Video Game Deals Catch-All

I've heard that the slim PS2s overheat more often because they removed the cooling fans to make it smaller.

I'd heard that, too, and mine did seem to run pretty hot at first. I put it on a little oven rack for a toaster oven and now it can run for at least six hours without getting very warm at all.

Just picked up Universe at War for $6 at Big Lots. YMMV. Good luck.

There's The Ship (complete pack) on Steam for five bucks during this weekend. Never tried it, so this might be a good time.

ARISE!

For our UK friends, apparently Left 4 Dead is £13 cheaper on Amazon than on Steam.

Not really a deal as in saving money, but as I said in another thread 7-11s in the US are breaking release date for Wrath of the Lich King, in that few if any 7-11 employees have a concept of a release date, or of not selling you a product they have behind the shelf.

I'm not sure it's such a big deal. I'm pretty sure that even if you get the box early, the WotLK content is still turned off until launch date. The only real downside is it takes some thunder from the launch events, but it's not like people will be lining up at 7-11 anyway.

Hmm it's tempting, but it's the PS2 original design.

A new PS2 is also only about $50 more, too. I got an original model last year from a friend, and it's nice. But it isn't as cool looking as the slimmer model.

Red Octane has a one day deal for the PS3 Guitar Hero III Les Paul bundle for 40 bucks. I am really tempted to get this. I already have GH3 but only for the PS2. I bought a PS3 during the summer.

It would be nice to have the guitar to play on Rock Band 2. I am not a fan of the RB strat, and when I play guitar on RB I actually use my old guitar from the GH1.

Decisions. Decisions.

Plus, I have no plans on getting GHWT anytime soon.

Great for people planning on buying Too Human this week.

Well that's the darndest, I am actively looking for a bargain on Too Human.

somehow I can't bring myself to pay 50-60$ for it

but i'd pay 30-40 in the blink of an eye

EDIT: I just noticed the dates. I missed that sale. I thought this post was new. Woe is me!

Big Lot's love again. Just picked up QW: Enemy Territory for $6.

This weekend only (11/15-11/16), all Valve releases in 1 pack (including Left 4 dead) $99 on steam - great deal! Also overlord is $10 on steam.

Game (in the UK) is selling:

Fallout 3 (360 version) for £27.99
Far Cry 2 (360 version) for £24.99

Edit: I went for Far Cry 2.

Sins of a Solar Empire 25% off at Impulse. Use coupon code Sins1208.

This is a fantastic RTS that a lot of people have been and continue to play.

Play.com are now offering Far Cry 2, in their exclusive 360 'steel book' edition, for £17.99. It's part of something called 'Monday Mega Deals' so it might only be for today. They are also offering GTA 4 for £17.99.

Amazon.com has Spore for $20. Is it at least a $20 game?

Oh and Amazon has Fallout 3 for £24.45 (tempted) and Fable 2 for £19.57

Hope so since I just picked it up. Seems like the last phase of the game could well be worth that. Dunno.

I don't think so, but I haven't honestly played it either. It seems to be a rush to the last part and take off from there. I'd rather play MOO 2 or Alpha Centauri myself.

Every time I get dragged to Big Lots, I see copies of Darwinia on the shelves. And I cry.

Spore is like a novelty item.

as soon as the novelty wears off...

for me it was 4 hours. I'd felt I'd seen what I wanted to see.

that picture made my day. it's new isnt it?

Amazon.co.uk has Fallout 3 for £19.57. At that price you can't not buy it!! So I didn't..... not... buy it...

Irradiated wastelands here I come.

I just saw a Gamestation ad offering Fallout 3 for £19.99 which is probably the explanation for Amazons sudden and generous price drop on the same game. I think we have a price war happening in the UK at the moment.

Yay for price wars! My favourite kind of war.

I posted this in the Valkyria thread a little while ago but it makes sense to add it here too.

In the UK, Gamestation are currently selling Valkyria Chronicles at half price (£20.00), which is an absolute bargain in my opinion.

Arrgh!

I have an Amazon cart full of games that I think I might want to get myself with money I know I'm getting for Christmas. Fallout 3 has dropped in price, but Ratchet and Clank and Devil May Cry 4 have gone up in price, which means the cart now costs more than it did.

The reason I'm not pulling the trigger yet is because I have $30 too much in my cart-- $38 now, actually-- in the cart, and I have to either wait for a sale or pick a game to not get.

Oh well. I'll probably end up getting the games from a B&M store on a post-Christmas sale rather than buying them online.

Incidentally, Amazon has Bioshock for the PS3 for $45 US. Fallout 3 is also $45.

GAME in the UK has a sale on; Tomb Raider and Mirror's Edge at £25 caught my eye.

Amazon's price on Fallout 3 is no longer valid (I wish they'd give some indication of how long their sales last), but Ciruit City is offering it for $45 on the consoles and $35 on the PC. The console special editions are both down to $60, but the PC special edition is still $70. Only the Xbox 360 versions and the PC collectors editions are available for store pickup. The rest have free shipping.

I didn't hem and haw this time. I have some birthday money and I just ordered it.

If you are unopposed to buying used from Gamefly, they have Devil May Cry 4 for $13. Oddly they charge sales tax, at least in Virginia.

Oops... I didn't want to buy that. Really I was just checking out the deal. I clicked on the checkout button only because I wanted to see what the final amount was. Oh well, looks like I just gave myself an early x-mas present.
