I hate that they're presenting that as an actual controlled experiment.

You don't figure that maybe they're having a sale and presenting it in a whimsical way? If Valve did the exact same thing on Steam, people would chuckle, then buy games. *shrug*

Eh, I like GOG just as much as Steam. I think they know what they're doing.

Regardless, I was just talking about it from a scientific point of view. The next sale won't have that manipulation and won't see the same results. Bad experiment.

Unless they already ran that experiment without telling anyone as the control...

A controlled experiment can only happen if two identical groups exist except for the variable in question. To do that, they'd have to do A/B testing where some customers got lower prices and some didn't. It has nothing to do with telling people, although in the case where they told and also did the different groups at the same time, it would still be a controlled experiment, but it wouldn't be very easy to apply those findings to a case where they didn't tell people.

Doing one thing one week and another another week introduces all kinds of issues with time series analysis. If it's the best you can do, do it, but it's not a controlled experiment.

That being said, it's a decently funny way to have a sale even if it does further confuse people on what legitimate science is.

Y'know, I rushed to the Best Buy website to check this out and got to the second page of games before I realized I can't play PS2 or PSP games on my PS3 or PS Vita.

Then I thought about backwards compatibility for the new generation and frowned.

PCSX2 is a great option for PS2. With a PS3 controller, you'll never know it was on a PC (unless you count the amazingly good graphics). We still have our PS2 hooked up, but I very much prefer having them on the PC.

Use it and like it. Just played DDR on it but have now moved on to Stepmania.

Lord knows I've always expected legitimate science to be done by online digital video game vendors.

Best Buy is advertising Bulletstorm for $2. It's preowned, and probably depends on in-store availability.

Still, if you haven't played Bulletstorm, get off your lazy butt and find a copy!

I'm not sure if it got posted, but the Deal of the Week on the 3DS eShop is bit.trip Saga for $9.99. Good through Friday.

3DS XL at Newegg for $169.99. Might be a better deal that the recent Best Buy one if Newegg doesn't charge you taxes. Promo codes, but they are generic. Possible you have to be signed up for their newsletter to use them, but you should be already after all the deals for years. :p

Played it on the PC and loved it. $2 is an instant double-dip for me.

I've been on the fence, but hearing its a pretty tight shooter and only $2 got me to pull the trigger. Looks like I've got a detour to make on the way home.

For those who don't have it yet (and that was me), Infinity Blade is free on the App Store until February 21nd.
(wow, can't believe no one posted this before I did)

I didn't realize they do a Deal of the Week. That's great.

Today is another all video games lightning deal day on Amazon. Not seeing a whole lot interesting, but it looks like Hitman Absolution is coming up in a few hours. I'll wait and see what the price is. Also Dead Space 3 is the deal of the day for $40.

They do and then they don't. Thankfully, they've at least announced their weekly deals through March 21st. If you want to add them to your calendars, they are:

  • Feb. 14th - bit.trip Saga, $9.99
  • Feb. 21st - Crashmo, $5.99
  • Feb. 28th - Fractured Soul, $7.99
  • Mar. 7th - Sakura Samurai, $4.99
  • Mar. 14th - Ketzal's Corridors, $4.99
  • Mar. 21st - Mutant Mudds, $5.99

I hope they do another round of deals for March 28th onward.

Oh yeah I heard about that. Will be picking up Crashmo.

FTFY. It's a really good game.

Had to cancel because they sold the last in-store copy after my order had gone through but before they pulled it from the shelf. Closest stores that still had a copy were over an hour away, so I'd wind up spending more in time and gas than I paid for the game.

30% off all Ubisoft Wii U games on the eShop.

ZombiU – $59.99 to $41.99

Assassin’s Creed III – $59.99 to $41.99

Just Dance 4 – $49.99 to $34.99

Rabbids Land – $49.99 to $34.99

Your Shape: Fitness Evolved – $49.99 to $34.99

ESPN Sports Connection – $49.99 to $34.99

I has a sad. None available for shipping, the closest BB to me is a good half hour drive away... and none of the titles seem to be available there anyway. Le sigh.

The first 30-60 minutes seems like a generic shooter, but don't be fooled.

I swung by Best Buy last night. There were some kids camping the console in the center of their pre-owned games section so I didn't look too closely. No signs or tags or anything advertising the sale. The only game I saw that interested me was a copy of Gods Eater Burst for the PSP, which really kind of surprised me. I know the game's easy to get but you don't expect to see something so obscure at a Best Buy. I already own two copies (long story) so I didn't bother asking any employees about the sale.

Would you pay $2 for Brink? No? How about $0?

Free Brink at Newegg.

...still no?

From my attempts to give away the Brink code I got from the Gamer's Gate bundle, I'd say even free is too high a price to pay for it.

Mail-in rebates are the devil's work!

I would have to pay tax in New Joisey.

Especially mail in rebates that only give you store credit, and not an actual check.

Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate.
Save $20 if you buy both versions which I am going to do so I can play it on the WiiU and the 3DS.

We had fun with it when it released for a few months on and off. But yeah, I'd imagine it's a ghost town at this point.

Yeah, that first 30 minutes is a slog. It's like a giant QTE tutorial. Thought I was recording an episode of Loading, Ready, Run's Unskippable with how much QTE there was.

Then you get the leash, and things get fun. I've spent more on iOS games that I've played less, so there's that, right?

Already got it during the Bethesda NYE sale on Gamersgate. Now I can't buy it for free. You guys don't know how hard we have it in this country.

Was trolling through my Amazon wish list, and noticed that both Dishonored and XCOM: Enemy Unknown have dropped in price to below $40 on consoles and shipping direct from Amazon.
