Steam Summer Sale 2013 - It's never really over

Still have 4-5 games from last year's sale. And instead of playing them I'm playing DOTA 2. Odds are good this year my wallet will love me more.

Just 4 or 5? Slacker.

This.

If the sale does start this Thursday, it means I will be spending the majority of the sale in FL helping my mother-in-law paint her house. I'll be sure to sneak away around 1 EDT everyday, though.

Flash sales. You'll have to check in every 8 hours or so.

Thanks DocAwk for the sale warmerupper.

Now to continue by passing on some steamy goodness.

They stagger the flash sale slots, so you'll be checking every 4 hours.

But they overlap, so you can go more than 4 hours between check-ins if you need to.

Assuming they don't run out of keys.

Or there's a pricing error at 75% off that gets corrected to 50% off and you miss it.

Or... someone gifts you a game before you can buy it yourself.

Ok Joe Danger rules Played some of the first, now gonna try the 2nd to see if there are differences/improvements. The game gets hard pretty quick but I can't help but laugh at some of my mishaps

Is there any way to search for a specific game that might be shared across multiple Friends' Wish Lists? (i.e. without clicking each person's profile individually?)

On the game store page it should say "friends who own" and "friends who want". And clicking on that will expand the list further.

I've sent some invites out. If anyone is looking to expand feel free to send one, see linky sig.

If you go to the game's page on steam there's a community section in the right column (if you're logged in) that shows how many people wish for the game and how many people have the game. Then when you gift the game using your friends list, it shows a note next to the person if they have or are wishing for the game.

I really hope the sale isn't this weekend. I'm going to be at a wedding in the woods in the rockies all weekend. Probably quite drunk.

Just tried it out. That's pretty awesome.

Now I can't pass out trucker hats all around, but I'll do my best.

Thanks for the help, guys.

Best time for a steam sale.

I just checked this thread last night and you people already have 125 posts... you monsters. The sale hasn't even started yet.

I always end up with a ton of extra stuff too if anyone wants to friend me.

OMG when iz sales I want my gamez!

I just hope the sale isn't while I'm out camping the 2nd week of July.

eeesh this is going to kill my productivity at work...

0mnom, make a few more posts until you're no longer a "Coffee Grinder", ask for an invite to the GWJ Steam Group, and make some friends. Then it'll all work out from there.

BTW - just added a bunch of you wonderful threadizens to my Steam list. And updated my Wishlist...

I'm hoping for some Skyrim DLC, Dishonored, and Civ V, in addition to a few others that have been mentioned up-thread.

Haha, Cheers for that. I was wondering why the last guy called me a coffee grinder... and then I realised that it was under my profile name!

Anyways this year I hope to score a nice bargain on the entire Skyrim Collection, that would be just awesome!

Being a grinder is annoying... you can't quote people properly, you can't get free games ;P... But keep posting and you'll most likely find some awesome people here. I am relatively new myself, but this is the best community of gamers on the internet.

I added a bunch of you asking for friends. Feel free to add me as well, I'm quiet buy my mom says I'm cool.
This sale I'm going to load money into my steam wallet so I can manage my enthusiasm. If I modify the local Lottery's guideline on problem gambling I think I need help.

How to Steam Sale Responsibly:

Use the Steam sale only for fun.
Think of the money you spend as the cost of your entertainment.
Set a dollar limit and stick to it.
Set a time limit and stick to it.
Accept adding to the pile as part of the game.
Don't borrow money to add to the pile.
Don't let the Steam Sale interfere with family, friends or work.
Don't use the Steam sale as a way to cope with emotional or physical pain.
Know the warning signs of a pile problem.

Don't forget to wait for those deep discounts to make that dollar limit last.

I've also thrown out a few more friend invites, feel free to add me if your list is lacking. The gift-wallet is being loaded!

Haha, I'm sorry bout that. I really do want to be a part of this community. However in order to do so requires posts, and I do not want to spam pointless posts to do so.
But how does one aquire free games?!?!?!?

Cheers

Think less about them being free, and more generosity from fellow members of the best gaming community around. It is not to be expected to receive gifts.

It's not spamming pointless posts if you're joining in a discussion in any one of the numerous threads that are very active. Join a few threads about games/genre's that interest you.. you know, be _part_ of the community, don't just join it. It doesn't even matter if nobody reads your posts, I'm sure most of mine go by the way-side!

Maybe joining in a week(?) before the SSS is a bit soon, but you never know what people may offer, and if you stick around and remain active, by the time the Winter sale arrives (yes, I mentioned it, already) then I'm sure you'll be in the mix. Many people try to give more than they receive, although sometimes it's hard to keep up!

Lies. You know perfectly well what people will offer, and it'll need mucking out.
