GWJ OOTP League Thread

Also new file!

Will there ever be a new file? I'm itching to see my new free agent SS in action!

DANGIT.

Alright, new file.

I'm gonna get this figured out.

Woop woop Happy OOtP 18 day!

so tempted, but haven't had much time to put into ootp17 lately.

anyone getting this?

I meant to avoid it, but my resistance crumbled when the early release became available.

The updates to 3D seem pretty nice; I think the PbP stuff has been updated quite a bit as well, though I admit I played 17 almostly solely in 3D mode so my memory could be off.

The challenge mode is right up my alley. The restrictions are all how I play anyway, and I like achievement like things. Also, we finally get to see official achievement causes. With some of the previous achievements, even after I had pulled it off I wasn't sure what exactly it was.

There are lots of bug reports right now. One annoying one (and the only one I've run into) is a crash when you try to replace an injured pitcher. The next patch (supposedly due today) is supposed to fix that.

LOL, OOTP 18. Oy, gevalt.

Ugh, alright, big league news coming up soon. I promise.

Looks like this is long dead, but is any league play still going on?

I've always wanted to give this game a try. I own several versions even. Just need to find a good how-to video for this. Feels very intimidating, yet intriguing.

Yeah, it eventually kind of petered out. Maybe we'll try again sometime though!

If you're interested in league play though, I'm pretty sure the official OOTP forums have a subforum for online leagues that you can try and join!

It's genuinely not that hard, you don't HAVE to be super stat-cruncher guy to play it! My recommendation, as has been to new players in this thread is buy the game (or last year's version, which is $20 on Steam) and play through a season. It shouldn't take long (unless you're kind of the insane person who literally plays every single game in which case, Godspeed) and you can come to grips with not just building a team, but getting through the offseason as well.

heads up that if you have friends wanting to grab 19, Steam has a sale right now for OOTP 19 for just
$19.99.

It is a very nice game, FWIW. Annual sports releases never make more than incremental improvements, but OOTP's are pretty solid.
