The biggest issue I currently have is the lack of good servers. A lot of the servers are 1k + tickets which a) I don't have the time to play at times due to limited time and b) some are so lopsided why bother joining? Very little games played where there are 32-48 players with 300-500 tickets. :(

I land on 777 most often. Teams can be pretty skewed at times, but it's otherwise been a reliably good server. Ping times are higher across the board since the fall patch though. I hope it's just that the servers are prioritizing other traffic or something, but it's been a bit weird. Gameplay seems fine though.

That's what runs me away from BF games every time. Server admins.

Wish they'd implement some boundaries on what are reasonable game settings, with only games in those ranges counting toward stats. Leave some flexibility, just not the crazy stuff.

That issue is exactly why I'm no longer sad when games coming out announce there's no server browser and it's all matchmaking based.

The last time I tried to play BF4 I spent almost half an hour just trying to find a server not running some combination of super high ticket counts or only one specific map that's not that fun or too many players crammed into a smaller map or... just whatever. It's impossible.

I ended up uninstalling the game.

I reinstalled it a few weeks ago, convinced myself to play since they've updated the game so much, and then did the same look-for-a-server thing and ended up just closing the thing and going to play more Destiny.

The game type/ ticket count/ limited map issue is really problematic. On PS4, there are still usually "official" servers running normal stuff, so that's not so bad as on pc. On pc, (where I generally just play at work), I tend to stick to TDM, since it won't hurt my team too much if I just don't respawn back in - at least compared to other modes. There's usually at least one server running decent TDM settings.

Ofc, TDM isn't why most people play battlefield, so maybe I shouldn't bother hitting post.

Edit: But I did anyway.

I guess the weird server settings just don't bother me. Outside of weirdly configured "hardcore" options, fast vehicle spawn, or ridiculously high ticket counts, I don't find many tweaks to be a big deal. More of an issue for me is player count, autobalance, and just the kind of players a given server tends to attract.

Naw I'd disagree with that. TDM is fun. You shouldn't feel bad or off about playing TDM in Battlefield in any way. I think Battlefield's gun mechanics are 'different' enough and more importantly accessible enough that you can get pretty close to maximum 'efficiency' easier than other shooters like say... counter-strike. You would be missing out if that's all you EVER did (which some do), but if that's just what you prefer, it's definitely a big chunk of the game.

Also, players of the ever dwindling comp scene, at least from the infantry side (5v5 Squad Oblit), tend to favor TDM and/or locker servers, at least in NA (since DOM servers have completely died out more or less).

I think it has less to do with the fact that it's server browser and more the way DICE has handled the server situation so far.

Official Servers are more or less the optimal settings in regards to what you might be looking for, HOWEVER, DICE grossly messed up by disallowing any moderation, which means Official servers are affected most by the game-time hacking epidemic (though Conquest servers suffer at least 3x less than Infantry servers), despite being one of the most easily populated (due to people using Quick Match and Official servers being plugged in with higher priority).

I think the onus is really on EA more than DICE. They approached the server hosting culture with a view to minimize costs to them, and even turn it into a profit model, rather than using to supplement player and community options.

If you're looking for Conquest modes, Official Servers are plentiful and usually fully populated. There's always gonna be 4-6 to choose from, ranging between 32-64 player counts, and at least one of them is bound to be not skewed out of wack in terms of team balance.

I have BF4 on the PS3, I thought that if I bought a PS4 I got the update to the PS4 version. I want to be able to play on 1080p on my nice TV. Anybody know how about I get doing this?

Looks like it was a time-limited deal, unfortunately.

All Retailers (EU, US)

Inside marked copies of Battlefield 4 for PlayStation®3 there will be a voucher with a unique code printed on it. This code will allow you the one-time opportunity until March 28, 2014 to purchase a digital version of Battlefield 4 via the PlayStation®Store for only $9.99/£9.99/9.99€.

New and probably final MAP DLC coming out. Not having played the original version of the map, I am pretty excited.

Also... was never a huge fan but Noshar Canals is making a come back, just in TDM format.

I'm committed to not playing BF4 until I finish Fallout, or I will never finish Fallout. But once I do I'm all over the new maps.

I finally did get pc premium when it was on sale. I'll have to fire it up sometime soon.

I bought BF4 Premium on PS4 during last week's co-op sale. Haven't had the chance to fire it up yet, but add me so we can squad up!

So after I got BF4 during the flash sale, it loaded all of my data from my PS3 which was really cool. I have a copy that I will be mailing to my coworker so we can play together. I am really digging the PS4 version a lot better as the image is much more clean as well as 64players is nice. It feels a lot bigger that is for sure.

Nice! I did the ps3 - ps4 transfer back when they were offering the upgrade for $10. It handled the transfer pretty seamlessly, as I recall. I haven't done much bf4 on ps4 lately, but feel free to add me if you're looking for squad mates on the new platform.

You should rectify that. Rather than playing Rocket League all the time.

I do what I want. RL4lyf.

...you spelled "life" wrong...

Really? You have no problem with the Arabic "4," but the misspelling of "lyf" got to you? Sad head shake to you, sir! Sad head shake.

Oh. I thought we were talking about Rocket League 4, preemptively. My bad.

I'm going to count that as Pikey being on my side! ...which is good because he can work an AEK about as well as anybody.

I have been playing too much Saints Row 4 and GTA 5 since I got them. I need to get a headset so I can play at night when I get off work which is 11pm PST

Are you playing on console or PC? They are not the greatest headsets in the world but I have the logitech G430s and they go on sale for around $40 a lot. I really like them.

I play almost everything on PS4/PS3. I play WoW on PC but that is it till I can drop the money to get a new PC. I was looking at getting a pair of Asto's but they are all so ugly to me-women gaymers are a thing people-that it is hard to justify dropping a lot of money or something that I dont like to look at. If I am going to get a cheap headset I will just get a pair of Tritons.

The free DLC legacy operation is now available for those interested.

Double XP boost right now!

Played Dragon Valley for a few rounds, it's definitely aimed more towards vehicle combat. We still had a few good inf battles for H in the middle of the map.

Also played the new community map for the first time (forget what it's called). It's gorgeous, and seems built for some epic infantry battles. Really liked it!
