This will probably be crap. Just give us another X-Wing/TIE Fighter game already!

F2P is basically a curse-word at this point. I can't wait to have to earn magic credits (with real dollars)!

Does anyone else remember just how much control you had in X-Wing/TIE Fighter? You had to manage power between shields, weapons, and engines. You cold enter hyperdrive at any point. You could even lock S-Foils in Flight positions. If you took some non shielded hits but survived, your HUD Panel might be destroyed so you wouldn't have it to look at. You could even eject. And if you took off in the wrong direction, there was no annoying commander telling you to get back in the fight or mandatory reversal of trajectory back into the fight. You just flew really far away until the mission was over. Man I loved that game.

Stupid CG trailer. Those are the worst. Movies don't promote with fake videos.

It was really horrible. Thankful that doesn't reflect game quality. (hopefully)

Sure they do, when there is no movie to show or there is a very distinct draw to what is shown (like below.)

That said, any game that puts out a trailer that doesn't at least include in-engine renders, I am very skeptical of.

I knew someone would retort with a mild teaser video like that. That's not quite the same as what out of engine trailers show. For instance, I would never expect that the Hunger Games teaser was a part of the movie while a video game trailer purports to show you exactly that even if it's nothing like that in reality.

I was griping just because. I still signed up for the beta. Already had a Disney acct, lol.

Yeah, it was the huge Disney logo that steered me clear of signing up. I doubt that 40 year olds are the target demographic.

Everyone is Disney's target demographic.

They own the Muppets, Lucasfilm, Marvel, ABC, 1/2 of A&E networks, 80% of ESPN, and Hollywood Records, just to list some of their assets you might be more familiar with.

Looks awful. You know what... this looks like it is almost in response to the Star Wars Battlefront 3 teaser.

"Dude, they liked that teaser and it was 5 seconds long, and it was just an AT-AT foot! For OUR game, let's give them a real teaser that lasts for 30 seconds, with multiple ships, and see how wild they go for THAT!"

"But we don't have any voice actors!"

"You and I can do that... Just say a couple lame phrases or quotes from Ep. IV... they'll eat it right up!"

"Sounds good, Gold Leader."

"Oh, ya got me! HAHAHAHA!"

"HAHAHAHAHAH!"

...

Sorry, I kind of got lost there for a minute, what were we talking about?

Super underrated part: The music would change when ships entered/destroyed. It was so cool at the time when a Star Destroyer entered and a MIDI Imperial march would start.

Such a great game with so much control. I loved getting away by dropping all power from weapons, dumping all the shields to the rear and pulling away from the ships that couldn't keep up.

All we want is TIE Fighter "HD"; think how easy that would be to resuscitate!!!! It would make a lot of money, with limited development costs. Who are these geniuses in charge down there?

TIE Interceptors firing torpedoes... So wrong...

Anyone else get an invite to the closed beta?

Yes.

I got a closed beta invite too and it has a couple friend codes, though they expire tonight at midnight eastern. If anyone wants one to try out tonight, shoot me a PM.

Just got my closed beta invite.

I may have also gotten one of these.....;)

Same.

It's pretty fun, definitely better than the space fighting in TOR.

I stopped after about 30 seconds. I knew I shouldn't have expected X-Wing, but it's still way too arcadey for me.
