The Keys To Happiness - a Steam & Origin (and Desura!) key giveaway and trading thread

Anyone have an EDF 4.1 key? I know I can get it for $12 with the latest Humble Bundle, but thought I would check to see if it’s just not somebody’s bag before I buy.

I might have one. Let me check and I’ll send you a pm

Ah crap, I don’t. Sorry. I misremembered.

Hello! In case anyone's interested, I added some games to the master list. For reference, they are:

-Alone in the Dark: The New Nightmare
-Drawn: The Painted Tower
-Left 4 Dead 2 Claimed!
-Retro City Rampage
-Super Meat Boy (it's just the base game, as far as I know)
-Worms Reloaded (three copies)

Many thanks to learn2speaklion for The Banner Saga! I've never played before and now I shall!

You are welcome!

Long shot, but is anyone holding a spare key for Slay the Spire?

Hi,

I accidentally™ bought a full mystery pack at Fanatical. Got two games I was interested in / didn't already own.

The rest is in GWJ Boss Key Master List:

  • LEGO Marvel Super Heroes
  • Sid Meiers Civilization VI
  • The Walking Vegetables

Moved unclaimed

PS. I'll keep these "for non-Coffee Grinder" profiles / existing donators as seems to be the general rule in here? At least for a little while.

Thanks for LEGO! Will make my kids happy

As an FYI:

The Master Key list got broken a week or so back (thanks tormodh for bringing it to my attention). Someone sorted by a column without including the rest of the chart. Tormodh did some preliminary fixes, and I'm going to do a comparison between the fixes and the last time the file was working correctly to catch anything else.

I'll post again when I'm finished, and if you've added keys in the past week, you may then want to check that they're still in correctly. I'm going to start making a more regular back up and check on the file to ensure it is easier to fix next time.

Master Key List should be good again. I've checked enough that I'm reasonably confident all is as it should be. Apologies in advance if I missed something and the wrong person gets a PM. No restore from a previous version was needed, so entries for keys added recently are intact.

What appears to have happened is the Donator column was sorted by itself, while the unsorted PM to request column remained true to the unsorted game title entries. Tormodh copied the PM names to the Donator column and as well as I can check, it all appears accurate to the pre-error listing. A little redundancy to the rescue.

Big thanks again to Tormodh for his work on this.

Oof, that someone was almost certainly me. I thought I had expanded the sorting to include the whole chart but clearly I did not.

I'm sorry Artichulius, thanks to you and Tormodh for cleaning up my huge mess.

I added a Mad Max key

Ah, no worries. I think we're back to normal now.

I bought an Xbox controller for my PC, but it came with a Xbox Live Gold key for 2 weeks. It also came with a Game Pass key, which I used to play some free Forza Horizon on my PC. It's relevant because I actually got 6 weeks of free play if I set my billing to auto-renew. Which I did, along with reminders on my iPhone and Google Agenda to make sure I'll cancel it in time!

So usual rules apply, PM me for 2 or 6 weeks of free Xbox Live Gold.

edit: key's gone, or at least it will be when I get home from work

Adding 50+ games to Antichulius' master key list from a bunch of Fanatical random bundles. Unfortunately, I've redeemed some of them, and the file I was keeping track of them in closed without saving, but it should be very few, and most I have duplicates for.

Just peeked through the list. Someone grab Homeworld!

Am... am I missing something? Because I don't see Bonus on there at all.

Edit: I can see that someone removed all of his entries sometime in the last couple hours.

I can also not recommend Homeworld Remastered collection enough, though I would say that whoever gets it should probably play Homeworld 1 Classic before remastered, just because a lot of the backend engine stuff got changed for the worse. Tactics and formations were big parts of HW1, and were mostly removed in HW2, and the remastered version uses the HW2 engine. IIRC they implemented a patch to help sort this out, so it may be better, but it was an absolute mess at launch. Parts of the game are built on using certain tactics and formations which basically meant a few missions were broken.

HW2 was a mess in general. The interface is awful, and the engine is all messed up. Most of the really great stuff about Homeworld was butchered.

But it *looks* better to a quick glance; the UI is more visually appealing, despite being wildly inferior, and the ship graphics are more advanced. It very much has the feel of design-by-clueless-manager; looking good mattered more than playing well.

The story was also an incoherent mess, full of nonsensical twaddle that sounded good on the surface but fell apart if you spent more than about five seconds trying to piece it together with what you already knew.

So, *modern* clueless management decided to reimplement HW1, the good title, in the engine that's completely unsuited for the job. They'd have done far, far better to go the other way, and then modernize the specific features they wanted in the HW1 engine.

edit to add: The best overall title in that series might be Homeworld:Cataclysm, which wasn't even done by the original studio. Some other, smaller studio took it in a rather different direction, and while it's uncomfortable at first because the ships and strategies are quite different, IMO the overall design is better than either of the other two. They fixed the problems in HW1, without adding the (much worse) problems of HW2.

That one's been renamed to Homeworld: Emergence. Blizzard trademarked the Cataclysm name for WoW, apparently, and are being jerks about it. It's the same game (same code, not a remaster), and you can find it on GOG for $10, probably less during a sale.

Solution: forethought

They were just filtered out.

I bought it during one of the historic lows, which was $3.89. It's a steal for that price.

I mostly agree with you but I'd still put HW1 (classic) above HW:Cataclysm, though not far above. HW:C brought a ton of QoL improvements for the UI and engine, the voice acting was really, really well done, and the story was good without trying to one-up the original. But it's hard to beat the feeling of going through HW1 for the first time, and to be honest... HW:C's story is a bit cliched (kind of the Borg from Star Trek with a twist).

And I remember having issues with some of the story triggers even during my first playthrough. The mission where you have to specifically send 10 fighters to escort the research ship, for instance, goes completely against what I would have done. I would have sent a single scout first and hold my valuable ships back until I had a good assessment of the situation. And it wouldn't have been hard to have the game tell you to send a scout, the scout comes back fine, then to have you escort the research ship up since you've at least scoped it out first. But yeah, very minor gripes about the HW:C story, it's certainly worth even the $10 to have a current compatible version of that game. The remastered though really is only worth grabbing for a compatible version of HW Classic, the other three modes are mostly fluff.

I should really get around to throwing my keys up there as well, but man that's gonna take a while to dig them up.

Taking a peek at the list though -- there's a lot of great stuff on there. Anyone who likes picross-style puzzle games should absolutely grab Hexcells Complete. Those three games (assuming it comes with 1, 2, and Infinite) are pretty much the best games in that genre that I've ever played.

I have some keys that I’ll be adding the next time I’m in front of my computer.

In the meantime, thanks to Bonus_Eruptus for Lego Marvel Superheroes. My son has been looking forward to playing it.

I purchased that Historical & Technical Briefing (aka the game instruction manual) off eBay shortly before the Remastered collection launched as I lost my original materials during some move or another.

Man they just don't do supplemental material like that anymore. It was so glorious. 100 page softcover 9"x7" book that shipped with every copy of the game. The first 40 pages alone were dedicated to world lore and clan histories.

I think that Prima Guide was the one and only Guide I ever bought... I soooooo needed it.

So I bid on an Oculus Rift DK II, and won,

Honestly, I have no clue what these goggles do or not. Any recommandations regarding the list to check these goggles?

There's rarely any VR keys on the list.

Which I suspect is becuase the list is usually populated with unused keys from bundles, and there hasn't been a spate of VR bundles.

There's a lot of free VR demos/tech demos/small games on Steam. At least two Star Wars ones. You could check those out.

Will do! Thanks!

I think either Fanatical or Humble to a VR bundle from time to time, but they're really rare. Just something to be on the look out for.
