Slightly off topic ...
Do you any of you old farts remember Alcoa's Fantastic Finishes? I sure do.
Joe Posnanski blogs about how the series came about.
And there's this compilation video, too: I'm linking because I'm suddenly too dumb to embed.
Btw, we also have a new confused Jaguar fan GIF.

Thanks for that. I certainly remember Fantastic Finishes, and that was a very interesting read.
Since I'm stuck in a conference today, I actually got to read Peter King's MMQB. Outside of him saying lots of stupid things this jumped out at me:
j. The Panthers sure didn’t look explosive on offense against Seattle. They looked cautious.
I felt the Panthers played well, great on defense and while the offense struggled, they took whatever Seattle would give them. It was a slug it out game and Seattle has built themselves to be able to win those. It's the track meets that Seattle has trouble with.
Other thoughts:
Damnit Browns I thought you might be decent this year.
Given the Dolphins look like a decent team, I'm thinking 8-8 this year.
Watch as the Giants beat the Broncos next week just to be confusing dicks.
Ticked that I'll be missing at least the first 3 quarters of PHI-WAS as it's the game I was looking forward to the most this week.
Teams that f'ed me this week in my full pick em.
Panthers, Giants, Bengals, Browns.
Teams that squirmed close wins in close games for me.
Saints, Rams.
Not a good start getting 2 right and 4 wrong in 'close' games.
I took the Packers because I have to irrationally take the Packers and would do it again.
I went with the Panthers as one of the longer shot picks and its more painful that they almost pulled it out.
Call me crazy but I just don't rate Russel just yet or the Seahawks. At home with that field advantage. yes! Otherwise I want more proof. Maybe I'm just jaded from a certain game last year ;P
As for Browns Miami f*ck if I knew. Browns might be that team this year where I never figure out if they are half capable and I end up picking the majority of their games wrong. (double checks their schedule). Yea better just pencil them in for 8 straight losses coming up.
Pretty disappointed in the Bengals as I really just want Chicago to be bad

That game wasn't nearly as close as the 12-7 score. If we're going to say that the Panthers almost pulled it out but blew it with the fumble at the end, we should probably also acknowledge the Seahawks fumble inside the red zone at the end of the first half as well as the fact that Seattle drove 70 yards in a few minutes before ending the game by kneeling 3 straight times on the Panthers' 22.

That same home crowd existed from 2008-2011 when they went 15-17 at home.
In general, though, I kinda agree. I think Wilson is a good player, but he's going to get injured if he takes a bunch more hits like he took against Carolina. And if he gets injured, they're going 5-11 or something nearly as awful.
That game wasn't nearly as close as the 12-7 score. ...
You're right. Seattle probably should have scored 30+ points, based on Wilson's throwing numbers (320 yards, 75 percent completion). The fact that Carolina could have won it until DeAngelo fumbled with 5 mins left is stunning.
The only moral victory for Carolina is that the front seven held up pretty well. They kept Lynch in check and they didn't give up a ton of yards (until the fourth, anyway).
The takeaway for Seattle is that playoff teams win these kind of tough games.
@jowner: Take another look at Wilson's TD pass. That's probably one of the five best throws of the weekend.
I actually thought Wilson might be one of the QBs to regress. Man, was I wrong, at least this week.
Interesting to see the Raiders hang in there. Don't think they're going to be any good, but Pryor gives them some dynamism we all seemed to overlook.
Weeeeee. I'm at the Redskins game. Live Football!!!
Wow! If it stands, of course.
Hahahahaha.
Well this looks to be an exciting game. I also predict many cramps.
So up tempo the game is already over!
Laaaaaaaame fumble.
That last pass notwithstanding, I'd love to see this offense with a more accurate QB.
Another safety!
Damn Skins D is getting schooled with some college offense.
Damn Skins D is getting schooled by the future of the NFL.
FTFY. I don't see why other teams can't do this. (OK, there are a lot of reasons why not, but if it's working, other folks will try it. See "option, read" from last year.)
I think Chip Kelly has finally turned Michael Vick into a pocket passer. He looks pretty comfortable back there. (As I'm typing that he scores on an option. Go figure.)
OK, Legion, how do you counter this?

You wait for Vick to get hurt in a couple weeks, and you realize the threat of the read option isn't quite the same with Nick Foles under center.
Or you wait until later un the season when everyone is tired and injured and third stringers are starting.
Ready for this Texans game!
Oh joy. Chris Berman.
Martin! What kind of asshole bobbles the kickoff in the end zone and still runs it out?
Holy sh*t, INT on the first play. Matt Shaub, ladies and gentlemen. Freak play, but still.
Ball hit pylon before leg hit ground. Touchdown.
Man, I really want to watch this game but I don't know if I can handle Trent Dilfer...god it's awful.
What? I could use an explanation on that one.
