Yay. I was annoyed at Epic pricing it at 14.79 instead of $14.99 so I couldn't use the $10 off coupon and get it for $5. This is better.

Oh, man that looks like old school Disciples!

I don't know Disciples but it is most like Darkest Dungeon with an interesting crafting mechanic. Definitely worth it for $0. Arguably worth it for more than that

Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury for Switch is $45 on Amazon, which is about as cheap as it has ever been.

Gods Will Fall is free on Epic.

This Fanatical Bundle is interesting. Everhood and Before Your Eyes are two hidden gems from last year. If there's anything else you're interested in, it's probably a good deal for $10. I'd say those two games for $10 is already a great deal if they're your type of thing.

SM3DW is not only the best Mario ever, but it's the best multiplayer Mario by miles. Super good for playing with young kids, supports up to 4 players.

Bowser's Fury is more similar to Odyssey and is also delightful.

Nintendo eShop with a big New Year's sale now.

Ori and the Blind Forest and several other games at lowest price ever. Check deku deals for more

I am always surprised by things I have put on my wish list but then decided that I don't want to buy it even when it is on sale.

Like Captain Tsubasa: Rise of New Champions. On sale for $20 from $60. Pretty huge sale but I am just like...I have a lot of stuff currently I can wait.

If it is a game I will play right now I'll buy it at any price. If I have no idea when I will get to it the game has to be $5 or less or a game I don't have in its genre. No point in buying a 100 hour rpg if I have a 100 hour rpg I haven't gotten to yet.

I've got to start looking at my wishlist with the idea "This game has been on 80% sale ten times. It costs about as much as lunch at Burger King. And yet you haven't bought it. You're clearly not going to, so X it off the list and move on."

I've started to work under the principle that if I don't think I will get to it within 6 months, I pass on it no matter what the discount is. The fear of the game being full price when I actually want to play it almost never happens. Meanwhile, something returning on sale for the same discount or even being much cheaper before I even played it happens constantly.

I've tried to follow this in my life over the past decade in every aspect in order to stop collecting junk. It doesn't matter if the book is $2 at a yard sale - If it's going to sit on my shelf collecting dust, it's not a deal, it's a waste of money.

I need a motivational poster of this

This one?

The free games on epic have almost entirely replaced buying steam games on sale for me. Maybe this was their strategy all along.

Yes, but are you buying games on Epic now?

You can buy games on Epic? I thought they were a free game website that also dances to the fortnight?

If I buy a game, I certainly give more weight to buying it in Epic now, and it’s entirely because of being in the ecosystem due to their free games.

And the $10 off coupons don't hurt.

I've bought a few games on Epic now - not because of their exclusivity, or because I have a bunch of free games from there, but mostly because of their £10 voucher scheme. If it's single player, indie, or Ubisoft, then I have no real care which platform it is on, and games that go on sale for £15 on Steam, suddenly become £5 on EGS during a sale. Games can be added to Steam if I really wanted to, or everything can be managed centrally with an application like GOG Galaxy, or Playnite.

Ubisoft games are no real shakes because they add to your Ubi account anyway, and you can then install them using either the Epic launcher or Ubisoft Connect (formerly Uplay).

Yeah pretty sure AC Odyssey was the first thing I actually bought on Epic.

And then I got the DLC season pass from Fanatical or somewhere like that for sub $10 since it worked on Ubi anyway

Mass Effect Legendary Edition is the Star Deal on Fanatical for $26.39. That's a good price, right, for those of us who don't have it yet?

Yeah it hit $30 a bunch. $25 and change is the lowest price so far.

I think the console version may have been $20 or $25 over a holiday sale, but can't track that.

If it's an Epic timed PC exclusive, I wait for it to come to Steam to not buy it there because I've moved on to other games by then. I just play whatever is free via Epic, Amazon (Twitch), GoG, or whatever, but mostly what comes to PC Game Pass. I think Horizon Zero Dawn (Steam) at about $20 is the most I've spent in the last 2 years on a PC game.

Just play via Game Pass for $1 if you're not already subscribed, and $10/month after that, or use MS rewards points to make it free.

The Sinking City is available for $10 on Xbox right now.

It's not a AAA game, but I like what it is trying to do.

Worth noting that there are two versions available, and two sub-versions of those. The version that's on sale right now, that's just "The Sinking City" and "The Sinking City - Necronomicon Edition" in the store, is the original version that came out for the original Xbox One.

There's another version, called "The Sinking City Xbox Series X|S", is the upgraded version, with these changes:

  • 4K (3840x2160) resolution
  • 60 frames per second
  • Improved graphical fidelity
  • Improved loading times
  • Additional quests - part of the Merciful Madness DLC (included in Deluxe Edition, or as a separate purchase)

Those two versions are essentially completely different games, and owning one doesn't get you access to the other. The reason is that there was some kind of legal conflict between the developer and the original publisher. Something like the original publisher wasn't paying Frogware what they were owed, so Frogware jumped ship. The easiest way to tell the difference between the two is actually to check the publisher on the store page. "Frogware" is the newer, supported version. "Big Ben Interactive" is the old, unsupported version with the sketchy publisher.

Personally, I'd hold off on getting the older version and wait for a sale on the new one, both because it seems like the better option, and also because the old publisher seems pretty crummy and shouldn't get any money. I'm saying this as someone who bought the original not too long before the new version was announced.
