ianunderhill vs. cancer (RIP Nick)

I would love to get a jersey and a sticker.

Same here for the jersey.

Why are we buying cows now, and what are we sticking on them?!?!

sisterunderhill,

My deepest condolences on your loss.

We're sticking air fresheners on the entire state.

They seem to be wanting to honor him in any way they can, so if people want jerseys with his avatar, which is now their FB profile picture, I'm sure they would have no problem organizing getting some made up. Or at least pointing us in the right direction

I want both of these things, for sure.

Would anyone have any troubles with me printing out some "Ian Badges" using that sticker image to go with the Stan badges for PAX Prime?

It's fine by me, go for it.

Thank you. You were the person I was most worried about worrying. I'm glad you're okay with it.

I think since you're an intern now you can use quotes normally

Momgamer- No need to worry about me. I loved him very dearly and am thrilled for people to want to remember him. It makes me feel a little better.

ZaneRockfist- you were asking about a higher resolution image of that logo of his. I think I may have found it, but it's on his photostream... and I've never used that before. Not sure if there is some way to grab the image from there or how you'd do it, but it is there. http://www.flickr.com/photos/nick_ke...

Got it. Thanks, Sister Underhill.

I'll take at least one Holstein, then.

See, because they have patches on them, which is like stickers. And I at least want a sticker.

Sadly, it still says down below that there are No HTML tags allowed. And that filtered words will be replaced. I'm assuming that's why my quotes showed up looking a mess. And why blocked quotes didn't work at allllll.

I emailed the shop today to see if they could offer some guidance. I looked at zazzle and wasn't sure if those would wind up being more like stickers than decals... my biggest fear really was ordering stuff and having it wind up being similar to what I could print here at home, which would look like crap. I had thought about trying to get some heavy duty vinyl ones made, we'll see if I can find somewhere locally that will do that. I asked the shop about jerseys and decals that would be suitable for bikes, whether they were interested in working together to try and get some made, or if they could point me in the right direction, since they honestly would know better than I would how to make that happen. We'll see what comes of it.

That's the same for everyone. That is the default Input Format setting (click on the red word right below the post text box). If you want to use normal HTML, choose "Full HTML".

Proper Quotes are actually BBCode (start by using the button above until you're comfortable with the format). That works in all three Input Format types.

The Filtered Word thing has to do with keeping some rude/hurtful words under down to a dull roar. For example, if you type a certain homophobic slur, it inserts "Certis is Awesome". That happens to everyone too.

Here's a link to the original image: http://farm3.staticflickr.com/2028/2... I saved a copy locally too in case that doesn't work.

I'd like to organize a bike ride in Chicago but I'm getting married in a month and have no idea what days I have free in between then and now. Maybe a night of commiserating? I would like for us Chicagoan goodjers to pull something together.

I didn't know ianunderhill, but seeing so many people I like and respect shaken by the news speaks volumes about his presence here and his character. I'm sad he left so early, and sorry for everyone who knew and loved him. RIP, sir. Shalam Baskur.

double

I would also take a sticker.

I was thinking the same thing, Cabdodger, but unfortunately I'm going to be very busy in the next several weeks, so I wouldn't be able to organize or participate in a group ride any time too soon...

As per Amoebic's request: a picture of Vancouver Goodjers who came out to raise a glass to Nick:

Muttonchop close-up!

I love that spanikopita shirt!

how the HELL! did I miss this.
I didn't know Nick at all except through his posts and mostly his story here.
Nick's Sister, I am sooo sad and sorry for your loss. I'm happy to see you participating here and I hope these silly people can help to make it that bit easier.

Through tears, I'm throwing hugs your way.

Ottawa goodjers, we'll have to raise a glass when we next get together.

Shalalm.

Oh, Edit,

Cancer, f*ck You. Take a big long hard suck on my ass.

Eeeeee! That thumbs up business is just great!!!

I had told Amoebic this story about the last family trip we went on to Orlando-- Nick and I were probably 14 or 15. Well, you know how they take pictures on some rides, right at the perfect moment to catch your looks of absolute horror or forever commemorate you getting completely soaked? Well, Nick managed to ignore those reactionary emotions, and instead focus on figuring out where the camera was. We always went to FL in the winter- the lines were shorter. So then, armed with this knowledge, Nick would go on these photo-producing rides again... We all would. He would wait until riiiiight before the picture was taken, then pose: with a big grin on his face and two enthusiastic thumbs up. Each ride picture our parents bought from that trip had Nick in the same silly pose, while everyone around him looked like fools.

So to see all of those thumbs hoisted in positivity, and those smiling faces, you guys, that seriously just made my day!

There is going to be some sort of memorial in October in Chicago-- really a big celebrant of Nick's life. It will probably be similar to the benefit that was held last year. I will absolutely be there. Wouldn't miss it for anything. I can provide more details if anyone else would like to attend... I get the feeling it will be something pretty big.

Can someone explain the whole spanikopita thing to me? Surely it has another meaning to you all here besides tasty Greek food.

Aaaaand, while I am at it-- planning on getting a permanent tribute to Nick done sometime soon. It will include his 'logo', but I wanted to add a little something, not the traditional 'in loving memory' or dates or anything like that ... Something truly nick. Anything you all can think of? A quote, word he used around here a lot, anything. I am totally open to suggestions.

I'm not sure if there's more to it than this, but the shirt is inspired by a Venture Bros. episode that ianunderhill enjoyed.
