Video Game Deals Catch-All

Free on Epic:
Bloons TD 6 (repeat? Or maybe it was free from Prime Gaming?)
Loop Hero (repeat)

Still Loop Hero is great. Get it.

Loop Hero is a lot of fun. For free, it’s a no brainer, just go grab it.

I have both in my library already so I think both are repeats this week.

Beecarbonize is free on steam. This is card based climate change game. You fight against global warming using cards. Yeah I don't get it either.

Just as effective as humanity’s current strategy.

Citizen Sleeper new lowest price sale $11.99 on Steam, GOG and Humble

Free on Epic:
Europa Universalis IV (repeat)
Orwell: Keeping an Eye on You

Hm, Assassin's Creed free weekend started this afternoon too.

On Xbox One and Series X/S, all five games are available as part of the free weekend. On Ubisoft Connect, Assassin's Creed II, Brotherhood, Revelations and Valhalla are available as part of the free weekend. On PlayStation, Assassin's Creed Valhalla is available in the free weekend, while the Ezio Collection and Assassin's Creed IV Black Flag are available as part of the PlayStation Extra subscription service. Finally, on Epic Games Store, only Assassin's Creed Valhalla is part of the free weekend.

Doubt I could beat Valhalla in 4 days but maybe I should try... haha.

EDIT: It's the same price on Epic and Ubisoft Connect, for all versions of Valhalla. But you get a free $5 on Ubisoft store. Of course you get some kind 5% back on Epic, but less than $5 worth....

Also, the Ubisoft Store is running a special promotion. Players will get an extra $5 (or equivalent local currency) as a credit in their wallet when they buy any version of Assassin's Creed Origins, Odyssey or Valhalla through August 17. Players will be able to spend this extra $5 on Mirage at launch or on any product available from Ubisoft Store through October 19.

EDIT 2: Ok one more thing. It's actually $2-3 cheaper on Fanatical, depending on version. And it's $3-4 cheaper on GMG too. Both of those sell the same Ubisoft Connect version. And heck even if you do buy it on Epic, it installs through Ubisoft Connect. So might as well try it free and then buy it from GMG/Fanatical if you want it.

If you have Amazon Prime or Twitch Prime, you can get a free GOG code for Quake 4.

This new Fanatical Bundle has Lair of the Clockwork God for $1. I cannot recommend it enough. There's a few other decent games in there as well.

Unity of Command (Steam key) is free on Fanatical for the next week or so.

Moonbreaker is free to play for the next 5 days to coincide with their big ranked + faction update. Also on a bit of a discount.

This is one of the best games I've played in a long time, but it has been consistently plagued by a low playerbase. It launched in EA with some pretty lame microtransactions, but the devs quickly listened to feedback and completely removed any additional purchases. Unfortunately, that initial backlash seems to have turned people off trying it which is a shame!

To describe it simply: It's like a tabletop skirmish version of Hearthstone with less random chance. You build a "deck" of miniatures (which you can completely paint yourself!!!) and have to hold points/destroy the enemy commander. There are SO. MANY. SYNERGIES between units and the free movement lets you get pretty creative with your strategy. The voice cast is also absurdly good, and gives the game a tonne of personality.

Please check it out if you're a fan of any of the following: Hearthstone, Warhammer (Killteam in particular), Demeo, Marvel Midnight Suns, Maaaybe Baldur's Gate 3 (it has similar movement/action economy!)

It's a game so good that it deserves to see success, hence why I'm writing all of this. Seeing this gem so low on the Steam playcount charts just doesn't seem right.

I should get back into it. Have not played in like a year. I too was weirded out by the (very complicated but ineffectual) currencies, back when it started, and decided to wait and see where they would take it. But the battles were a lot of fun, right from the start.

Isn’t it ultimately going to be free to play? I have a hard time spending money on something that I know is going FTP in the near future. That’s been the only thing holding me off.

Is there something deeply disappointing there for someone who basically wants digital tabletop 40k/warmachine?

I can't see how the main comparison (hearthstone) adds anything good to the moment to moment gameplay, if it does. Maybe thats just the deckbuilding part?

I worked for 2 years on my own tabletop style VR game. It was going to look a lot like this looks only since its VR you'd actually reach out to pick your mini up and put it down. I regret not taking it further, but it was so expensive to do right on my own and publisher interest in VR dried up. This game does look cool in the 'Im glad someone did this' sense, so I probably need to get it for that reason alone, though Im not really a fan of the character design overall.

So grab your free game when the stores update early tomorrow, if you can.

Got a few days to beat it before Starfield.

EDIT: Nope they were wrong. It's PS+ Extra, not Essential.

Whoa, that is amazing! I was just looking at this one today, thinking that maybe one day I might buy it. Guess now I don't have any excuse but to try it out!

Help! Pillars of Eternity Two is on sale on Steam for 9.99$. Is it worth an extra five bucks for the Obsidian edition?

No. But maybe worth an extra $2.75 on GamersGate.

IsThereAnyDeal

And as you can see Fanatical had the whole thing for $9.99 in January. So you could wait for another sale there too. Lots of options

What I meant is is the DLC compelling? Or is the base game good enough in your opinion if you’ve played it?

I never finished the first PoE. Loaded it back up last month when PoE2 was on sale and tried to figure out WTF I was doing. I'm determined to at least give it a go before buying the second. So I have no idea, except I've wondered the same thing.

The turn based mode is incorporated into the game now. So if you were struggling with RTwP, turn based should help.

Hero of the Kingdom II free on GOG.

I think I've played all of these in the series. I don't remember any of it really but it is oddly enjoyable in a chill sort of way. Recommended if not remembered.

In my opinion, especially one of the Pillars of Eternity 2 DLCs are really good, some of the best content in the game, another was also good, while the last was mostly an arena fight dlc without any story.

Worth it? Yes. Only argument against would be that the game is already long, so it isn’t necessarily in dire need of extra content.

On the other hand, MS/Obsidian need to get around to making PoE3. So you really should buy 2 copies instead!

Free on Epic, a repeat:
Cave Story+

LEGO 2K Drive is having a free weekend on Steam. This is what I was waiting for. I've heard good things about it, so I'm definitely giving it a go.

Everything I’ve seen about Lego 2K Drive has been really impressive, except for the monetizations. Reminds me of the feel of The Crew, but with Lego, so definitely in my wheelhouse. A free trial seems like just the ticket.
