Shin Megami Tensei IV

There isn't any reason it couldn't end up on the Vita (i.e., Nintendo isn't involved as a developer or publisher). I suspect it'll depend on sales for the game and for the respective handhelds whether or not it ever gets ported over.

July huh... got to clear some pile...

There was some chatter in the 3DS thread about why Amazon is listing this at $49.99. The other shoe dropped:

I am amused and excited by the fact that a 176 page book is apparently only a "starter" strategy guide. Even assuming a fair bit of it is taken up with art shots...

I was planning to get it on the eShop, but this is a very compelling argument for a physical edition.

I posted this in the JRPG thread, but it looks like Nintendo will be publishing this in Europe. I guess they were serious about that assistance for third parties thing.

Shiny.

I took the advice of that advertisement.

I just pre-ordered a game for a system I don't have. The last time I bought a game for a system I didn't own was... Xenogears.

I also pre-ordered. I have plenty of time to decide if I'd rather get the digital copy, but just in case, my name's on The List™.

July 16th can't possibly come quickly enough. Even with the newly glommed Soul Hackers to distract me, I'm still very much in "me want" mode for this one.

If I hadn't already preordered, I sure as heck would now!

I've already prepaid half of it. I just hope they don't "run out" like they did with the Persona 4 Golden pre order bonuses.

Nocturne was good. Hard as can be, but good.

Can't wait for IV. Persona 4 got a little too easy for me, so I'm ready to go back to the masochism that is the core series. Consider me pre-ordered.

Is this going to be a game I can use as my first Shin Megami Tensei game or do I need to go play the others first? This and Monster Hunter have me seriously considering getting a 3DS finally...

All the Shin Megami Tensei games are more or less stand-alone. There isn't any plot continuity that you'd be missing out on, and the games seem to be pretty good about teaching you the mechanics each time (because they vary slightly from game to game). A great one for jumping into the series.

Huh, July 16th.... that's the day after mah birfday. Guess I know what I'm getting myself.

My Gamestop is staffed with really cool people, so I don't have a problem going there. I'm tempted to stop by on Friday and make sure that's the version I have reserved, THEN pay the rest off asap. I've already got $25 put toward it.

This is actually funny to me: GameStop-exclusive DLC costume for all pre-orders.

Edit: And now costumes for Canadians via Amazon Canada and EB Games Canada. The Amazon one, despite having the Amazon logo on it, isn't completely ridiculous.

The Amazon Canada one looks kind of cool. If that was a mockery of Happy Meal boxes instead of an Amazon bonus then it would be considered post-apocalyptic necessity mixed with modern day satire. It still kind of works in the same way, but without the intentional satire.

Oh hai English trailer.

Only partial nudity? Lame.

Just the nipples and vagina are exposed; everything else is covered.

Truly, today we see the promise of 3d delivered.

"Teaser" is certainly an apt description of that trailer. Also, I didn't know that Trauma Center was also by the SMT/Persona team (even though they shared the same composer). That team is quickly becoming one of my favorites development groups.

I'm guessing they meant that all those games were published by Atlus?

SMT games all get that, due to the demons. Like this happy fellow.

I think Shoptroll had it right actually, based on other readings it looked like they pulled together an all-star team with members from the dev teams of all those games.

Couldn't find all of the "other readings", but here's a couple. First one mentions pulling in the character guy from Trauma Center, both mention the other SMT game folks.

I think we've all spent way more effort than is justifiable creating a mara at one time or another.

I spent hours grinding extra levels in Persona 3 Portable for my first Mara. I had one in P4G and will likely try again in Strange Journey.
