Video Game Deals Catch-All

Fortunately it's the correct price - $30 - on the website.

So it's payday tomorrow and I'm debating whether I save some dough and buy Dishonored, or buy Bioshock Infinite. Any thoughts?

Dishonored if you like games, Infinite if you like story but don't mind a lot of flaws and fair enough gameplay. The downside to Dishonored is that you'll never look at player locomotion in a 3D 1st person game the same way. It does it so incredibly well.

Buy both #yolo #swag #imgoingtogowalkintotheseanow

I haven't played Bioshock Infinite yet (next weekend) but I thought Dishonored was worth $60. I paid $25.

If the extra $30 isn't too large of a concern, I would want to get through Bioshock before spoiler talk becomes unavoidable. There's a ton of chatter behind it, and it's not too late to be a part of it. You won't be missing out on anything if you wait on Dishonored a bit longer.

I'm a huge fan of the first BioShock, but I'm on currently my third playthrough of Dishonored with no desire to try Infinite. Dishonored's breadth of agency, depth of the world, and respect for the player has spoiled me. Apparently Infinite has a good story, but if the thing I do for 20 hours is "decapitate hundreds of dudes"... I'll stick to Dishonored.

Bioshock Infinite is very good, and has been getting beat up for some reason I can't fathom. It's gorgeous, the gameplay is tight and fun, and the story is amazing.

Dishonored is better, though.

Yup. Dishonored is fantastic, and for me, stole most of Infinite's thunder.

Infinite is going to be my next purchase. Unfortunately with 2 vacations planned (one of which starts today. Headed down to NYC and staying in Times Square for a couple nights to catch Phantom of the Opera) and Disney in October, home improvements which are never-ending, and the release of Neverwinter on 4/30 which was announced recently, not sure how soon I'm going to be able to pay for/play another game. Oh, and let's not forget the fact that I'm LOVING Far Cry 3 and can't get enough of that

A ton of Interplay games on sale this weekend on GoG: Fallouts 1&2, Freespace 1&2, all the Descents, more than I care to list (because lazy). Lot of great games on the list.

We're done here.

I enjoyed Far Cry 3's FPS much more than Infinite's - not nearly as much freedom in the latter, comparatively. I'd tell you to enjoy your current situation

LOL I had to google yolo swag to figure out what the hell you guys were talking about. I'm getting so old. Is this some Internet meme or something that some Disney celebrity turned porn star came up with?

At any rate, think I'm going to pull the trigger on Dishonored. Thanks for the advice!

Never doubt it.

GMG have another 20% off code: GMG20-GGN5D-FC3NA

No indication of what games it does or does not work with.

Doesn't work on Dishonored (stays at $32.99), does work on Natural Selection II (from $12.49 down to $10 flat).

It works on their current racing sale items. I picked up F1 2012 for $10.

Think I'm gonna pick up dishonored, opinions on the Dunwall City Trials dlc? My reading of the steam description has it coming across more like a high score test zone thing than a standard content or story extension.

That's all it is. There's no story with it.

And the first of two story expansions (The Knife of Dunwall) comes out on Tuesday.

O players of Dishonored, I need some enabling or disabling.

I like the idea of stealth games in theory, but in practice, don't have the patience for them. Playing a thief/assassin in Skyrim was a lot of fun, but I have yet to find a game with more detailed stealth that I enjoyed.

In particular, DX:HR is the game I've played that Dishonored is most often compared to, and while crawling through ducts had its moments, large parts of that game's mechanics - especially the stealth - never clicked for me.

So just go chaotic and forget the stealth...

I think that's a side to stealthy games that often gets overlooked. Rather than badly done stealth games where you instant fail or essentially get overwhelmed, or games with instantly aware enemies who always attack anything, stealth allows you to set up combat on your terms and set up fighting with weapons other than the usual guns or blade. Dishonored is a game you should experiment with.

Also, Farming Simulator 2013, 50% off!!

Yup, it's going for $13.99 on Steam.

So it's a bit of a shot in the dark, but can anyone enable me on this one? I fell down the rabbit hole with Euro Truck Simulator 2 a month or so back and am considering taking the next step in Bizarro Eastern European Mundane Daily Life Activity Simulators (tm.).

Haha!

Aww, what the hell. $14 is peanuts to satisfy my curiosity on this one.
