Maybe still a problem?

EDIT 2: The HDMI cable seems to be fine now which makes me wonder if the problem isn't something else, so if you have any ideas they would be much appreciated.

EDIT: it appears to have been a bad HDMI cable.

I woke up this morning to find that my computer is not working. It boots up the motherboard but with a bunch of blue lines and never boots up the OS be it my Windows hard drive or my Linux drive. I'm thinking it has to be my motherboard or graphics card since my monitor is hooked up to that because my motherboard doesn't have anything to hook a monitor up to. But before I start tearing things apart I was wondering if anyone had any advice?

That kinda sounds like bad video memory. It could also be bad system RAM. Or maybe the cable was just loose. Has the problem gone away?

Yup. I have it hooked up the way it was when the problem occurred so I have no idea what happened. I did mess with some of the cables attached to the motherboard so maybe one of those was lose? Honestly right now I just wish I knew what it was so I could start saving up to replace it.

I would start by testing your ram. I believe the ram tester I use is memtest, its free also. When one of my ram sticks went bad I would get this blue screen with words like dumping on it.
