Heroes of the Storm Catch-All

It used to be my main game. Once Blizzard basically abandoned it by cancelling their esports, I dropped it and haven't gone back. I miss it and wish that Blizz still supported it. But, I can't see spending my limited gaming time on an unsupported game with an uncertain future.

From what I can see, the game is seeing at least as much support as Diablo III, and people still flock to that every season. Heroes is certainly updated way more often. Activision is no longer trying to use the game to eat League of Legends' lunch, but Blizzard seems to be doing right by their existing player base.

I do miss the Heroes of the Dorm tournaments. I find it a lot easier to root for VCU or University of Kentucky than I do the Solo Tempo Cloud Buckets or whatever.

i wouldn't say it's unsupported - they're regularly patching and doing reworks (Tracer and Cassia just hit with the long-awaited Tassadar rework 2-3 weeks ago)... I get it though, more games in the sea than ever.

Yeah I still feel like the whole "HotS is dead" was overblown media hype. It didn't read like they were shutting anything down or stopping development. But everyone got in a tizzy and said they were quitting. I still don't get it.

Don't worry about that at all, outside of EA titles. My main game for almost twelve years now has been L4D/L4D2, and there hasn't been any updates except bug fixes and other insignificant tweak since 2013.

I feel like Heroes of the Storm has always been a game that can't be followed. The only way you can know what is going on with the game is to play it regularly.

The only promotion it gets is self promotion...
Which is a bummer since I had a good time with it a couple years ago. Some of the alt costumes are just badass!

I've dove back into this in a big way. I can attest to short wait times, better matchmaking, and a streamlined Storm League experience. Happy to party with any GWJers on - just ping me (Battle.net tag is UMOarsman#1269).

I'm regularly tempted. I had a great time with the game when I was heavily into it, and I still occasionally listen to the Into the Nexus podcast to keep up to date. Inevitably though, I'm still way out of the loop. I could jump in for some quick matches though if we were in more compatible time zones.

Edit: wrong thread. Nothing to see here.

In my quest for good background viewing while I care for my infant daughter, I have stumbled across a crowdfunded HotS esports league that Heroes Hearth is running. They stream on Saturdays and Sundays, but I've been watching the replays on YouTube.

While I'm still finding that this is mostly true, I'm starting to warm up to some of the underdogs in this league. Also, who need to find a "home team" to root for when you get a sweet best-of-5 series like this one between Diamond Hands and STORM Esports:

I may have half slept through the first couple games, but the final two kept me wide awake.
