I have rethought my position:

Excuse my ignorance as maybe he wasn't written for TV, but I noticed nobody posted The Doctor in response to yesterday's question.

Although, Kamina is a pretty cool one, too.

Surprisingly nobody has mentioned the doctor! I was definitely thinking he'd come up.

Which Doctor though? That's the thing.

The Doctor is always The Doctor, regardless of which Doctor The Doctor happens to be.

Dr. Killpatient.

Ooh, good call!

HAPPY HUMP DAY SURVEY! What is the best movie that takes place within 1 day?

Reservoir Dogs. Hands down.

Die Hard? Probably Die Hard.

I would've said Groundhog Day.

That was the first one that came to mind

Oh damn--that's a good call. I take back my previous "Hands down" statement.

12 Angry Men

The Wizard of Oz

That's three days... The day they drive down there, the repeated day, then the day after when he realizes he escapes.

I think Reservoir Dogs has the same problem... A lot of the story is the individual characters leading up to the failed heist... which is weeks before hand in one's case.

My vote would be Before Sunset (the sequel to Before Sunrise), which not only takes place in a single day... it's actually confined to within 2 hours as, including a RIDICILOUSLY long shot of the two of them (something like 10 or 11 minutes). Before Sunrise is also good, but as it actually covers two days (speaking in Calendar time, anyway, I think it is actually under 24 hours of elapsed time), it is also disqualified!

Die Hard has already been said. So for second place, I'm going with Margin Call. Very compelling and I just watched it recently so its fresh in my mind.

Okay, I'll clarify the time span to prevent unnecessary debate:

Flashbacks and flash forwards are allowed as long as the action of the film takes place within a 24-hour period. So Reservoir Dogs would qualify since the action takes place just over several hours despite flashbacks to preparations for the heist and gathering the team. However, as Demosthenes points out, Groundhog Day actually covered 3 days -- Feb 1-3. Or you could be really mean and say that it covers 8 years, 8 months, and 16 days.

I'm also going to say within a 24-hour period so that excellent films that take place at night (such as Before Sunrise) don't get confusing.

This is a tough one! Good survey. I'm going to go with MAGNOLIA. Honorable mentions include ROPE, THE BREAKFAST CLUB, and GOONIES.

Ooh, The Breakfast Club was my initial thought. I'll have to keep thinking now

Die Hard would have been one of my picks. Clerks is another pick.

I can't decide between

Dr. Strangelove

and

IMAGE(http://zone180.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/06/The-Raid_02.jpg)
The Raid

Dog Day Afternoon and Night of the Living Dead

All of the above answers are the best.

Personally, I suppose I'd have to say Die Hard. That's a tough one though, I like so many.

Clerks-Dante's day off.

Death at a Funeral, I'm pretty sure. It is AMAZING! The 2007 version anyway, I didn't see the 2010 remake.

I refuse to acknowledge the remake.
