Video Game Deals Catch-All

Steam has Sine Mora for 66% off today. Quality shooter if you are interested and I am sure it carries over to Big Screen well based on the way it looks on my Vita.

Sine Mora - $3.39 (Org $9.99)

Agreed. They're apparently going to be changing some of the policies (e.g., 15 days for returns instead of 30), but they've been offering good deals. I really hope they've got someone smart who understands that they adapt and offer good prices or they die.

Article: Best Buy to combat 'showroooming' with year-round price-match policy

I generally don't follow this sort of thing, but it's worth noting that they'll now price-match most competing websites.

That's awesome to know! Best Buy is probably 10-15 minutes closer than Frys, that is, if BB has the item in question...

GOG are doing a pricing experiment which involves lowering prices.

My kind of experiment.

Games in the "experiment":

GoG wrote:

Prices changed from $5.99 to $3.99:
Alien Shooter, Celtic Kings, Commandos Ammo Pack, Constructor, Empire Earth, Knights and Merchants, Litil Divil, Lords of Magic, Lords of the Realm, Mobile Forces, Myst: Masterpiece Edition, Outcast, Personal Nightmare, Realms of Haunting, Rollercoaster Tycoon, Simon the Sorcerer, Waxworks.

Prices changed from $9.99 to $6.99:
Broken Sword 4: The Angel of Death, Ceville, Evil Genius, Haegemonia Gold Edition, King's Bounty, Moto Racer 3, Red Baron Pack, Shadowgrounds, Sherlock Holmes, The Incredible Machines, Warlords Battlecry 3

I initially wrote this off as putting all the less-than-awesome games in this, but I will admit, on further reflection, that is not strictly the case. There are some things on these lists that I haven't picked up due to price. Yes, $6 is not that much but a little more than I would care to pay for Roller Coaster Tycoon or $10 for Evil Genius. At these prices I may change my mind though.

I wonder how many of those games were only shifting when there was a sale on.

I've half a mind to break my "no more games for now" guideline and get Rollercoaster Tycoon. Man, but GOG makes it so easy to pull the trigger....

I hate that they're presenting that as an actual controlled experiment. Because all that does is potentially guilt you into wanting to buy one so that they continue with lower prices. Just lowering the prices and observing would be an actual experiment.

Wouldn't be the first time GOG has tried to manipulate its customers.

But at least this time they didn't pretend to go out of business.

Sigh. GOG.com is so awesome on it's own merits, they should just stick with that.

Maybe it's an experiment in potential guilt.

Experiment results: catholic and jewish gamers buy more games.

You don't figure that maybe they're having a sale and presenting it in a whimsical way? If Valve did the exact same thing on Steam, people would chuckle, then buy games. *shrug*

Eh, I like GOG just as much as Steam. I think they know what they're doing.

Regardless, I was just talking about it from a scientific point of view. The next sale won't have that manipulation and won't see the same results. Bad experiment.

For anyone who hasn't grabbed it previously, GMG have CiV - Gods & Kings for £4.99/75% off. There is also the 20% off voucher (GMG20-P4DLK-FKYRS) that brings it down to £4

Steam Linux sale is still live. If you have Ubuntu or some derivative installed, go go go!

Huh, apparently Best Buy is selling ALL their pre-owned PS2 and PSP games for just a dollar each?!?

Holy crap! Quick, what's the top 30 PSP games?!

Looks like they're already sold out of everything online.

I saw that a couple hours ago. It's in-store pickup only, and none of the stores near me had the games I wanted. If anyone can manage to pick me up a few of these, I'd be glad to Paypal the cost + shipping. I'd say a minimum of 3 games, otherwise not worth shipping.

Any Final Fantasy titles (incl. Crisis Core and Dissidia)
Parappa the Rapper
Monster Hunter (any)
Burnout Legends
Marvel Trading Card Game
Justice League Heroes
EchoChrome series
Loco Roco series
Patapon series

Yeah I noticed that it's local pickup only, so it's going to be pretty hit and miss

Then I thought about backwards compatibility for the new generation and frowned.

Dear Nintendo,

I love you.

Unless they already ran that experiment without telling anyone as the control...

No kidding.

I have a dream, and in that dream on the tenth anniversary of Club Nintendo they send everyone that was a platinum member all ten years a monstrous chimera console that plays every cart/disc that they've ever produced. Except whatever the Virtual Boy took.

PCSX2 is a great option for PS2. With a PS3 controller, you'll never know it was on a PC (unless you count the amazingly good graphics). We still have our PS2 hooked up, but I very much prefer having them on the PC.

Wow, I wish I had read the rest of the thread before taking the time to pick out a ton of games. NOT ONE of the 66 titles I was interested in were available.

Oh, well, not surprising, I guess. If it looks too good to be true...
