NBA 2k14

I resisted the temptation to pick up 2K14 this year hoping we might get a next-gen version on PC this year.

And it looks like that is, in fact, what's happening:

They're also taking that opportunity to charge $60 for the PC version instead of the $30 they have been the last few years.

Pre-order is up on Steam.

Probably buying it on PS4 after how messed up last year's port was.

I was going to use NBA 2K15 and FIFA 15 as an excuse to buy a PS4, but now that the PC is getting fully featured next-gen versions of both, I may wait to see how they turn out.

Of course, I'll need another excuse to buy a PS4.

Yes!

Almost time to move on, fellas. Yakkem!

Dat Ricky Ruby chest pound.

2k14 is still new enough for me I don't feel compelled to buy 2k15...unless they do a lot more for the career mode. I love career mode. I'll wait until after the release hype at least.

I think the physics in 2k14 on PS4 are pretty whacked out. There are times where it doesn't remotely resemble basketball. So I know personally I'll be upgrading to 15. But it feels a bit like extortion.

I'll be a lot slower to get 2k15. The idea of seeing next gen graphics was a big driver for me to buy a PS4 and ultimately I was disappointed due to the coin system tied to the career mode. I'll be happy to hear it's improved but I'll be more cautious this year.

The coin system's been there since 2K13 and is why I still play 2K12 despite its wonky controls.

Some great info on 2K15's MyGM upgrades in this Game Informer article.

Happy to see that they are still spending time & energy on what I still think of as Association Mode—and that they are de-emphasizing VC in this mode.
