NFL 2013: Week 3

I assumed it was early season rust?

Wasn't there some limit on summer workouts or pre-season practice time or something this year? I thought that was part of the new bargaining, some reduced time in the summer?

The Giants... oh my goodness. The need to change their name to Midgets. Not only to lose to a very below average Carolina team, but to get SHUT OUT! 38-0!!!

That is gonna be one long plane ride home. I cannot imagine what the owner is thinking after a performance like that. They played like they literally didn't care. Shameful.

Andrew Luck just faked out the whole 49ers defense.

Regardless how it happened AFC pegged the NFC back today with Indy and Cincy winning.

edit: and Miami.

So, what's up with kaepernick?

Michael Crabtree and Mario Manningham are still out and haven't played yet this season. Vernon Davis was out today after that late hamstring pull last week.

So take away the team's top 3 receiving options from last year, and only add in Boldin, and there you go...

When those guys get back healthy (week 8 maybe?) things will pick up a lot.

But but I heard they have like...the greatest coach EVAR.

I don't think their problem is coaching. Just like it wasn't the last place he worked.

Sums it all up there, Pred. I've started wearing a paper bag over my head.

That Giants game made me go from hope-anger-disgust-laughter. By the end of the game I just laughed. It's going to be a very long season if the offensive line can't get their act together. I really believe Wilson is a fantastic RB. He just has no holes to run through. Eli always has to throw so fast that he risks getting INT's all the time. The pocket collapses so fast it's ridiculous.

I was very thankful for Mariano Rivera day. After the ceremony and whatnot I turned to the Giants game and saw Eli had 18 yards through the first half and then abruptly turned back to the Yankee game. In true Sandman fashion he saved me from having to witness that Giants game.

As a fan of a team that has seen 1-15 and 2-14 seasons, my sincere condolences to the Giants fans out there. It's not a whole lot of fun.

Well at least Chicago won last night, so we only have 2 people going 0-5 in pick'em this week.

Did I pick 5 tough games or what?

If I pull this crap again tomorrow you guys will be clamoring to get *Legion* back in charge for next week's picks. Whew.

I wouldn't go so far as to call Carolina "very below average." "Below average" would have sufficed.

Carolina' strength (D-line and LBs) went head-to-head against the Giants' weak spot (O-line) and, well, 38-0.

It also took three weeks for the Panthers to find a third pass-catching option (LaFell and Ginn showed up today), and their patchwork line is starting to come together.

Edited because I can't read the schedule and because Rivera is, according to the Charlotte O, safe through the end of the season.

Holy sh*t.

Cardinals Safety Rashad Johnson lost part of his finger during the game yesterday.

He was unsure when it happened. Wow.

"Hey, the mascot has a cleft chin."

"That's not his chin."

I hadn't seen this before. An inspiring Greatest Runs by NFL Linemen.

I was at the Bears v Jags game where Keith Traylor had that awesome interception return. So much fun!

Should have let Janikowski go for the record. Instead a sack and potential injury. Plus, we would have been amused.

Yeah I was very disappointed in that call. If you're not going to try in Denver, it will never happen.

DLHQ taught me a terrifying lesson today.

Since Rex Ryan took over the Jets, he and Tom Coughlin have the exact same record.

OWINGS MILLS, Md. -- Baltimore Ravens coach John Harbaugh confirmed a TMZ report that wide receiver Jacoby Jones, who is rehabbing from a knee injury, was involved in a brawl on a party bus early Monday morning and was hurt when he was hit over the head by a stripper wielding a champagne bottle.

Kinda how I feel about my picks the first three week.... and on to the byes we go.

Looks like Matt Flynn will be able to start in the NFL after all.

Pryor is concussed.

Peyton Manning leads the league in both completion percentage and percentage of his passes dropped by wide outs.

Wow. That is a damn impressive combination of stats.

Manning is in for a record smashing year. The worst thing the Pats could have done for the AFC was give Manning the Welker security blanket in addition to what he already had.
