Star Trek Online Catch-All

This thing was an epic boss just hanging out in a deepspace encounter. Took 7 of us. Had an AOE beam that if it hit you, buh-bye.

Another noob question... where do I use all the samples I find from the Anomolous nodes? I have about 3 dozen of them of the different kinds and am looking to unload them.

Go to Memory Alpha in the Alpha Centuri system. You should have a quest titled "Scientific Mandate", where you have to go talk to a guy on the Sol station, then go to Memory Alpha.

The samples can be exchanged with mk 1 items for upgraded ones.

Awesome, thanks again!

Just hit Commander and got my Tier 3 Cruiser. Thing is a beast with 6 weapons slots. Only thing that sucks (and it sucks a lot) is that you can only have one fore and one aft weapon on autofire so I'm back to slapping my spacebar constantly again. Uh. That ship is friggin' awesome. In the words of Liz Lemon, "I want to go to there."

I saw the question making the rounds yesterday on STO chat, but how exactly do you take an in-game screenshot? I poked around some options and never found it, though admittedly, I never went into all the different hotkeys.

Print Screen. It automatically turns off all the HUD stuff too.

how do you view your bridge? I never figured that out.

I need to finish ME2. I've been addicted to that but I've still been antsy to dive back into STO. I'm just not excited about having to run all the way through the Khitomer and LT ranks again.

The little drop down arrow next to your mini map. Click that and choose visit the bridge.

I do hope they expand on what you can do on your bridge in the future. Right now it is kind of pointless other than portable player housing.

With that all said I'm having a blast in the game. Just got back up to Lt 7 which is where I left off in the open beta.

OK, I picked this up this afternoon. I had sworn I was done with MMOs but... hey. It's Star Trek.

Unfortunately I'm having a bit of a rocky start.

Once I managed to come up with a User Name that wasn't taken I go to give it my subscription information. Unfortunately, all of my credit cards kept getting declined. I eventually had to give it a PayPal account (ugh) to get it to work. (C'mon Cryptic... don't you want my money?)

Then, I try to log in. Oops, the user id and password I had just entered 10 minutes before is not valid. I finally give up and have to request a password reset. 10 minutes in.

Finally I launch the client... and it immediately starts downloading a > 1Gb patch. Sigh.

I suppose I'll get into the game someday...

Sigh.

Wow, could the promotion quest be any more confusing? I ended up talking to Quinn who told me I had to choose my ship which I thought I needed 20k credits for. It turn out once I buy a ship, my ship is chosen so I can go back to Quinn who tells me of my optional promotion party. Which I go to only to get the quest progressed to the point where I can now go purchase anyone of the tier 2 ship for 1 credit. So, after all that I am a happy commander of a shiny new escort... and a new science vessel. Both of which look extremely badass and I will post pics of later.

Nice looking ships! What lvl do you have to hit before you can get out of the starting ship?

Level 11. Then you get a freebie pick of an Escort, Cruiser or Science Vessel.

Level "11" is required to be promoted to Lt Commander which I am pleased to note is equivalent rank to Data (and Geordi?) during most of the TNG series.

fangblackbone, what's the green ship?

The top 2 are shots of my tier 2 science vessel "Runamok". The bottom 2 are shots of my tier 2 escort "Dayuki".

Thanks, man. I knew of the "Print Screen" option, but didn't want to go about removing all my HUD elements. Apparently, I don't have to!

Someday, when I have a pretty ship, I'll make use of it.

So I've added my Deluxe Edition key to my account. Anyone know how I use the NX prefix? Do I need to get out of my Miranda class ship before I can use it?

When you rename your ship there is a slot for custom designation. It has two parts with the first being any number within the valid range. (something like 93000-999999 or thereabouts). The second slot appears to have room for only 2 letters or numbers. So I be that is where it goes. I didn't click on it to see if it is a drop down menu or a type in box.

When you print screen where does the image file go?

If you got it off steam its in program files/steam/steamapps/common/star trek online/star trek online/live/screenshots

= one of the worst parts about steam

Ah. Normally what I do is hit print screen and then go into Paint and hit Ctrl-V. This pastes whatever I was looking at at the time. UI and all. But I found the shots that the game took, sans interface.

Have 2 amusing lag related torpedo bugs:

I think that second box is for successive ships with the same designation, like NCC 1701-D. I'm trying to use NX instead of NCC.

Did you claim your bonus items from the C-Store? You need to click the down arrow by the mini-map, choose C-Store, go to the special unlocks tab, and claim all your stuff.

My stuff isn't there, how do I get around that; I ordered directly from Atari and registered it too. My friend who got it through Steam is having the same problem.

Also how do you sit in your Captain's chair on the bridge? It doesn't let me target it.

Can't sit, the best you can do is stand on it and do the /emote sitcaptain and hope you are lined up correctly. Its also meant for someone who is 6 feet tall, so if you deviate more that a foot or more from that don't expect to fit.

There have been widespead problems with the cryptic store and these bonuses in general. They keep mentioning that they are fixing one particular one (like the borg officer) but it seems that all of them are broken.

Do your emotes actually work with the / I have to use ;

Did you apply your retail key (not the same key that you used to get into head start)? You can check by looking at your account status on the web -- it should say under activated features "Digital Deluxe" or "Collector's Edition" or whatever you ordered.

Awesome that worked, thanks! The armor I got was just slightly better than what I had. IS the defense turret really worth anything, I'm a lvl 2 LT Cmdr running an Escort.

Of all the times my internet connection has to crap out, it has to be during a fleet action where I'm kicking ass for once.
