Video Game Deals Catch-All

Amazon is offering a $20 bonus credit when trading in games or accessories worth $20 or more. This means, for example, if you want to trade in Bioshock Infinite for $36, you'll get $56 in credit, which makes ownership of this game a bit more than an expensive rental. Free shipping, of course. I'm going to replay Bioshock Infinite at some point, but I may just trade it in now, get a few other things I want (hello, X-Com, DXHR, and/or Kingdoms of Amalamadingdong: Reckoning), and just re-buy it later.

I saw Gears of War: Judgement (which just came out!) has a trade-in value of UP TO $.25. Jeez, I didn't think it was THAT bad!

Euro Truck Simulator 2 is $15 on GamersGate.

If you're curious about that darn Truck Simulator? thread that keeps popping up on the front page, you can download the lengthly, full-featured Steam demo and see for yourself...before heading over to GamersGate to buy the full copy.

I was laughing about it just like everyone else. Then I played the demo. Then I bought it. I really cannot say what exactly is so attractive about it, but just driving around through places I know on a huge truck is just so soothing, relaxing and... fun (yes, I went there).

Yeah, ETS2 is surprisingly fun and awesome. Who'dathunk?

I think I'd enjoy it more if Criterion had made it.

Sadly they're no longer making racing games, so they can go f*ck themselves.

Yeah, I saw that too as I was considering trading my copy in since the player base is so small. I wonder if they purposefully did that as it's currently worth $20 at Best Buy trade in.

It's more about the damage modeling than the racing.

Oh yeah, this is fair.

Amazon doing video game gold box again. God Of War Ascension is the DotD for $40. Current lightning deal is Dead Space 3 for $40. Highlights for later:

Vita - Zero Escape: Virtue's Last Reward $29.99 (3 to 5pm)
360 - Forza Horizon $19.99 (5 to 7pm)
360 - Kinect Sports Ultimate Collection $14.99 (7 to 9pm)
All - Lego Lord of the Rings $19.99 (9 to 11pm)

That's a great price for Forza Horizon.

Fantastic title.

Wait, what?!? Need for Speed Most Wanted wasn't nearly as good as Burnout Paradise, but it still had a good feel to it - which I think is the most important part of a racing game. What happened, when did they say this?

I want to enable people on this one. It's the best adventure game I've played in a very long time.

Thanks for the link. Oddly, I feel better about the decision now. It's not some big boss far away telling them to do something else, they want to branch out. Maybe they will take over with music games and Harmonix will make a new Burnout game? As long as it is a "this is what we want to do" and not a "we can not go back to what we are proven good at", I'm happy.

Imagine if they work on a space game? With their mastery of physics models on the road, they could make an incredible space combat simulator.

Hmmmm. So the status of "Big Boss" is achievable in the gaming industry.....good......good..

I'll be in my bunk.

Tell me it's substantially better than 999. Tell me there isn't an unskippable dialogue segment where the characters are trapped in an industrial-grade walk-in freezer and, instead of trying to escape, decide to argue about carbon dioxide and ruminate on the chemical origins of Ice-9.

Today's deal for Dragon Age: Origin is unfairly tempting

It's substantially better than 999 in every way. It feels like a game where they listened to every player complaint about its predecessor and took serious steps to rectify their mistakes.

They actually poke fun at that Ice-9 freezer scene a bit. During a room escape, you find a book about Schrodinger's cat, and when one of the characters starts to explain it someone else cuts her off and asks if it can wait at least until they've finished that escape.

Good game! Hours of RPG goodness.

Also, Euro Truck Sim 2 is 50% off. I'm seeing surprisingly good discussions on it. Maybe it's time to break out my Driving Force GT and imagine it's 3x the size to fit in with a big rig.

At least I could play it in front of the 11 month old and not feel like a horrible parent

I got the new Star Trek game from GreenManGaming for 37.50 using code GMG25-RFCBT-QPRTW. Code works on many other games as well.

FYI Star Trek was a steam code and came with the preorder bonus

Free stuff at newegg, after rebates.

Game highlights: The Witcher, and X3:TC (which registers on Steam)

I just snagged The Witcher-- It looks like a DVD box copy. I only want the soundtrack-- not even going to worry about installing. So, if you're interested and missed the newegg promo in me passing it along sans music discs, hit me up with a PM and we'll make arrangements for shipping it to you. (I might even be able to cover the shipping cost if it's low enough).

This game is actually quite good. I just can't figure out how to get back on the road if I accidently crash and get stuck somewhere.

You have to call for emergency services, and for a fee, they tow you to the nearest town. The call button is on one of the panels of the satnav thingy.

I am so obsessed with Euro Truck Simulator 2 it's silly. I freaking LOVE it. So glad I purchased the full version. It's surprisingly compelling. I wanna go home and play it right now.

You guys are crazy......

.....is it still on sale?

Yes...yes it is...
