Looks like the screenplay was co-written by the book's author and Christopher Ford, who also wrote Robot and Frank (excellent movie, recommended!), the reasonably entertaining Kevin Bacon vehicle (sorry) Cop Car, and the second best Spider-Man movie in recent memory, Spider-Man Homecoming.
