Has he said there's one coming?

Deadlight was ok, but I wouldn't pay more than that price. It did a lot of neat things, but it didn't do them very well.

This basically translates to "the achievements weren't very good".

I actually grabbed deadlight off steam for 3 bucks, but as I'm waiting for my replacement video card to show up, I'm itching to give it a go.

Actually they were pretty easy and I got them all in about 4 hours:)

Mainly it was that the game was very pretty and stylized, but the controls and checkpoints were pretty wonky.

Dammit, Sally, should I buy it or not?

Gamefly has some nice bundles:

Bioshock 1 and Bioshock 2: $3.99 (GFWL)

Spec Ops The Line, and The Darkness II: $3.99 (Steamworks)

Borderlands 2 and XCOM Enemy Unknown: $31.99 (Steamworks)

In each deal, you get both games for that price.

Use code GFDAPR20 (for U.S.) and GFDAPR20UK (for UK) to get these prices.

Well then, looks like I'll be buying this a second time! Any reason I can get to keep supporting Dean Dodrill.

Yup, and with that I realize I missed out on buying the Darksiders bundle. Anyone got a spare Darksiders II key? I already have all the rest.

Darksiders bundle still looks to be active, at least for Gamefly UK - Sadly, I've already bought it to gift Spec Ops, however... check your PM

Are you confusing Darkness 2 with Darksiders 2?

That was it exactly. I redeemed the key without realizing it as well. Still, it's a pretty great game, I rented it on Xbox a while back, but didn't have a chance to finish. Now I do

Ahh, apologies

Feel a fool.

For the next 3 months, you can get Sniper: Ghost Warrior 1 for basically a buck via Alienware Arena. Not considered a great game but for a buck, why not?

For a buck, why not. On Steam, even better.

I've done too many -- join our service and get "x-game" for a dollar -- and then never log into their service again (*cough* U-play *cough*), so at least Sniper will just sit in my Steam List until I'm bored enough to see how mediocre it really is.

I wonder if the caliber of game Alienware is using for promotion here is any kind of commentary on the Arena service. Just something I wonder when I see promotions that use B-list games-- is that the best deal they could manage?

Not a complaint, just a musing-- or amusing.

Gamefly still has the bundles talked about up thread (Darkness 2+Spec Ops, Bioshock 1+2), but they added Xcom+Borderlands 2 for $32 w/coupon GFDAPR20. Bundles page.

So today's Steam Daily deal is all the Prince of Persia games. Can someone remind me which ones are worth getting?

Sands of Time. Period.

As much as some complain about the 2008 reboot, I still enjoyed it. I think it was even mentioned on the CC this week.

Forgotten sands was also really good.

I haven't played that one. I think I even picked it up for $10 on Xbox at a BB clearance sale, but haven't opened the plastic.

Having never played any other PoP game, I played the 2008 version in 2011 and loved it. AusTbird played through at about the same time and IIRC had about the same opinion of the game.

That was easy to find:

AUs_TBirD[/url]]Prince of Persia (2008) (PC) - One of the two best games I've played this year along with Metro 2033. I wasn't exactly keen on Prince of Persia: Sands of Time and skipped the next two in the trilogy. The 2008 reboot totally flips my opinion by providing a completely different experience. In this version, the importance of combat is minimized, the platforming is fluid, fun, and, most importantly, does not punish the player incessantly for experimenting. Excellent dialog, wonderful artwork and music, and a few in-jokes (such as the donkey's name) really endeared me to it.
I ran into the 999 light seed bug just like MrTomaytoHead, but found a savegame online, so not even that was a (big) issue. A brilliant game!

Man, to me Prince of Persia (2008) is a game that implicitly punishes the player incessantly for experimenting. It's basically the COD formula applied to platforming. You go down this extremely linear path where it specifically tells you exactly what move you have to make in order to succeed, over and over again, until you reach the next combat sequence, which also forces you to perform them in one specific way. It's basically a non-stop series of quick-time events just disguised a little better. I got bored to death with it after about 4 hours because of this.

For Orcs Must Die, what's the deal with the franchise? The demo seemed sort of fun? Should I pick up 1 + DLC, 2+ DLC, or just 2, or what do people recommend?

Didn't Shawn drop like 100+ hours into OMD? I think the shocking truth was revealed during a podcast some time back.

I haven't played 2 yet, it's on my pile of shame but the 1st game is amazing, a must-buy. It was nice to have the DLC and it posed some unique challenges but it wasn't essential. A couple of the DLC stages felt like they might have been cut from the core game because they didn't play well (too easy or too confusing).

Pretty sure that was Sean. I think it was mentioned in the Gaming Confessions discussion.

It's my favorite of the PoP series. Not a ton of combat, the art style is delicious, and I *loved* Elika.

OMD and OMD 2 are both fantastic. I say buy all of it if the price is right.
