Video Game Deals Catch-All

If by first person you mean singleplayer, then yes, it is sh*tty. It's a good multiplayer FPS, but I don't think there's a single goodjer playing it.

I own it. I keep meaning to play it. There's still a very active online community, and it's very much a Battlefield game. I like it a lot.

I just keep getting distracted by other, shinier things.

GoGamer.com has a pretty nice 48-hour sale right now.

Isn't the patch for Sim City Societies supposed to really improve it? Tempting for $4.

THe Go Gamer deals are ridiculously good-- I will have to pick up a title or two. I def want to gey Sim City Societies (I remember overall positive info in the conference call about it). Also considering Stranglehold and Prey.

Might have to bite on this one.

Is this game any good? My last RB6 experience still has me soured on this franchise.

It's worth $10. It's a lot like the first RB6:V, if you've played that. It's more action-oriented than previous RB6 games, which I actually appreciated. It's generally a good time but occasionally infuriating.

Stardock's Impulse is having a weekend sale with a few deals including the fun indie game - Gish for $3.99! The others on sale for the same price (none of which I know anything about) are Astral Masters (?), Kudos 2 (life sim), and Tangle Bee (puzzle).

I picked up Astral Masters. It's a Magic: The Gathering type game (developed by the same guy even), without the card buying nonsense. A good deal if you, like me, don't get obsessive about these deck building games but do enjoy them on occasion.

I succumbed to Rainbow Six Vegas 2 at 9.99$

I'd seen it was 50% off but I didn't think it was off 19.99. Thanks for the tip!

For $4 I recommend Sim City: Societies. While it doesn't get the attention that I should give it - given my large virtual stack o' games, with the most recent patch it is quite playable.

Amazon has their Xbox Live 12+1 month subscription cards for $29.97 today. (1/18/09)

That's a pretty good deal if you don't have to pay tax and get the free shipping.

Sounds like a good deal, does anyone know if you can buy this card and just add it on top of whatever is left on your subscription? (say, if you had 6 months left still on your current account)

thanks!

I'm not sure about that, but I do know that you can't add small trials to existing accounts. I'd assume it works the same way.

Either way, you could just buy the card and hold on to it til your current sub runs out.

Yup.

Any Circuit City DeathWatch Deals yet?

I really wanted to pick up Sim Cities-- it sold out before I attempted to pick it up yesterday. I can continue to do without Prey, and had otherwise not heard of Stranglehold. Also, it's odd that GoGamer can exist serving primarily as a PC Games Old Folks Home.

I bought a 12+1 Month XBOX LIVE subscription card fom Amazon last week at 35.00. (Dang, 29.xx is an even better deal, but.... oh well, it's all in the same ball park.)

My annual renewal wasnt up till the summer, but it seemed a good deal, so I pounced. I used the card on Friday and yes, I can confirm that it will add to your current subscription, pushing your next renewal date out by the additional 13 months on the subscription card.

It was all very straightforward.

Now I'm good through most of 2010 to gib you guys. No escaping me now.

Jumped on the Amazon Xbox live deal. That is too good to pass up!

Thanks for the heads up on the Amazon Xbox live deal:)

Drat, I missed out on the Sim City Societies as well. I wanted to get The Movies too, but now with just one game in the cart, tacking on the shipping almost doubles the cost! Inconceivable!

Far Cry 2 (360/PS3) for $30 at Best Buy this week.

EDIT: The 360 Wireless Adapter is supposed to go on sale for $70 at Buy.com in about 2.5 hours from now (Monday Jan 19, 3 AM EST)

Not on a console, no.

If anyone has kids remotely interested in spiderman I recommend Spiderman: Friend or Foe for the PC. I bought it for $2.90 for my 6 y.o. for Christmas and both kids have had alot of fun with it in co-op story mode using Xbox controllers. Now its $2.00. You can't go wrong!

The hint for the next deal on Amazon's gold box sounds like it might be Boom Blox, one of the best Wii games.

The one after is most likely Far Cry 2.

I'd like to echo the question about deals at Circuit City. Has anyone been yet?

Also, if you really want to pick up Sim City Societies on the cheap, you might check out your local Big Lots (If you have those in your area). I picked up my copy of Societies there for 4 dollars, and I've seen it in both of my local stores. Actually, Big Lots in general is a a decent place to find great game deals at times. About a month ago I picked up Universe At War for 6 bucks there.

I got Sim City Societies uber cheap during a GoGamer.com 48 hour madness sale. Truth is, I lost interest in it faster than any previous Sim City game, including vanilla SC4.

Thanks for the gogamer.com deals heads up also. I picked up Spider-Man Friend or Foe, Shadowrun, and the Giants: Citizen Kabuto bundle.

Send them an email. I have had them price-match things in the past.

I did it once or twice in the past. (Halo Kitty helmet I'm looking at you.)

I know they officially ended their 30-day post-order price guarantee policy back in the early fall of 08.

Actually, I guess I'm not going to worry about 5 dollars. I've read they are sticking to their guns on the policy change and I was happy with the price I got.

Unfortunately, there's a little voice in my ear whispering "You might consider another 13 months at that price...." Oh geez.

Here's the voice of reason: Microsoft might wise up somewhere in the next two years and make XBL Gold memberships free. I doubt it, but you never know.

New Star Soccer 4 for $9.95 (50% off).

http://www.gamedujour.com/

Coupon code: gamedujour

I loved NSS 3 (and I really don't like soccer all that much), this looks like a pretty nice upgrade. If you don't know what it is, check it out here.

NSS4 won Game Tunnel's Sports GOTY for 2008. There's even a demo...

Thank you. Yes, I resisted. phew. No need to be paid up till 2012.... that's a bit too much futureproofing.
