Battlefield 4 for the Unwashed Console Masses

It was put forth that we should have our own thread to meet up and plan; I agree so here it is.

We are primarily on the 360 but, PS3 users feel free to join in.

Edit: Updated thread title for Battlefield 4

Excellent TB! Just copying this over from the other thread until folks transition.

So, let me get this right, on the 360, there's no real way to play with your Platoon, other than just friending individual gamertags as you normally would?

Pretty much.

I do like the fact that it puts stats and friends in one easy to use space. Now instead of having to track 2 or 3 different sites, you can use one. If you're in to using the forums, they are integrated as well.

Not being snarky at all, but do the console peons need to form a separate thread like we did in the past? I can't tell who here is on console vs. PC and I'd like to play with some GWJers.

I agree. I'm on 360 and would really like to coordinate specific days and times for us to meet up. I've been stuck playing with mic-less pubtards. :-(

Let's try and coordinate something. I'm on 360 as are others. I think we'll be smaller in number due to the proper Battlefield series (not BFBC) being PC primarily, but we should still try and get together.

Right now I'm on and off at different times so please feel free to send me a message or join me at any time. Thursday and Saturday nights have been more or less regular nights for those of us who played BC2 up until launch.

Anybody here Garebarevol ? Got a 360 platoon request but I don't recognize the name and they're not on the spreadsheet.

I'm thinking we need about 5 people who are interested in accepting invites for leadership of the group. In case I'm not always available. Anyone interested? First come, first serve.

Got it. Apply for the Gamers With Jobs Platoon here

I'm up for taking on one of those leadership spots. Whats the current screening process we have in place to ensure only GWJ members join the platoon?

And apologies about last night Ball. I was in a Party Chat with some other friends when I joined the game. I'll be on tonight around 10 PM PST tho.

Another helpful link is to the Gamers With Jobs 360 Platoon: See below for link from Ballotechnic.

Edit: I don't think I have authority to post links yet, so I'll let another kind soul clean that up.
Edit2: Ballotechnic is a kind soul.

No serious screening process, just a participant in the GWJ forums. No worries about the party chat, I've been there many times my friend. I will be on tonight as well.

I'm generally online (360) from 10pm to 1am every night and prefer Rush or Conquest but Ill play anything really. I'm flexible with classes and can play whatever is needed. I always have a mic on too.

Have you guys tested the party system? If we show up with 8 players does it just split us into two squads?

I'm in. Usually on between 9 PM for about an hour or so most nights. Central time but nights vary.

Party system is a bit of a mess. You can only organize squads into groups of four. Once a squad gets into a game, people can join using the typically process. Once in game, you'll have to haggle with the squad system to get people into two different squads.

So the same mess as BFBC2?

This thread exists - yay! Anyone able to provide their thoughts on the PS3 version? Mainly interested in multiplayer impressions on the PSN, but all opinions welcomed. Thanks!

Exact-a-mundo!

At least now if we have a lot of people we can switch teams and pull others into the other side. Team chat enabled will allow folks to communicate if greater than 8.

Yep. But at least they've added a queue for joining servers and allow you to change teams mid-game. The squad management may or may not work. I couldn't seem to join a specific squad within that menu.

Squad management works but is buggy. If you are by yourself and go to an empty squad it puts you in a holding queue until someone else joins the same squad. After you get in one the leader can make it private, people in your party can still join with no hassle.

I was wondering last night if that was the reason that despite having spaces on the team friends couldn't join in. For instance, if you had 3 squads listed as private, but only 3 players in each, wouldn't that leave the team down by 2 making it impossible for others to fill the non squad spaces? Not sure.

+1 for the funny thread title. -1 for playing on the 360. Zing! I kid, I kid.

I'll be around as soon as I get my hands on the game but Amazon says it is preparing for delivery 'in the next few hours to a few days'. UK and Swedish people on my friends list playing this already.

Keep a seat warm for me. I'm GMT but hopefully I can still meet up sometime.

Tell me its worth the wait.

I think so. It could use some tweeks, but they got a lot of things very right. Just be prepared for some connectivity/server issues.

On PC, we've seen squads sometimes get up to 6 players somehow. Don't know how the bug happens, but I've seen it regularly.

I would say although its not perfect its much easier then BC2. Since they have plenty of squad slots and you can join empty slots, everyone can just agree to pick one of the empty ones. I have been playing with a bunch of local friends and we haven't had a problem. If someone gets stuck on the other team it can be a pain though. I usually takes a while before someone drops and it gives them the option to switch over.

There are way more squads then you need for 12 players. I want to say there are 8 squad slots.

Edit: I was in "Hotel" last night which I think was the bottom one. This would make 8 assuming they start at "Alpha"

Hoping to get on tonight around 10:30 p.m. EST.

I, too, have been in squads at least as large as six, on the 360 even.

I'm in. Usually on weeknights after 10 or so ET... or whenever I finish waxing my digit hair.

By the way feel free to make me an officer in the platoon, if we still need them; I check Battlelog and these forums quite often during the day.

I'm in, I picked it up for 360 and will wait to get the PC version, I will be joining the battlelog with you guys on 360.

"Failed to connect to EA servers". I guess they haven't sorted it out yet. Very annoying.

I will be on the 360 eventually, but I am going to start the first few weeks on the PC.

I'm getting the "Failed to connect to EA servers" as well.

Well played EA, well played.

They've posted on twitter they're working on it.

EA, really? You net a gazillion dollars in annual revenue and can't get better servers...especially after launching a Beta specifically for the purpose of stress testing said servers. Really?

It may be back up now, maybe. I at least connected to EA servers.

Servers are up. Lets get a party set up.
