Battlefield 4 - Catch-All (It's ALIVE)

Pages

Battlefield 4 (commonly abbreviated as BF4) is an upcoming first-person shooter video game developed by EA Digital Illusions CE (DICE) and published by Electronic Arts. The game is the thirteenth installment in the franchise and is a sequel to 2011's Battlefield 3. The game is expected to be released on Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and next-gen consoles.

In July 2012, Battlefield 4 was unofficially announced after EA advertised on their Origin client that those who pre-ordered Medal of Honor: Warfighter would receive early access to the Battlefield 4 beta.

Expected release is Fall 2013.

The Frostbyte engine still looks stunning

I'm not going to deny for a second that it looks impressive, but I think it's past the point that I care and that more/better graphics adds to the game. From what was presented there, if someone told me that it was a new BF3 campaign I would believe them. I know the number they put after the engine name is partially marketing, but while looking at the demo I think it could be any other off-the-shelf big name engine doing those things.

It's not what you've got, it's what you do with it.

Call it whatever you want i dont care. It looks amazing and i want to play it.

I would definitely play the single player again if they take away the COD corridors and go back to having more open ended game play with big environments. Better yet, add some co-op to those big environments and it would be pretty awesome. Otherwise its all multi-player for me.

That's why I haven't traded away BC1 yet, I keep meaning to give it another playthrough.

The destructible environments in the campaign are appealing to me, like how he flanked the jeep and MG. Hopefully it has more impact than in previous campaigns.

I'm disappointed they're going back for another round of modern US soldiers killing Russians ... but yeah, I'll still be getting it for the multiplayer.

Hell, I'd just really like it if there was even one different or interesting thing in that video. A female protagonist perhaps? Even going back to WW2 would be welcome at this point. Anything!

They did that in the BF3 rail shooter jet level. Check that off your list, DICE has you sorted.

I would still really really like to have BF 2143 but I know that won't ever happen

Exactly. At least give us Bad Company 3 this year and follow it with BF4 next year or the year after that.

That was the last pc battlefield that I played a ton. I miss that game so much. I picked up BF3 when it was cheap but after having everything no the console unlocked I wanted nothing to do with having to go through that grind again, and felt outmatched not having basic parts of the kits. Looking forward to having a good pc at release this time.

The weapon unlock grind will still be in BF4. Unfortunately that is something they have fully bought into.

I never finished BC2's single player campaign and have yet to even put the BF3 single player disc in my XBox. Just tell me about the multiplayer already.

I wanted for a futuristic Battlefield also. I can live with an iteration on BF3. Hopefully there will be no egregious micro-transactions.

"Hey guys everyone loves our game for the multiplayer so let's show 17 minutes of single player!"

With that said if this supports oculus rift (and the rumor is that it will) I will crap all over myself.

Super pretty, don't care about the singleplayer, etc, so on, so forth.

I just want a BF 1942 remake. Is that so much to ask?

Does BF1943 not count? I didn't play the original, so I don't know what was missing from BF1942 that wasn't in '43.

No, not really. 1942 had much bigger maps and many more maps from Europe, North Africa, and the Pacific, higher player count, and more vehicles including bombers, and drivable ships, subs, and aircraft carriers.

1943 was a lot of fun, and has its own positives (like destructability) but it's pale Pacific-focused imitator of 1942.

I know it will be, but it's fine when you are starting with everyone else doing it. I played BF3 on the console then got a copy when I finally got another gaming PC but the game had already been out a year. Playing against capped people as a level 4 gets a little boring when I don't have the weapons I am used to to fight back.

Oh, ok. Gotcha.

Well I liked the fact that you could use a scope and the iron sights... but if I'm going to be honest, yeah, that's about it really. It's battlefield 3.5. Also singleplayer = meh. Show me some really cool stuff with the multiplayer already.

+1

The modern military shooter is really getting old. How many different weapons can they come up with that haven't been done to death? How many more vehicles can they sit you in? It's time they used some imagination.

Given how long military FPS stuck in the WWII era, and how many people complained about it being done-to-death, I think we could have a good few years yet of the 'modern/near future' era.. But where do they go from there?

There was a glimpse of a Chinese female in that clip

How about an American Revolution FPS, complete with accurate reloading mini-games.

Are DICE saying much more about the game at GDC, or do I have to wait until E3 until they give reasons to get me excited about the game?

I've actually thought about how a Napoleonic fps may play out.. If they can do bow/sword FP(s?), then why not?! :p think chivalry meets total war

I doubt the mp would be as exciting as bf4...

i already said i'd give my first born for a mmo that used chivalry's combat system, but i'd give the 2nd and 3rd for that if it was done with the frostbite 3 engine!

There was a Source mod that was set in the Revolutionary War. It was rather fun, if somewhat crude (mechanics-wise).

A quick chat about single player with a bloke from Dice.
