Mafia 2 is on sale on XBL for ten bucks. Enable/disable me? Opinions please?

If you're looking for strong characters, a compelling narrative, and well-handled combat/gunplay, I highly recommend it. The open-world aspect is the only thing really lacking, I think. Maybe give the demo a spin.

For ten bucks that's all the enabling I needed. Thanks!

The mission variety is nice too...

Y'know what? I'm gonna buy it too. I sold it after beating it right when it was released, but I could go for a digital copy I'll always own (hopefully).

I really, really enjoyed Mafia 2, despite the numerous flaws it has. I wanted to get into the DLC as well but I heard it was brutally hard and almost all timed missions which I hate. I should grab it on PC and give it a run again.

If I were the video-uploading type I could empirically prove that wrong. There are some really interesting, open combat situations you need to solve in Crysis 2. The first major fight with the aliens was an example. Do you enter stealth and take the high ground and pick them off? Take them head on? Do you maneuver your way to the turret? Do you stalk each one individually? Every ten minutes or so the game threw one of these situations at you. I feel like the idea that it's a narrow game is just a fabricated narrative. I think perhaps people should have played it on harder difficulties - it required exploration of your options. I only played it on super-soldier, but I would imagine with the suit powers and all it would be easy enough on normal to just plow through everything.

Anyway, I waited on Crysis 2, picked it up when it dropped to $20. I'd have happily paid $60 and Crysis 3 is a day one buy for me.

There's always the possibility that I didn't play the game "right"- that I didn't search opportunities to change tactics enough. I can tell you that I was desperate to find these scenario's though, bored as I was making my way through the game. I'm certainly not going to question your experience, but neither can I negate my own. It's one of those weird things about the human experience.

Happy to return the enabling!

As long as they keep releasing larger hard drives, I'll just keep all my games downloaded. I still have a copy of Ultimate MK 3 that they don't sell any more because I never delete any of my games

I'm taking nothing for granted regarding backwards compatibility for the next Xbox and Playstation. You'd think everything would be fine, but I thought that coming into the 360 and it wasn't so. And I do not plan on keeping my 360 much past the release of the next consoles.

That is so many fantastic hours of gaming, it's ridiculous. Too bad I own them all already.

Yeah, I'd get it, but the only game in there that I don't have is Space Marine.

Blind Evil - I'm only keeping my 360 until I'm tired of Dark Souls.

So, forever.

I actually still have my PS2 because my PS3 is a late model :\

As an addendum, looks like the $5 credit applies to this bundle as well.

That.. well, that's pretty off topic, but my two cents:

When I was between the ages of, say, 5 and 11, the only piece of gaming hardware I had was a Super Nintendo. I would get two games a year if I was lucky, one for my birthday and one for Christmas. I'd go to the game aisle in Toys'r'us and marvel that there were hundreds of games. Around four years into that stretch I grew restless, sick of playing Final Fantasy VI for the 11th time (seriously). I still remember feeling that frustration, so when I started making my own money by mowing lawns and later doing real work, I've never been able to play the same game over and over again. There's too much I'd be missing out on. I love Dark Souls too, I need to get around to the DLC. But yeah, FFVI is my favorite game ever, and I refuse to play it more than once every five years. I try to avoid it altogether.

I don't know that I've done any replaying of any single-player game in the last...15 years, until Saints Row 3 and Dark Souls.

You sir must be wearing a +1 suit of enabling... thanks for the tip.

I really enjoyed Mafia 2, I played through twice without removing the Disc from my 360. If you played and like the first on then it's a no brainer.

So I don't own Homefront, Red Faction: Guerrilla, or Warhammer Space Marine. With the $5 credit I assume it makes this a no brainer? Also, do you get keys for each game so I can give the rest away?

Yeah, I grabbed this one during the Christmas sale (it was actually even cheaper then) and you get individual keys for everything.

Speaking of which, I need to inventory my extra keys and find good homes for them.

I still had the credit, so I bought it. Only one I don't have is Homefront. Kamakazi, Space Marine is yours if you haven't gotten it from someone else already. The rest are free to anyone above Coffee Grinder.

If your Red Faction: Guerrilla needs a home, I'd be happy to give it one. My copy is tied to an Impulse account that I haven't been able to successfully log into since shortly after GameCrap bought them out. Never did get to finish it.

WizKid beat you to it by a few minutes, unfortunately.

Something fans of old school (really old school) RPG's like Bards Tale and Might and Magic might be interested in:

The creator of Swords and Sorcery : Underworld is selling the gold edition of the first game for $4.95 to help promote/support the sequel, until 27th January.

It's pretty fun, even though it doesn't pull many punches.

Agreed that Mafia 2 is very worth it. Good story, fun missions and some good gun play. Really good stuff that had me thinking about the story after finishing the game as I became attached to some of the characters.

You Don't Know Jack (activates on Steam) is $2.99 on Amazon this week.

Does this work with multiple players hot seat, or is it a single-player game?
