Let's Do the Extra Life 25 Hour Charity Event Together! Nov. 2nd

Wait, Rift AND Defiance?! I thought it was just Defiance. That's pretty cool. Granted, these are games I don't necessarily care about much but free is free!

Yeah - no interest in them before, but I may try them now.

Hey guys!

I'm newish to GWJ, but I'd like to join the team. Just signed up at extra life... can i just click to join the GWJ team or do I need permission?
Planning to play Minecraft and Terraria definitely, maybe War Thunder, Dark Souls, Diablo 3, Skyrim.... if i can get a group even Borderlands 2. Don't really have many new games, lol.
Not set up to live stream yet but working on it.

Steam - nwinge08

Hey man, welcome! It's up to ccesarano but the more the merrier in my opinion. I haven't yet finished Diablo 3 and I've been trying to go through the Borderlands 2 DLC so I'd be up for that too. I have a couple of friends from work who might be interested in joining in on that too.

Almost forgot, here's a link to my profile:
http://www.extra-life.org/index.cfm?...

Unfortunately, I got BL2 after everyone else I know and couldn't find people to play with, so I'm still pretty low level.

I believe in order to join the team you have to send an e-mail to Support. That's how you had to do it, right PxA?

I have no problem with anyone joining the team. Which reminds me, the goal of $1,000 I had set? We reached it! Of course, I was feeling quite skeptical when I set that amount. I'd like us to make around $2500 if possible.

Unfortunately, friends and family aren't being the most supportive for me, but we'll see if I can change that. What friends HAVE been supportive, have been VERY supportive.

You can join a team when you sign up for your account but if you don't do it then, you have to e-mail support. They'll take care of it really quick though.

Feel free to up the goal if you want Chris! I cracked $2,000 last year during my live stream and I still am holding out hope I can do it this year. Like you, a lot of people who contributed last year don't seem to be stepping up to my campaign this year and I'm kind of at a loss to explain why. I'm hoping that since my employer operates on a monthly pay cycle that if I send out another blast to the company on the last day, people will drop in some of their early disposable income in.

My biggest frustration so far with Extra Life is how they handle non-US tax receipts. The receipts generated by their web site can't be used in Canada, you have to wait for the hospital to send you a tax receipt. The problem is that Extra Life takes so long to send the donations to my chosen hospital that their fiscal year is always closed by the time they get them, so they don't end up generating receipts. I have 3 contributors who specifically said they won't pitch in this year because of this as it diminishes their confidence in Extra Life. In short: They think they're not getting receipts because Extra Life isn't passing the money onto the hospital. My repeated attempts to get the organisation to answer questions on this have gone unanswered. I really love the event but the organisation is very poorly run in this regard and they're only hurting themselves by doing it.

Oh no doubt. The FAQ turns out to be unclear when compared to actually signing up, and that you have to contact support in order to change so many things... yeah, they need to organize better and make some clarifications.

Also, that DonorDrive framework their web site is based on? Awful. One of the most unintuitive sites I've used in years.

Oh no, I didn't know this either. Last year I donated to someone's campaign in the US, so I didn't expect there to be a useable receipt for me, but I didn't know they had problems with Canadian hospital receipts for Canadian donors.

Hopefully they sort it out this year.

So, I just had a very lovely conversation with a super nice lady from the CHEO Foundation. It looks like this problem isn't with all Canadian hospitals, it's a CHEO specific issue. I explained the problem I was having and she told me she thinks she knows what's up and can assist any of my donors with getting receipts quickly and also with finding missing ones from the past! This is fantastic news and should help out with my previous donors who are worried about doing it this year. She said they have had some logistical issues with Extra Life, primarily due to the fact that the event is growing so fast and they don't have a huge staff (it's also mostly volunteers) but she said things are improving and should get better. Apparently Canadian hospitals are some of the biggest recipients from Extra Life so they know they have to work on this. Positive news!

And now people are getting a code for one free month of XSplit Premium.

So um, I might be considering more PC games in order to use some of this stuff. I'll try creating an official schedule later today.

Speaking of, I want to make another attempt at Halo: Reach tomorrow night (Friday, Oct. 25th), around 8 or 9pm?

My XSplit premium code isn't working. It looks like there are characters missing from the last block. Yeesh. I've e-mailed Extra Life support about it.

I like OBS so much more. XSplit is only really worth it if you pay for it, but it isn't really worth the money.

Still too many features missing in OBS that I like in XSplit but yeah, for the majority of people OBS is fine.

They just sent out corrected XSplit codes. Mine worked. I'll take another free month.

Quick question, what platform are most people planning on playing? I own a 360 but it's basically just for netflix at this point, so for all practical purposes I'm PC only atm.

PC and Wii here.

I am PC only.

Xbox 360, PS3 and WiiU.

Don't know if I'll be able to manage PC stuff.

I am principally going to be PC but I do have a 360 and PS3 as well and could be convinced to switch to those for certain titles if there's a decent group.

I'm WiiU and PC.

Okay, putting together a first draft of a schedule now. It looks like only one person voted anyway.

For easy reading Google spreadsheet here. All times are EST.

8a.m. to 11a.m. - The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD (Warm-up, continuing a save game)

11a.m. to 1p.m. - The Wonderful 101 (Commentary, demonstration)

1p.m. to 3p.m. - Open Multiplayer Slot

3p.m. to 5p.m. - Batman: Arkham Origins (PS3) (Commentary, secret finding, maybe continuing a save game?)

5p.m. to 7p.m. - Open Multiplayer Slot

7p.m. to 9p.m. - Project Sylpheed (Commentary, demonstration)

9p.m. to 11p.m. - Open Multiplayer Slot

11p.m. to 1a.m. - Open Multiplayer Slot

1a.m. to 2a.m. - Transformers: Fall of Cybertron (Xbox 360) (Commentary, demonstration of the final level in the game)

2a.m. to 4a.m. - Nier (Xbox 360) (Commentary, demonstration, trying to stay awake)

4a.m. to 7a.m. - The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker HD (Demonstration, continuing save game, trying to stay awake)

7a.m. to 9a.m. - Resistance 3

9a.m. - Random Game Surprise Waaaaugh!

I'll be posting in the respective threads, but for the Open Multiplayer Slot I'm basically looking for Halo 4, Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale, Gears of War 3 and whoever mentioned Resident Evil 6, well, I'll co-op Resident Evil 6 (Xbox 360) with ya.

ccesarano, are you only console? Sorry, I find it hard to keep things straight.

Yes, each of those titles that is non-exclusive I have noted which console I am on. I don't have many Steam games, and I don't have faith in my system's ability.

That said, if there's a lack of interest in Halo 4, GoW3 or whatnot, I'm willing to fill in that timeslot with Planetside 2 or Defiance or some other game that will be free.

I can do planetside 2 if I know when it starts in advance, other free to play games work as well. My internet is not great though so I can't make any guarantees.

That would be me I think!

I maybe changing the format of my marathon session drastically later this week. Some friends of mine have said they'd be willing to go for 25 hours of some tabletop RPG games. I'll only know later this week though if they'll be able to do it. If not then my 25 hour PS3 gaming marathon will be my fallback plan.

Updated schedule is available here for the video gaming option: http://goo.gl/ysdDm1

I was going to complain that you're not going to play a single game you voted for with me, but then I noticed "Japan" and was all "Oh, time zones. Okay!"

Do we want to all get on and do a simultaneous streaming event to test Ventrillo before the big day? We have one week left of preparations, after all.

I planned on trying to get a few hours streaming in each day this week to test out games, especially ones that I haven't tried before.

Try to get through evertyhing but BF4 before Tuesday then do that for the next few days and hope my PC doesn't melt.
