Video Game Deals Catch-All

I only really enjoyed the game with the green expansion. Teraforming mars and seeing it get green is nice and a fun objective. My only complaint is the lack of a real ending for it. Not even a splash screen saying your finished.

Definitely a fun game and worth the $10 to me.

The Sinking City is available for $10 on Xbox right now.

It's not a AAA game, but I like what it is trying to do.

Worth noting that there are two versions available, and two sub-versions of those. The version that's on sale right now, that's just "The Sinking City" and "The Sinking City - Necronomicon Edition" in the store, is the original version that came out for the original Xbox One.

There's another version, called "The Sinking City Xbox Series X|S", is the upgraded version, with these changes:

  • 4K (3840x2160) resolution
  • 60 frames per second
  • Improved graphical fidelity
  • Improved loading times
  • Additional quests - part of the Merciful Madness DLC (included in Deluxe Edition, or as a separate purchase)

Those two versions are essentially completely different games, and owning one doesn't get you access to the other. The reason is that there was some kind of legal conflict between the developer and the original publisher. Something like the original publisher wasn't paying Frogware what they were owed, so Frogware jumped ship. The easiest way to tell the difference between the two is actually to check the publisher on the store page. "Frogware" is the newer, supported version. "Big Ben Interactive" is the old, unsupported version with the sketchy publisher.

Personally, I'd hold off on getting the older version and wait for a sale on the new one, both because it seems like the better option, and also because the old publisher seems pretty crummy and shouldn't get any money. I'm saying this as someone who bought the original not too long before the new version was announced.

Arrgh. I had held off buying this game for years because of the rights conflict. I really wanted to support Frogwares vice scummy publisher. (But, I also wanted to get it on sale.) I even did a quick search on the current status of the conflict before buying the game, but I didn't find any up to date info. I didn't even consider that there might be two different editions on the Xbox marketplace.

I regret my choices!

Dungeon Warfare 2 is on sale on Steam for a little over $5. It's a pretty nice little 2D tower defense game with Dungeon Keeper vibes and physics based traps. Seems more than worth the $5.

Absolutely worth the money. It's one of the finest TDs I've ever played.

Also available on mobile if that tickles your fancy.

I think it's worth it. It's on par with City Skylines not in simulation but in my opinion the bang for buck and mileage you can get out of it.

It's not overly complex but it has a lot of moving parts and systems where one failure can leave to a systemic collapse of a colony. The difficulty ramp up lies in balancing the rate of expansion with sustainable resource consumption/production. It's also fun to terraform Mars into a green planet but I think there's plenty of mileage in the base game as well.

It's not a rushed gameplay either. You can play at normal speed and just chill with your rate of construction so there's that, too. And the music is nice.

Hmmm...They are Billions is finally less than $20.00, now at $19.49. I've heard a lot of good things.

Mecha Nights: Nightmare at $11.99 will be hard for me to resist.

Relicta free on Epic. No idea what it is.

Next Thursday, Daemon X Machina! I wanted to pick that up on Switch multiple times but never saw it below $40.

Looking at Deku Deals, it appears it only ever dropped below that price once, for 2-3 days, as a physical copy at Best Buy.

Relicta is a physics puzzle game that was probably inspired by Portal. No GLaDOS, but the system is unique and interesting. I think you're manipulating magnetism and gravity.

It has a decent story overlay and also features cubes (not anthropomorphized).

I played the demo, didn't get all the way through because of life reasons, and I never got back to it but have been wanting to. So I'm glad it's now on Epic. I think it's worth a look if you enjoyed Portal.

There was that, and also I was a bit dubious about how the performance would be on the Switch, so I was waiting for a low enough price before biting. I think free + being on PC will solve all those problems.

Well, I didn't buy They Are Billions for under $20 but I did buy Vampire Survivors on Steam for $2.99 which totally scratches that itch and is still in Early Access. Exactly the kind of cuckoo-bananas game I was looking for and so productivity is now -20%.

And it's here, free on Epic!

Next week looks like a repeat of Yooka Laylee

so productivity is now -20%.

After productivity goes below 0% does it wrap around to hyper productivity

If anyone likes PSVR Gamestop has Doom 3 VR for $5.

It gets stuck at -0. You're safe.

Another Epic sale on now, the voucher is back but in the UK it is £8 and not £10, but on games over £11.99 (not £13.99).

Daemon X Machina also has some free DLC on epic.

There is also a Steam sale in progress.

Three people could team up on this and get a game each. You can even send to multiple address directly from Amazon.

Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch Remastered (PS4) $5.87 at Gamestop.

I need to return to this game, but it was such as slog at times. Gorgeous as it is.

Elden Ring on Newegg for $49.99 with code EMCBPAA34.

GMG has had a similar price for a bit without need for code/coupon:
Elden Ring for $50.39

This is a few days old now, but no one else posted it so I will:

Windbound free on Epic Store until 2/17

I remember this one had some buzz around here when it came out, since it gave everyone obvious Windwaker vibes. But then it turned out to be more of a survival game with a story that was broken up by chapters, and you got kicked back to the start of a the chapter if you died. That sort of killed the buzz. No idea if that has been changed or not, but for free I grabbed it.

Damn, doesn't work for the Xbox version.

Wow! X-Com 2 is $3.60 on Steam. The collection bundle is $6.99. Tempted, even though I didn't enjoy the first one too much. Guess I'll give the free weekend a try.
