GWJ OOTP League Thread

Denver, I'm sorry, Philly swept you.

No surprises there. At least we made it to the playoffs.

After making it 1 game from the World Series last year I expected more from my team than being down 3-1 in the first round.

I've blown 3-1 leads before. It was nice to come back from another work trip to see stuff working, though. Of course, Ortega has an injury that will sit him for the rest of the series.

New file!

San Diego wins their series over Phoenix 4-1.

Las Vegas wins their series over New Orleans 4-1.

But Vancouver's come back from a 3-1 hole to foce Game 7 versus Boston!

Good series peedmyself, my pitching just fell apart in that series.

Well, well...we have ourselves a series. I must say, I'm a bit disappointed that Hernandez blew the potential series winner, but with both of us having lock down closers and great top of the rotation arms, it's gotta come down to a small error somewhere. It's gonna be a tough order for Benitez to best Brown in game 7, but we'll see if the kid's up to prime time.

I was trying to explain the idea of a fantasy fantasy baseball league to my girlfriend last night and she couldn't wrap her head around it. And then I had to explain to her that we've been playing for almost three years now, which was enough time for me to get married, divorced, quit my job, move twice, meet and start dating her...etc. Wow.

Thanks. It wasn't quite what I was expecting, but the team hasn't been this healthy since before the preseason so it might have been fortunate timing for me.

Y'know, it was going so well, we had a 3-1 lead going into the 9th...

...and then my closer blew it. Totally blew it. Boston wins the game, and the series, 4-3.

I think this is the second time a team has pout together a record-breaking regular season, only to flame out immediately in hte playoffs. Le sigh.

New file!

Just goes to show your inflated record comes from a pathetically easy schedule against your horribad divisionmates.

I have no idea if this is true or not, but I'm in the mood to stir up some trouble. You know, since Pred is the Yankees now. ;)

You do have a point: CptDomano's team is in the division.

...I'll forget you said that, Mr. Sweep.

Glad I could help you get into the playoffs

:)

Buehrle will have books written about him one day from a sabermetrics standpoint...he's a freak of nature really. I think one of the biggest tips to his continued success came on opening day last year, when he fielded arguably the most impressive ball by a pitcher all year.

Looks like we have a new file, and I blew two saves.

In other news, Felix Ortiz wants a trade and I'd give him away for next to nothing.

We do! And I fell asleep while the file was updating on the website. Silly me.

We're gonna get back on schedule one way or another, so we'll do the next sim tomorrow night.

New file!

No sweeps, but both series are 3-1.

New file!

Congrats to Las Vegas, who defeated San Diego 4-2 to advance to the NABL Championship.

Boston and Philly? Headed for a Game 7,

Man...two long series. If I make it through this series, I'll be lucky to have any pitching left.

Bummer, I thought I'd beat LV, but I think I lost the first three games in the 9th+ inning. I haven't checked last night's games.

I'm out of town again, but I guess that doesn't matter. I should be taking vacation. I'm not sure why I volunteer to resuscitate ailing accounting departments.

Francis Riley man.

The undisputed "Best Pitcher in Baseball" was at it again on the biggest stage, tossing a 8-inning, 5-hit, 7-K shutout, outdueling Philadelphia's young gun Errol Brown to propel the Boston Whiteflags to their 4th championship series appearance, and their 3rd in the last 4 years.

There they will take on the Las Vegas Gamblers, who in their second-ever playoff appearance will now contest for the sport's biggest prize!

These are two surprisingly evenly matched teams. Both finished 4th in runs scored, and 3rd in runs against in their respective leagues, and their records are only separated by a mere 5 games. And while Michael Manning is a great pitcher, we here at the GWJSN believe that Francis Riley is the ultimate trump card. If Riley starts twice (and he should), we think the title goes to Beantown.

Our prediction? A 4-2 victory for Boston.

So, new file! We're down to the home stretch now. So, since a round just ended, there will be no sim today (7/22). Starting on Wednesday, we'll be simming two games each day until the series ends. If the series goes to a Game 7, we will have a LIVE BROADCAST for everyone to enjoy.

After that, there will be a short, 7 day break, where everyone needs to get their hands on OOTP 15 and migrate to the new title. Hopefully, we'll work out any kinks or snafus, and get any new players into the fold. And then, we'll keep on going like we always do!

I've been taking the time cleaning house. Going through all the levels, moving people up and down, and most importantly, dumping that 32-yr old 1B stuck in Single-A for the last 2 seasons. I feel more in tune with my organization now, but also filled with self-loathing about how lame my organization is.

I bought OOTP15 during the All-Star sale and I'm ready.

Go Boston!

Any spots open in the league? I picked up OOTP15 a couple of months ago and have gotten the bug again. Happy to take one of the bottom feeders if necessary.

Woo! Fresh meat!

FYI for anyone still looking to pick it up- OOTP 15 is $20 at the Humble store at the moment.

Yes we do! Drop me an email at Prederick at gmail dot com so I can start figuring out who'll be joining us next season.

Anyway, new file!

I, personally, had Boston winning this series, on the strength of Francis Riley. That strength is gonna be put to the test now, with Las Vegas taking the first two games of the series. An 11th-inning win saw them take Game 1, and then a masterful performance from Wiley Robertson means that Boston is in a hole headed back to Beantown. But, the good news? Riley starts Game 3. If Boston holds serve, they could be up 3-2 with the series returning to Las Vegas. We'll see!

I'd like to propose a trade where I offer all of my aging, junk players for Francis Riley.

New file!

It's 3-1! Boston barely avoided the sweep there.

To be the best, you gotta beat the best. And that's just what the Las Vegas Gamblers did, beating the best pitcher in the game not once, but twice, the second time clinching the NABL title with a 4-1 victory in Game 6.

Credit to Boston, who managed to send the series back to Las Vegas, but a Gamblers victory always seemed to be on the cards, the Gamblers simply having an answer for everything Boston threw at them.

So... congratulations to... the AI, I guess.

And that wraps up the 2019 season of NABL baseball! Roll on to the offseason!

So, as I said, we will be going on hiatus until (hopefully) next Friday, so we can make the change to OOTP 15! So what do we/you need to do?

- If you plan on being part of the league, please make sure you have OOTP 15 (Duh). If you're not gonna make the switch and are dropping out, PLEASE LET ME KNOW ASAP. I will be doing an owner roll-call, and if I haven't heard from you one way or the other by the time we're ready to get started again, I will be culling you from the manager list.

- Make sure you're all ready and raring to go with the new league! Those of you who already have OOTP 15 should be able to simply use the Import Game feature to migrate your OOTP 14 game into OOTP 15, and then you should be able to download the latest league file/upload your team file.

- If you are a new owner looking to join the league, again, make sure you have OOTP 15. Those of you who have already contacted me about openings, I will be emailing you in the next day or two with instructions on joining the league. If you are interested in joining, but haven't contacted me directly yet, please do ASAP.

Honestly, that should be it. I'm sure there'll be some muckety-muck inbetween about "this doesn't work" and what-not, but for now, that's the size of it. I think you'll all enjoy OOTP 15, it adds even more fun to the equation.

Importing now, so in for next season!

Yeah, 15 feels like the best version they've done in a while. It may only have been a polishing update, but the polishing made it better.
