat, i'm sure, but it's May of our first season. Give it time. And yeah, if say, Donan wants to trade with Landshrk, they need to come to an agreement privately (or publicly, I don't care) and then let me know about it. I will then complete the trade. Moreover, if you want to shop a player, or attempt a trade with an AI team, I have to do that too I believe. Feel free to let me know about such moves via PM or e-mail.

Anyway, the new league file is up.

1.) Woo! Vancouver #2 in the power rankings! A 5-1 week will do that. Someone's got to stop New Orleans though, as a team they're tearing the cover off the ball (Batting .305 as a team with a .385 OBP, 20 points higher than the next closest team). Meanwhile, Baltimore's Nate Bradley is currently on pace for a .350+, 50 HR, 187 RBI season. Yes, you read that right. And a dude on Phoenix is batting .448 through almost 40 games.

2.) The First Year Draft Pool has been revealed. Take a look at the incoming players, decide whether or not your scout's a freaking idiot, and let's discuss the draft. It will take place on 6/15 (in-game) and I want to know how everyone wants to handle it. Do we want to try and do it live? Or does everyone want to send me a list of priority players they want (let's say your top 20 or so) and i'll draft for everyone? Or does anyone else have an awesome idea?

Looking at the draft, these kids want ton's of money. I resent the progammers for this game has created a Scott Boras agent AI(!;)

Was out of town for a few days, have some work to do tonight. Two outfielders on the DL, including Bobby Doyle out for 7 months with a ruptured achilles. Gonna patch as well. Happy with the current record, relative to payroll!

This might be something to think about to keep things more tidy for what folks are looking for, or want to do. Is this kind of thing offered on our 'league site'? Would it cost more from AllSimsBaseball? Or is it just not worth it for so few of folks. Plus, come to think about it, maybe we need to just settle in and see how things shake out before making such steps. Patience initiate, patience:)

For the curious on Markus and his hopes for future OOTP here's a Operation Sports interview:

You know what our league needs? More trash talk!

So, yeah, screw you, Vancouver, for sweepin' my Pierogies. (is that you, Pred?)
I was on such a hot upward swing until I hit that wall.

You know what else we need? Team + GM associations.

Novocain/Steve, GM of the Pittsburgh Fightin' Pierogies

Seattle Rain is the name of the Women's Basketball team in Seattle, therefore...*Chuckle*

Donan/Don, GM of the San Diego Surfers

(and yes, it's the old, long balsa wood boards, not the new super plastic small boards with little tie ropes for ankles so you don't need to know how to swim... humph!)

First of all the women's basketball team is called the Storm. San Diego should be the last one to start trouble because it looks as if all their players are surfing instead of playing baseball. Hey "Dude" what is this stick for?
