Yet another headphone thread

Honestly, you could do worse than the new Apple EarPods. They're what you're looking for in terms of fit, and sound quite good for $20.

He is looking for wireless.

@Leaping

Scroll down the bottom to their "unsealed pick". I don't like the unsealed ones so I can't vouch for them but the review seems favorable.

Oops.

Thanks for the link, I hadn't heard of those or considered Plantronics outside of the typical office-desk-phone setting.

No problem, I had stubled across it a couple weeks ago while researching for a friend who can't use the sealed ones because of ear hearing implants. On the amazon reviews it looks like some people are using silicone covers to get a more snug fit.

Here are a couple cheap deals to try out a pair of the wireless off-brands. $10 w/ free shipping on Amazon Prime.

I'd probably bite on the Aukey's if I knew they had a crescent in-ear hook and not just the one style shown. The Mpow's I bought have both, and the crescent really locks it in when I run. Cheap BT headphones mean not worrying when you sweat through them.

Edit - WTH, I bought the Auykey's. If I don't like them, I'll give them to my wife. Her Beats just broke while on vacation.

The ones I bought came with crescent hooks.

I just got those because my current pair are literally being held together by duct tape. I haven't been able to try them out yet.

I don't know why more companies don't copy Sennheiser's "Velvet" ear pads. So comfortable and cool for extended listening or play sessions. They also don't eventually peel and stick to your ears like pleather does when it gets old.

Yeah, my HD 558's are very comfortable.

Been using this for a bit. First problem was reading the instructions. The print was to small and they didn't have a digital copy to download. Old man problems. I downloaded a magnifying glass app for my phone so I could read the instructions.

Pairing was straight forward. I have it paired with my phone and a bluetooth transmitter. The phone sounds great. The transmitter has background noise in it and audio is delayed a bit making it not so good to use for video. This is probably the transmitter fault because the phone has no delay.

My first attempt to wear them hurt my ears. My second attempt was ok. Might be obvious but don't press to hard into your ear. I haven't worn them for a few hours and it is still a little sore in my right ear. I might see if I can remove the foam tips from a different set of buds and use them on this.

I found it hard to press the buttons on the buds. I had to remove them from my ears to hit the buttons. Also removing the plate fore the mini usb port was hard.

The sound was great. Played some firefly soundtrack and some hip hop and it was really nice. Also the range was pretty good. I could walk into the next room without it dropping. In fact the signal never dropped

All in all a good buy unless it turns out I ruin my eardrum. Probably be the last time I buy buds that don't have foam tips.

So my brainwavz earbuds gave out in the right one. Lost bass response, think a part of the driver is floating free in there now.
The weird part was the return process (2 year manufacturer warranty) where they asked me to cut the headphones into AT LEAST 4 pieces and take a picture.

Saves on return shipping and there's no way you could fake it.

Follow up. You can press the buttons by pinching them between your thumb and forefinger. So you don't have to press it against your ear.

Was about to register the headphones but then came across something odd. In order to register I have to like them on facebook. This sounds illegal or at least very shady.

Yeah, skip that. If they stop working just give a bad Amazon review.

Aukey seems to support things very well from what I've seen on various products.

Need a headset with mic for PS4 /Xbox One. I was using a cheapy Plantronics, but it seems that the micrphone has stopped working.

Wired or wireless; I'm on a new model Xbox ONe controoler, so it has a 3.5mm jack. I'd spend up to £30 / $50.

When my Astro headset gave out I replaced them with a pair of the Plantronics RIG. They work pretty well and are in your price range. I like that they are open cans, not sweaty, very light weight, and the material used on the pads is a fabric not pleather. For some reason they don't work well with my Android Phone. I think it may be an issue with the phone, though. They work fine with my wife's IPhone and my Android Tablet.

Thanks for the recommendation. I'll look into them.

I think it was a third party 3.5mm connector that broke, rather than the Plantronics.

Saying that, waht do people here think of the Sennheiser 350d SE and the Game Zone headsets? I might treat myself to one if I hit a yet-to-be-determined milestone in stream views or subscribers.

They appear to be virtually the same headset, but the Game Zone has an impedance of 150 instead of 50 for the 350. Not sure what that means in console terms.

I'm looking for a headset with a good microphone; my voice is probably the best thing about my stream. (Not necessarily what I say.)

Anyone have experience with the Astro A50 stand or the Turtle Beach headphone stand? I decided to get some Game Zero headphones from Sennheiser's outlet shop - breaking my budget considerably - and want a decent stand for them. I like the apparent width of the Turtle Beach's base, but it looks like the prongs might deform the band on the headphones over time.

Here's the turtle beach one

And the Astro one

If you want to hang headphones under a desk, The Anchor is perfect and cheap.

Doesn't look like it's on Amazon UK. There is this one which is similar although a little more complicated than it needs to be.

Thanks Roughneck.

Tuff,

I had considered an under-desk hook, don't have the space. Thanks for finding the link for me, though.

I bought this from Ebay for $6. It's looks nice, cheap and actually keeps my big AKG K7xx off the desk.

Just bought this a couple of weeks back. I really like it.

Also before this I was using 3M hooks for headphones. I had one stuck to the side of my old desk. You can also stick one on a nearby wall.

Thanks Balthezor. I had considered one of thoughs, but because this is most I've spent on a headset, I wanted something that had wider support for the headband. Though my headphones are cheaper than yours. (!)

EDIT

Actually, some variation on the hook could work. I don't use the TV without wearing the headphones, so I'll probably never be in a position to knock them off the thing.
