The Hunter: Catch All

Anyone interested in a multiplayer game/mini-tourney this weekend? It would have to be Saturday, I think, and likely limited to Mule Deer so that those of you without memberships can participate.

Alright, putting my foot down. This Saturday, Juy 20th, at 12 PM MT, I'll be throwing up a room on thehunter.com for a mini-tourney for mule deer, so that even non-members can get in on it. Should have room for 5-6 people (rooms max at 8, but not sure how stable the game will be - if we get that many, we can try it.)

BE THERE!

I'll plan on it. That time should work great for me.

I think I can be there as well.

alas, wish I could. Im away this weekend.

**EDIT**
Because of the new patch, I'm sliding the start time back to 12:30 PM Mountain. Game will be created at 12:15 Mountain.

We're not scheduled to start for another 30 minutes or so, but I'm just setting up the room in game. Just look for the room called GWJ Mini-Tourney, password is, as always, stan. This is our first time, so please bear with us until we can nail down the format. The room can hold a max of 8 people, but to be honest I'm not really expecting that many.

Location: Logger's Point

Start Lodge: Either lodge

Rules: I haven't decided if the tournament should be an hour or two, so for now we'll go with an hour and see how things play out. If we need more time, we can go longer. During this time, hunters must compete in two categories for Mule Deer:

1. Highest Score
2. Longest distance

At the end, we'll call the tournament and declare the winners. There won't be any prizes yet, but in the future I'll likely hand out em$ to winners. The hunt statistics won't let me view the stats for the hunt for everyone, but if everyone posts their theHunter usernames, I can go into your personal stats and check the results there. (It may be helpful to send a friend request to Xeknos before we start.)

If you haven't installed any updates for theHunter in a while, you may wish to do so now - they can take a while.

We'll also be using ventrilo for the tourney. Meet in the Minecraft channel.

It should also go without saying, but NO GRIEFING! Meaning no discharging your weapons if you aren't lining up a shot on a target - we don't want people ruining other folks' shots.

Hopefully we'll see you there!

Shoot. I totally forgot. I'm gonna download it now and hopefully I'll be able to join in soon. Gotta set up vent on my newish build, too.

Results:

Total Score:
1. Xeknos: 201.652
2. Gaald: 181.692
3. Yonder: 115.552

Shot Distance:
1. Yonder: 103.560 m (339.8 ft)
2. Gaald: 57.370 m (188.2 ft)
3. Xeknos: 27.360 m (89.8 ft)

Thanks to everyone who participated. Seems like 2 hours is a little better as far as time limits go. I'd be interested in turning this into a weekly/monthly thing if there's enough interest.

I got a 3 month membership, so I'll be down for more of them!

Had a blast hunting for hours with Gaald. I'm gonna be playing for another couple hours tonight if anyone wants to join in. I'll just start a multiplayer game in case anyone wants to join in on the fun. I'm in the Vent Minecraft channel and will name the game "GWJ - tuffalobuffalo" with a password of "Stan".

This game is so much fun with the membership.

I'll jump on when I get home.

I think I'm done today. I'll be on tomorrow.

Well, I'm about to get started hunting for the day and imagine I'll probably be at it most of the day. If anyone wants to do multiplayer, I'm sitting in the Vent Minecraft channel. Any non-members could join in for a Mule deer hunt because I have a subscription now.

I'll come hunt for a bit.

Here's that 365.553 Elk from early this morning:

I mentioned in-game that it would be rad and annoying if they had that mosquito by your ear sound in the game. Then, it turned out they do have that noise to a degree. It's not that right by your ear noise, though. I found it amusing that today's XKCD is related:

Alt Text: "It beat out 'Clock radio alarm', 'B-flat at 194 decibels', 'That noise from Dumb & Dumber', and 'Recording of a sobbing voice begging you to answer'.

Anyone feel up to a mini-tourney/GWJ Free Hunt today?

I'm gonna be gone most of today. Tomorrow?

That'll work.

Great! It's a plan. Any time works for me.

I'll be ready in about an hour but will be around all day. If anyone has a specific time they'd like to do the tournament, chime in!

Whenever works for everyone else, really. I, too, will be around all day.

How about shooting for 10:00 am PST/1:00 PM EST and doing a 1 hour tournament?

That's acceptable.

And, of course, that GWJ Let's Play puts me right back in the mood for shooting animals in the face.

And it's on Steam!

Just watched the Let's Play, and now I'm intrigued...

We used to do group hunts using the multiplayer. With all of your help, it can be this way again!

That being said, how does the Steam version work if Hunter is launched from a browser?

I have to October 20th until my subscription lapses. I'd love to get in a group hunt or two before then, but I probably won't put any more money into it because I'm short on time these days.

I don't suppose you have a link to it? I am unable to find it searching.
