Video Game Deals Catch-All

Funny my wife and I just started LEGO Batman 2 this weekend, and I was thinking about turning the beta back on for Big Picture. But now it's here. Going to be fun tonight!

Having missed CS:GO during the Thanksgiving sale, I'm happy to see that I can pick it up on the big picture sale. Though, why anyone would want to play CS with a controller is beyond me.

Ah, I meant on the pc. I totally forgot Valve made a console version though.

I gotta say it's an interesting way to go. Some people have HTPC's with good video cards inside, some use a TV as their monitor, some like myself have laptops that can game that they hook up to the TV on occasion. I still don't see a huge audience for it though.

Fortunately it's not a brand new company trying to get this going, it's Steam, who probably dumped some cash into it, but not a huge amount, so if it doesn't take off they don't have much to worry about.

For the people who do use it though, that's cool.

That's the cool thing with PC in general, you're rarely splitting the platform, but adding capability to it.

Not to mention the competitive advantage. Steam is now THE gaming platform for HTPC, which I guess means something in the long run profit-wise.

So yeah that Amazon Gold Box day is today.

Just Dance 4 for $22.99 is the all-day deal.

So far Zumba Fitness and Zumba Fitness 2 are the 2 lightning deals. And the next 2 lightning deals are Zumba games too, going by the clues...

Looks like Epic Mickey 2 at 1pm pacific
One of the Need For Speed games at 5pm pacific.

And sounds like some hardware in between and after. Maybe headphones?

I've been specifically avoiding Tiny and Big because I thought it was keyboard only, but now I can press the play button.

I would find more use from them listing which games have support than the big picture interface. It works well, but launching a game when I already have my mouse/keyboard to log into my PC and launch steam is the least of my issues.

I was pretty chuffed to find Steam include an advanced search option for 'Full Controller Support' - sadly, it doesn't appear to actually list all the games that have full controller support. Even the 'Partial Controller Support' doesn't list them all..

For example, Skyrim has Full Controller Support, as far as I know (I don't have to use keyboard or mouse when gaming on the TV, all buttons/menus are remapped to match controller, etc), but steam doesn't list it as having controller support at all, either full, or partial.

Maybe I'm missing something with the search, but I am on the lookout for other 'Couch PC Games'.

I think Full Controller Support means you can use a controller from install forward. I don't think the Skyrim launcher menu is controller enabled so it wouldn't be classified as such.

Gotcha. Thanks for clearning that up.

Then you wouldn't have to spend as much on pet food. You'd be dumb not to eat your cat!

You're right. And not because I'm easily convinced.

The way I see it, he won't need to eat dinner with the new shiny he has to play with.

Also, the cat

Looks like GMG also has a few preorder titles that give a one time voucher good for 35% off your next purchase.

Here is the list of games that give the 35% voucher at GMG

I think most of them can be bought with the 30% off code given above (except Bioshock Infinite, which doesnt look to be accepting codes but does offer $10 cash back or $15 GMG credit if you buy it now).

Dead Island: Riptide for $28!

COMBO X2!

Sim City Limited Edition for $39!

COMBO X3!

Dead Space 3 for $39!

Pro-Tip: Check out with PayPal. That way you'll be charged immediately, which means you'll get your 35% off voucher immediately. All the cool kids are doing it!

Sold out, damnit. Why can't they wait til people get off work?

Shows as in stock for me.

Yeah, I was thinking of picking up Bioshock infinite for $60 (but taking the $15 credit offered by GMG), using the voucher on Tomb Raider and then use that voucher on Dead Space. Its a vicious cycle.

I really wish my gaming budget wasn't gone right now!

Has anyone ordered this and received an email code? They made me pick a shipping address and it is in the "packaging" step of the order.

Edit: Disregard. It took about 30 minutes but I just received the code.

Is that why half the games in my Steam list just went into update mode?

Wow, I have not heard of most of those games, and I love adventure games.
