Star Wars Bounty Hunter. Party like it's 2002!

[moved to Steam Deck thread]

December Humble Choice is out. There are 9 games this time, versus typical 8.

For me, it's... underwhelming...

1. Bomb Rush Cyberfunk
2. Old World
3. Atlas Fallen: Reign of Sand
4. Crime Boss: Rockay City: First Mongh Edition
5. The Invincible
6. Moonstaone Island
7. Inkulinati
8. Venba
9. Monster Prom 3: Monster Roadtrip

This is probably closest this year I was to pause my membership. I already had The Invincible (already gifted it), which is probably the best game on this list (for me).

Out of the remaining 8, I would probably be most eager to try Crime Boss for sheer cringe, but it was an egs exclusive and that fact alone should have prevented me to buy this bundle. Yet, I buckled to keep the 20% store-wide discount.

So, Old World? Atlas Fallen? I don't see it... Bomb Rush has by far the highest Steam score, but I am in a grimdark phase, so it seems way too cheerful for now.

These others, I have no clue about.

Ah well...

PSA: Sony is having a sale on tons of games for the PlayStation anniversary.

Here's the list of games that are discounted:

Obviously, this post comes a little late, but Amazon had some ok deals on physical games during the Black Friday week.

Marvel's Spider-Man 2 was £36.99
Alan Wake 2 was £37.99
Astro Bot was a less good £43.99, but I cracked after completing Astro's Playroom.

Normally, I'd wait until both games drifted down to the £23 mark, but I've noticed that Amazon's own stock is often unavailable by the time this happens. I wonder whether small 3rd party resellers are indulging in some arbitrage here; buying out Amazon's stock as soon as it hits a price, then trying to resell for a modest profit over the coming weeks and months. It might explain the relatively high prices still being asked for old and/or poor selling games.

Is there no way to buy a PS+ gift membership any longer? Everywhere I can find just has Playstation store gift cards for dollar amounts. So if I want to give someone a year of PS+ I cannot do that and instead have to give them like a $50 gift card?

Probably not because those 3 or 12 month cards were being sold for a steep discount sometimes?

I've just had an experience - which may have an entirely different explanation - which makes me feel my hypothesis about arbitrage is correct.

I ordered Astro Bot - sold and fulfilled by Amazon - at £43.99 on 1st December. It was due to be delivered the following day. The delivery day was then moved back one day, to 3rd December. Then yesterday my Amazon account notified me that "your package may be lost", and allowed me to seek a refund. (I'm not suggesting that anything nefarious happened; I assume that the offer was popular, and Amazon didn't have the stock to fufill my order.)

I applied for a refund, but also attempted to repurchase the game from Amazon. No copies available from Amazon itself! And no copies available at the pre-Black Friday price of £59.99. The lowest price now £62 from a 3rd party seller...

Q.E.D?

I'd be interested to know what other GwJers think.

I know £35 is not a small amount for a "deal" but this year's Jingle Jam has some great titles. Patrick's Parabox, Shadows of a Doubt, Fights in Tight Spaces, Wildfrost, Citizen Sleeper, Another Crab's Treasure, and a few more...

Bus Simulator 21 and Lego Star Wars Skywalker Saga are both free on Epic for the next week.

Also free games for Twitch/Amazon Prime subscribers! Lotta bangers in there

Disney•Pixar WALL-E
The Outer Worlds
Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine
Spelunky
Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition
Baldur's Gate II: Enhanced Edition
Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War
Space Hulk: Deathwing - Enhanced Edition
Necromunda: Hired Gun
Quake II

Classic BG hell yeah

Also add Neverwinter Nights to that list. 11 games. Pretty cool.

I know it wasn't flavour of the month for a lot of people, but I really enjoyed the Outer Worlds, and both DLC's were excellent.

Apparently GOG is slammed. I haven't been able to redeem BG or BG2, it timed out after clicking "redeem game". Outer Worlds just failed to redeem at all.

This is wild.

EDIT: Redemption screens started asking for verify captcha things and it's going through now.

Thanks, this is a great bundle!

PSA: If you go for this, you should activate your keys ASAP. A couple of my keys from last years' Jingle Jam were reject by Steam with this:

A nice looking game from 2016 called Pankapu is free on Steam until the 18th:

There's some good games in there for my Steam Deck. Thanks for pointing it out!

Unicorn Overlord lowest price yet on Amazon at $30. Finally grabbed it

New Dragon Age is 35% off already on Steam. $39

Did egs stopped hijacking games?

No?

The boycott continues.

Huh, what's epic been doing?

Occasionally, they will financially support the development of a game in exchange for timed exclusivity on their store front. For some reason, this infuriates a percentage of PC gamers, who do not want to deal with the outrage and indignity of installing a launcher other than Steam.

So, in answer to your question: "Nothing, really."

Well worth checking in every day to see what game they are giving away. Usually some indie-type stuff with one or two AAA surprises.

Ah that. I'm aware - not long ago I talked to somebody who considered Epic a walled garden, exactly like the iOS App Store, because they have exclusivity deals.

Looks like the daily stuff on Epic starts next week. Countdown for mystery game is 6 days and 20 hours.

The holiday sale did start though. Lots of stuff on sale and 10% points for buying instead of the usual 5%
