Video Game Deals Catch-All

I worked hard (not really) to get my free WD2 and... it's amusing, but underwhelming.

Did not show up for me. Oh well. I can live with that no problem.

Torchlight 2 is this week's free game on Epic.

If you pick this up I recommend playing with the Synergies mod. It adds towns, monster types, character classes, and more. It's an excellent piece of fan work that makes this freebie an even better value.

Ohhh, does this work for co-op?

Same. Somehow I'll have to work through this tragedy.

Watchdogs 2 just showed up for me.

fwiw, I got my WD2 the day after the event.
It took me forever to log in, but it came through.

Already owned Watch Dogs 2 since 2016. Can't believe it was that long ago. Only put in 8 hours then, but got distracted by other things (2016 was a big year for games).

But damn, still looks good today on max settings.

I've had Watch Dogs 2 for a while, but fired it up last night for the first time. Looks good and plays well.

Maybe we need an impromptu game club for it with everyone getting a copy.

I just got mine.

I bounced hard off the first one because I hated the main character so much, but I figure for free I'll try the second one...

All the Steamworld games are on sale on Switch eShop again. All matching previous record low price.

Sorry, I don't know. I never went beyond the single-player campaign and I don't see anything in the mod's description about co-op.

While poking around I saw a post at the original link that recommends getting the mod from ModDB, instead.

So, here's that link.

I was like "what, you can't just get it through Steam Workshop?" And then I remembered we're talking about it because of the EGS giveaway.

Warhammer 40k: Rites of War is free on GoG for the next couple of days.

Good recommendation. I thought Nexus Mods went away?

Far Cry 5 PS4 is 85% off ($11.99)

Someone enable me adding this to my PS4 pile

It’s so cheap it would be silly NOT to buy it!

I felt pretty burned out on FC after 4, bounced off whatever that ice age game of theirs was, and the critical reception of 5 didn’t encourage me to try again.

I'd save your money for something else. I got the PC version a week or so ago and it's a lazy carbon copy of previous games. The plot is on rails with how they advance the story too.

It's the little details that make the difference, like your pet bear and dog.

I noticed that Far Cry 4 is 5$ and Far Cry 5 is $8 on the PSN store. If I haven't played a Far Cry game since the first one which should I get? Metacritic has them at roughly the same overall score so I am leaning towards 5 since I assume it will be prettier and have some refinements.

What do people think?

I think the consensus is 4 is a bit better story and 5 was formulaic and didn't take any specific advantage of being set in the US. Ubisoft didn't take any chances on FC5.

Also 5 apparently has some auto-kidnapping of the player that makes absolutely no sense story-wise and is annoying game-play-wise. That kept me away after enjoying 4 and Primal.

I think the big difference was who do you want to shoot?

I am skipping over both for other reasons but I never got them because 3 was fine and blood dragon was fun, but I didn't need more. After those two games.

Oh man. Blood Dragon.

Looks like I need to reinstall!

Er... uh, sorry. I thought you said something else.

Saw Ring Fit Adventure finally back in stock today, online at GameStop. Maybe other stores getting some too finally. Been out of stock everywhere since Feb. Know some around here were looking.

Ring Fit is already out of stock again at Gamestop.

Throwing a couple more logs onto the ridiculous Epic "games you will probably never play" pile: Next Up Hero and Tacoma are now Free.

GOG Galaxy 2 recently enabled Epic Library items and it added 126 titles. I've paid for four items? Maybe five? Insane.

Epic's Summer Sale has also started

I thought they just finished a summer sale! Dang Civ VI Gathering Storm is still $20 at its sale price. Such an expensive expansion!
