The Hunter: Catch All

I'm going to DQ my 620ft shot and 189rtg buck since the hunt happened a few hours prior to the start of this tourney.
My best from tonight's hunt was the following:
Mule deer (M)
Score: 148.860
Weight: 100.750 kg (222.1 lbs)
Time of Harvest: Mar 23 2012 23:01
Shots Hit: 1
Shot Distance: 97.700 m (320.5 ft)
Weapons Used: .243 Bolt Action Rifle (Wood)

I was tracking one slightly smaller buck for quite a while and was just lining up the shot when I noticed this guy cresting the hill above my intended target. Dropped him with one shot, and then tried to line up a second on the now fleeing first buck. Tracked him for quite a bit longer before I ended up losing his tracks.

On the bright side I hit lvl 5 tracking for mules. My next hunt I'll be able to distinguish between males and females.

Edit: Managed to best my score and weight on my most recent hunt, definitely nice to tell male from female.

Mule deer (M)
Score: 159.290
Weight: 109.842 kg (242.2 lbs)
Time of Harvest: Mar 24 2012 14:38
Shots Hit: 1
Shot Distance: 19.220 m (63.1 ft)
Weapons Used: .243 Bolt Action Rifle (Wood)

Found another bachelor group tonight. None bested my top Score (ranged from 109-150) and Weight (214-232lbs) but I did manage a kill shot (head) on one of them at 556 feet.

Mule deer (M)109.408
Score: 109.408
Weight: 105.523 kg (232.6 lbs)
Time of Harvest: Mar 28 2012 21:39
Shots Hit: 1
Shot Distance: 169.650 m (556.6 ft)
Weapons Used: .243 Bolt Action Rifle (Wood)

Anyone know how if it is possible to take screenshots from within the game?

And the tail end of the post:

Oh... and there might be something special happening in-game on Sunday, it is April 1st after all...

This game needs more exposure.

The advantage for it being on Steam would be the distribution of the client, which a lot of people here have had problems with.

Greenlight it!

I heard about this game on the conference call a couple months ago, and have been playing it ever since. The sense of immersion I get from the game is amazing, not just "for a game like this", but for *any* game. The closest thing I can compare it to is the sense of connection from a walk through an *actual* forest.

Seeing as how the last activity was months ago, I have my doubts, but is anyone up for some more friendly competition?

I would re-up a subscription if we held another tourney.

Green light this game!!!

Just FYI, a new Biggest Mule competition began this morning, ending on Sunday.

If you post your username and competition level, I'll do the legwork for a GWJ scoreboard.

I'm echoback, at the Starter level.

I'd love to do a new tourney, unfortunately I am going to be traveling quite a bit for a week or so.

We can throw another tourney. I'll handle the stats.

How about next weekend? Anyone want to put up some prizes? If we get enough people (maybe 8-10 peeps), I'll throw in a $10 Amazon gift card for highest Mule Buck rack score.

Holler back, younginz.

I will be unavailable next weekend as well, though I can do the weekend of the 16-18th.

Part of Grubber's gaming video series. Check it out.

I will be sure to ask my mom whether she used the proper caliber weapon to ethically kill the Thanksgiving turkey, though I can already picture in my mind her not-amused facial expression.

The last time I played this was when coyotes were added to the game, I think. I logged in today and was happy to find they've done a lot of updating. It's still a little odd to launch, but much improved. The UI is better, they've added lots and lots of animals (if you don't mind paying to hunt), and maybe best of all, they added the thing many of us were wishing for.

Whoa, multiplayer actually would be crazy fun. I do like going solo, but MP would be a blast using vent. Does the mode cost money?

Hmm, I don't know!

Blog post about the release of multiplayer, but I don't see anything about paying for multiplayer. I think it'd be a bad idea to restrict that - why not let two people hunt muleys together for free - but I can't find it for sure.

How long until The Most Dangerous Game mod?

Ahh, here we go. Smart way to do it.

"Guests can now enter any reserve, both in multiplayer and singleplayer, but are only allowed to hunt Mule Deer unless another license has been purchased. Guests are not allowed to host multiplayer games but can join members if the host allows it."

I was already thinking about DayZ while creeping around the forest. In fact, I was listening to Sacriel livestream on the other monitor, and every time he'd fire his gun, I was jumping out of my skin. Had to turn him off while wandering around in The Hunter.

I'd be up for joining a virtual hunting group. I'll bring the 24 pack and stereo.

I'd totally be up for multiplayer as well. I bought the permanent Warden subscription way back in the day so I assume I should be able to host.

Finally some Multiplayer! I haven't played it in a while but I have kept my subscription up to date cause it's so cheap.

Well, the announcement to multi has me interested again.

From what I'm seeing, I think it's unlikely.
The warden status only ever gave you access//licenses for new weapons/animals for the first month they were in the game, and it wasn't a permanent status either. Back when we all signed up for it, the page did note that the warden perks only applied while you remained a warden, meaning you would stop getting the free month for new weapons and animals if you didn't keep your subscription active. I had bought a 3-month warden subscription way back when, but I'm not seeing anything on the new profile page or account history about being a warden (it does say I still have all the equipment that came with the subscription).
All that's beside the point though, as The Hunter was bought by a different company, and they've said they're not going to continue the warden perks even if you have kept your membership active the whole time.

Yeah the warden status thing is done, but anything you had access to as a warden you kept.

So Xek and I played some multiplayer last night. It's pretty cool. I mean the game experience is still the same, which is great. But having someone else there helping setup shots or spot your target, is fun. It's also pretty cool when you split up and then hear a gunshot go off in the distance.

I was thinking it might be fun to run like a one session tournament, just for bragging rights, to see who comes back with the biggest kill. The multiplayer maxes out at 8 players, and I think that may be too many for some of the areas especially the areas where guests could hunt but 5 or 6 might be cool.

I would totally be down for multiplayer at some point. I might even be willing to throw in a few bucks if I needed to. I took a really long break from playing this game, so I'm excited to have another go at it.

Reinstalling now!
