You magnificent bastards!

I might be on late tonight, but I'll likely be having worse consciousness problems than Gumbie. Probably online in the morning.

Circuit City has an awesome deal on Gears 2. Buy the regular or LE edition and receive a free 1600 MS Point card. I'll be jumping on that in a couple hours.

I am look at Toys r Us, they have free $15 gift card - according to CAG...

I can confirm this. Just picked my copy up at the local CC. They were unfortunately out of the point cards in the store, so they're shipping me one instead, which is fine with me.

You guys ever get past the 18th wave?

I seen you guys online late last night. I was playing co-op with the girlfriend last night so I couldn't join in. I'm looking for someone to do online co-op with and we should set up some Horde mode teams if anyone is interested add Inioth 2 to your friends list. Friend me up people. Hopefully the multiplayer will be going strong tonight. See you guys then!

A quick peek at the friends list shows that Inigo and Will3r are on wave 50!!

Throw my bid in once the NXE launches...I somehow updated without permission so I am off LIVE for now. Oh well here I come after the 19th!

I'll be on around 11pm EST. Expect an "inv?" message spam.

fixed.

Defeated level 50 of Horde mode in the first day? That ain't right. it ain't right.

Either they lowered the difficulty level or used the Konami code. We played Horde to 18 last night and got our ass kicked.

We lowered the difficulty. When it was just the 3 of us.

Won't be in tonight - not going out to get my preorder of Gears until tomorrow.

It was great playing with you guys, sorry for leaving so soon, very impressed at will3r and inigo that they were still going strong

I'll be on first thing tomorrow

Still playing but just wanted to note that this game is like Gears of War times 2.

I sent an invite to the Clan Gamer Tag. If anyone is playing this late night (as I study early evening) and see me on, please invite me to some multiplayer. Horde looks especially fun!

Awesome, awesome fun. Awesome!

I don't think I'll be around tomorrow, at least for the most part, but if I get some time I'll pop my head back in. Otherwise, bring on next weekend

I might see you on little big planet. Otherwise good one.

the matches were fun. But it doesn't seem to have that same "anything can happen" charm that Gears 1 had. If its you versus 2 guys - they will win. If its 2 guys versus 3 guys - they will win. The lancer is way overpowered.

Epic - if you want us to use the Lancer, solely, why give us any other weapon. Just call the game LancerFight 2.

Great games all. I had a lot of fun last night. If my drunk ass was annoying, I apologize.

Really? I think the lancer is working the way it should be working. When I shoot a full clip into someone, they should fall. This was never the case in Gears 1. That's why the majority of players did shotgun rushes. There have been so many instances where a guy with a shotgun would run through lancer fire and got close enough to one shot someone. Same thing with enemies being fired upon that are running away; they would actually get away. The improved lancer prevents someone from playing Rambo and succeeding.

This is what I noticed:

Shotgun - Doesn't work as well. Or maybe it works like a shotgun should? It seems like distance matters now and you have to be pretty close to someone to successfully kill them. I can't tell. I haven't been in a lot of close range shotgun fights because of the...

Chainsaw - Overpowered. You need to put significantly more bullets into someone to stop the chainsaw. It's ridiculous. In Gears 1, a few bullets would stop the chainsaw even at close range. Now, if you're close enough to the enemy, nothing will not stop it. Heck, even if the guy is a little farther away gunfire works about half the time. Last night, I chainsawed someone through a guy's flamethrower while on fire. WTF? I enjoyed the chainsaw because it was a risk to use. It took patience and strategy. That made the reward much more satisfying. Now, everyone just seems to be doing chainsaw rushes. :/

Torque Bow - Seems more powerful. A person is more likely to die with a "missed" arrow if it lands near them instead of just taking a lot of damage.

What does everyone else think?

I've always been terrified of your chainsaw in Gears and your flamethrower in TF2. I don't think the sequel changes my opinion.

I do agree that the chainsaw seems to be much easier to use now. I thought that there wasn't as long of a pause for the chainsaw to rev up in the sequel as there was in the original. Or perhaps it was from all the alcohol impairing my perception of time.

I was, actually, lumping the chainsaw part in with the whole overpowered lancer thing. I may have been on a drunken rant and wasn't speaking clearly.

I noticed, especially, on the re-spawn type games that there will be 3 or 4 guys chainsawing each other in a big pile. I'm not saying I don't use it, because I do. Its really effective. Too effective. You know, since you can't really hear someone running up behind you anymore, either.

BTW: I might just be mad that you can't effectively blind fire the shotgun anymore. Many times did I get chainsawed through a shotgun blast. Many times.

It seems the shotgun is underpowered, especially if they're clamping down on the shotgun run/roll. Several times I (or someone I was spectating) shot a foe at point blank range with the shotgun and pretty much nothing happened. Where are my gibs?

The flamethrower isn't as effective as I would hope. It's certainly pretty and fun, but I've outgunned it a few times with just the shotgun.

I personally like the new shotgun. It does decent damage but requires you squarely hit your targets.

The respawn games are pretty decent this time around, especially the ones that prevent one team from respawning (King of the Hill, Guardian). That said, they usually degenerate to chainsawfests on smaller maps.

Sent a friend request to the clan... Just came from costco where the game was $52. Figured it'll be a while before I see it that cheap again.

Mandatory thread title change:

Gears 2 and 2 Much B*tching - Double the QQ, Half the Pew Pew!

Horde mode is an insanely fun time sink. There's something wonderful about completing level 50 and then realizing that it's a quarter to five in the morning (which kind of sucks if you have to be up at eight).

I was interested in the ranking system that gears uses, so I stopped by Epic's forums. Let's just say that it wasn't pretty. At least one whiner posted his YouTube rant: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jv--u...

Well I was almost ready to join you guys last night around 11, only wanted to finish some side quest in Fable 2.

I woke up 3 hours later.

I think I might had too much of that excellent Pinot Noir over dinner.
