Yeah, not really closed though. They call it closed but you can get a key real easy from crystalkeep and many other sites. But hell they keep calling it an MMO as well, and it is far from one of those.

9v9 is hardly massive.

Don't want to sh*t on the game if some are enjoying it, it bores the hell out of me, and I find it rather bland. That being said I have a couple friends that are enamored with it at the moment.

Reports so far are saying it's something similar to NavyField.

9v9? Yeah.. definitely not massive. If it is I guess that makes TF2 an MMO. Any idea if they're planning on charging a subscription for this? That's the only reason I can see for them billing it as an MMO.

Free to play with micro transactions.

Hmmm...

Right now it is 15v15, at least all the matches I have been in. Somewhere I read they are pushing to 30v30 soon.

Anyway I am kind of surprised at the depth of it - I was not expecting much. Also it has a persistent battle map that clans can take territory I think...

Look me up , armedbushido in game.

If you like WWII era tanks and don't mind grinding, this might be the game for you. I've found it surprisingly fun, and even better if teams can manage communication. Like armedbushido pointed out, there's a surprising amount of depth on the battlefield that goes along with the leveling mechanic.

All tanks have weakpoints whether it is specific to the type or the tank in particular. Hardpoints such as the gun barrel, engine, ammo racks, or tank tracks can be damaged (and repaired). The tank crew roles can be injured or knocked out, resulting in worse driving or slower loading times for your gun. AP rounds are great for penetration and heavy damage, but can be deflected if not aimed correctly. HE rounds vary in damage, but can break tank treads or deliver critical damage to open-top vehicles. Ramming can be used to great effect depending on the tank's weight and speed. It's also important to point out that ammo racks do explode and the tank will catch on fire. If the crew is not able to put it out, all of the tank systems will malfunction one by one and might result in the aforementioned tank exploding.

So far, the beta is split between the Germans and USSR, each having light, medium, heavy tanks, tank destroyers, and SPG's (artillery). I'm hoping for a U.S. tank tree, even though our tanks weren't as good in comparison. I just want to yell out "Sherman taking hits!"

I create a channel once in game.

This game plays a perfect balance between hardcore and casual so far for me. The amount of depth is amazing. Like Kerplunk stated ammo racks explode and damage is determined by the amount of ammo - so no ammo no damage.

Again the only downer so far is it is a grinder...

Auto Assault was basically a MMO of tanks, just some of them looked like cars. How does this one compare?

So I just signed up for the beta based almost entirely on the name.

Assuming I get accepted in, what can I expect in the way of gameplay?

Update: I'm in. I'll probably d/l this weekend after I lose my starcraft match.

In terms of gameplay, it's team deathmatch with a base capture mechanic. For the most part, you kill the enemy team, but if you manage to sneak into the enemy base and wait in the circle until the meter fills up to 100, your team wins. Also, the number of tanks within the circle increases the rate of capture. If any tank dies while capturing, a chunk of the meter will disappear. (I assume it's the amount contributed by the destroyed tank.)

So... it's battlefield with only 1 point of control and no one can get out of their tank and plant c4 on me? Fair enough.

I'm in beta. Shoot me a friend invite. Sydhart is my username.

So far I find it fun but balance appears to be a big issue (artillery is way too accurate and can one shot most tanks) as well as terrain collision. My tank can bust through a house but can get stuck on tiny hills?

They talk about this on a WoW podcast I listen to. I thought it was a joke at first :).

Looks great.

Open Beta starts tomorrow.

Game has launched! I made it back up to the M3 Lee last night. Anyone else playing still?

Anyone playing this? I loved beta...

I jumped in yesterday morning at the tail end of a whirlwind F2P MMO tour. It may not yet fully deserve the MMO moniker but I had a ton of fun with it. Granted it was pretty much made for folks who prefer the strategic elements of tank warfare to twitch gaming so I am helpless to fight off it's allure. The game has a ton of potential and yet it's a lot of fun right now too, so I'm all in.

I registered and got the email to activate my account but every time i try to log in it says i'm not registered.

Stupid question but: Did you click the link in your email?

I'm bad but not that bad

I'm playing on the EU Server, just about into the A-20 again (made it to the T-34-85 in the Beta)

I'm playing on the AMR server

I reregistered and everything is working now. Was able to get a couple hours in on it. Enough to get to T2.

Well my alias, drum roll = armedbushido!

I loving the game - however I do see the grind and the need to spend $...

Is the gold in game bought by real cash?

Yes. The use of gold is pretty versatile. You can convert it into credits for tank/module purchases. You can convert XP gained in a specific tank into Free xp to use on any tank. You can buy 'premium time' which gets you 2x XP and money gain rate and a few other perks. Then there's some gold only tanks you can buy, though those are little shortcuts that give you a taste of what its like to drive a different sort of tank without putting you in something you're going to dominate everyone in.

I havent made a real money purchase yet but I think I will soon to grab a month of premium time, some 100% trained crews and convert the rest into credits.

You can also covert xp into gold someone, not sure however... Still I based on my play it would take a "lifetime" get to upper tiers without spending any cash.
