Video Game Deals Catch-All

I saw this on reddit, and even in my mid-30's I've felt like this before... "You know you’re old anytime you’re entering your DOB with a smartphone you get to the year and you have to spin that bitch like you’re on Wheel of Fortune."

And that's why I give it a good swipe and just pick something valid.

I always enter January 1, 1970 because I like to see which developers didn’t validate dates properly and can’t handle a timestamp of 0. Us old people have to entertain ourselves any way we can.

That reminds me of the all-time greatest age verification UI - when you booted up the original Leisure Suit Larry, it would "confirm" that you're old enough to play by asking trivia questions about Watergate and the Beatles and whatnot.

Farming Simulator 19 is free on Epic.

Next Thursday, Epic will be giving away three videogame implementations of modern-classic board games: Carcassonne, Ticket to Ride, and Pandemic. Definitely something to look forward to.

The Lords of Midnight and Doomdark’s Revenge are free on GOG.

A reminder there are less than 3 hours until the end of the Humble EU4 deal!

I got the lot but the $1 tier is a no-brainer if you want to try out the game

I didn't see this listed on their home page anywhere but searching for those games showed the price as free so I added them to my cart and checked out. Thanks for the head's up!

OK, so not a specific game deal as such but definitely a good gaming deal in my opinion.

I've been using Nvidia's GeForce Now service in Beta for the last year. As a Macbook Pro user who hasn't (yet?) invested in a gaming PC, I've found their service a great benefit.

It's a game streaming service to allow you to play games you already own with minimal lag (with a good connection and bandwidth). I can play games such as Prey, Destiny 2 and Doom (2016), also my Paradox strategy games with high graphics and no strain on my older laptop. I can also play PC only games on my Mac

Today it's just come out of Beta and anyone in the US/Europe can use it for free (with limitations) or paid $4.99 a month!

Here's a link to an article with full details about the service and a review:

It's not a time-limited giveaway; those two titles are now totally free. There's a picture and link at the bottom-right of the GOG home page announcing that Two Classics Become Freebies on GOG.com.

Carcassonne & Ticket to Ride are free on epic.

Strange... Pandemic was supposed to be included as well. Still, two good pick-ups, at least.

I knew I saw another one, but couldn't remember what it was.

Yeah, that might look in poor taste with coronavirus in the news....

stop cosplaying pandemic Jonman!

Sorry for the offtopic rant but....

...I read Pandemic and thought of Mercenaries and The Saboteur. Did that studio ever develop into another one actively making games?

But it doesn't with the flu? (insert extremely tired epidemiologist sigh here)

Super glad to nab Carcassonne and Ticket to Ride! Though I do get more use out of them on my iPad.

Not afaik. I LOVED Mercenaries and am still periodically trying to finish Mercenaries 2.

EA closed them down because they made good games people didn't buy enough of, apparently.

Wikipedia says this though:

Over a dozen former Pandemic developers are now employed at 343 Industries having worked on Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary and Halo 4. Other former employees have gone to work for Infinity Ward, Treyarch, Respawn Entertainment, Blendo Games and many others.

So, basically, they're mostly at top tier FPS companies.

And Blendo Games since I didn't know anyone worked there except Brendon Chung.

Brendon Chung worked at Pandemic before founding Blendo

We are... e v e r y w h e r e

Nice, I had no idea!

The Division 2 is $3 on the Microsoft store.

Supposedly an expansion or something was leaked for Division 2. You're going back to NY.

I don't think is a leak, is just Episode 3. Today is the "big" reveal with some new stuff

BTW is also on offer on PS4 and PC

Wow $3?

Man, I need to get back to this game. The trailers look so cool.

Count me in for $3. Combined with the microsoft rewards points special, 20% less points for a $5 giftcard, free game.

I think I’ll grab it on the PS4. I’m curious, it says “Paid PlayStation Plus subscription required for online multiplayer” which I don’t have.... isn’t the whole premise of this game online multiplayer?

Yeah, I don't believe you can play at all unless you have PS+.

If you're going to solo the game you don't need PS+. You will need it for coop and matchmaking though.

I looked it up because I played The Division 1 without PS+ on PS4 and it seems to be the same for 2.
