Summoner Wars Catch All

Dammit, pacman! So close! Epic game!

I realized the Lioneer angle after my turn, and wished I'd moved my summoner. Things were looking damn good for me as long as you didn't play that. I had two or three turns this game where I realized what I should have done afterwards. Why can't I have those thoughts during my turn?

Protip for other SW noobs like me: Focus on a couple decks until you're good with them. Don't get all discouraged by getting beat eight times in a row with eight different first-time decks.

EDIT: Yep. Archer. That was a great game, Pacman! I really enjoyed it!

Thanks, that was a fun one. I think you got a bit unlucky, you should have killed the archer on your attack, but both rolls missed. If you had killed the archer, I think it might have gone your way, with all three champions out you would have been hard to handle (and I almost didn't see the move with the archer :p ).

Fedaykin - I was pretty sure you had me for most of that game. I was biding my time looking for that lioneer shot the whole game, but you did a good job denying it. I opened way too aggressively in that game and you did a great job beating it back.

Also I think you are mostly right about focusing on one deck/faction to start with. That's what I did with the Jungle Elves, and it has worked out pretty well. The one thing I will say though is that it helps a lot to know what the other side is capable of too, so you probably can't go too wrong either way.

I'm getting brutalized out there, but it's a fun game. Pacman just demolished me oh so elegantly with a death tap from an angel. It was so perfect that I had to laugh.

I still don't know all the various powers, so there are plenty of "wtf?" moments. I can't even calculate how many units I've lost to the Undead Fear trait. They really should have some smoky miasma around units with that ability.

I don't even get how you play the Cloaks. What an odd faction!

Ha! I know what you mean. I keep planning my attack options during the Summon phase, summoning units, then unthinkingly dropping a wall right in front of them and blocking my own carefully laid plans. Then I get to the Move phase and I think "OK, I was going to move this unit there, and then that Fighter right over to--OH FOR THE LOVE OF YOU STUPID MORON..."

thejustinbot: I forfeited after accidentally pulling Elut out of my hand and sacrificing everything on the board. The game would have been yours without doubt.

I'm up for another if you are.

Note to self: Don't play while tired. It's all too easy to do things like the above in a half awake state.

I'm up for more games, if anyone is looking for a partner.

Thank you, Fedaykin, for putting me out of my misery. I do not grok that Scout deck AT ALL. Shoot me an invite and I'll do another game, with some other faction.

Invite sent.

Let me join the chorus of people who are getting steamrolled by Pacman with those Jungle Elves. For as much as I can't wrap my head around them, he and a local friend that loves them prove to me over and over how strong they can be.

Done!

I have three decks I'm fairly comfortable with, a couple I've played a bit, and probably three that are a total mystery.

I think the key to beating the Jungle elves is smart event card use. If you can get him to over-commit and then lay down a combo of events to boost your troops and destroy his front lines, he'll be ripe for a counter-attack.

That, or play the dwarves and rush out that ridiculous champion

Anyone else messing around with Deck Building? I'm putting a new Undead and Cloaks deck through their paces.
Cloaks are by far my favorite faction - I love the versatility, as well as the creativity necessary to win.

Ok. I'm in for FK again.

Pretty much all the decks I am using are altered from the defaults at least a bit. I'm on my third iteration of a Jungle Elves deck, and still not satisfied with one of the champions in it. Miti Mumway is so expensive I almost never use him, but I can't settle on another champion that I like any better. I may try going back to Shikwa but I think she is often too pricey.

I'm fairly comfortable with the Dwarves, Pheonix Elves, and am getting there with the Angels, but count me in the "does not grok the Cloaks" camp.

And I will decline comment on what I think the key to beating the Jungle Elves is

With the Jungle Elves you can either rush out some fantastic commons and use their event cards to shock and awe the opponent. Or you can toss all those to magic and bring out a pretty fearsome trio of champions. My problem is I always end up trying to straddle the line and end up doing nothing cool with them at all.

I'm not even sure who it was against as I think my mind is shutting down from it but I just had Prince Elien take a shot at Vlox with 1 hit point left. Rolled 3 2s and now Prince Fragile is just sitting out in the open like a boss. If only I could have gotten one space closer to burn him for 2 auto damage.

I've got 2 Vanguard decks, one is listed earlier, the other is a mobile strikeforce with Angels, Cavalry Knights, Leah, Archangel and Mav for the champs. I'm still working with the second one to get the strategy and deck honed.

I modded the initial Cloaks deck, and took out all but the starting Gunners for Snipers (zone control) as well as exchanged Dagger for Admiral. Scam and Vlox at the endgame are brutal, provided you have the magic for Scam's special.

I also modded a FK deck, took out all the reapers I could for Cultists, and threw Dragos out for Anica. Seems to be a smoother running deck for me.

So...only a little bit!

I've modded most of my decks at this point. Two FK decks, one with Cultists and one with 10 Archers to just shut down enemy magic. Made a fun PE deck with a lot of the fencers. Though I've never actually gotten Riposte off so I should probably try something new there.

Ok, fed. This is my first match, I haven't even played the tutorial yet.

You're going down perhaps.

Thanks for the games so far everyone, I've been having a great time. I've been going with the strategy of giving every faction a try. Probably not the best for the win percentage, but it does keep things interesting. I have had a blast with the Jungle Elves so far, but really every faction has something that is appealing. Forgotten Kingdom was an unmitigated disaster, though maybe that was just because it was against pacman.

It could happen! I think I've played maybe 10 complete games so far. Really enjoying this game so far.

I've tweaked the Champions of a couple decks, but I haven't found any commons I want to sub in on any. Mind you, I've only looked at the three decks I'm most familiar with.

I'm IHateDRM64 on game center if anyone wants to send me an invite, Although i can't promise any kind of a Challenge as I've only played about seven games in total.

So what's the secret attacking with the Goblin Berserker? I'm playing Dysplastic, I've got the Berserker surrounded by three enemy units, I touch him, they highlight, I drag the number ovewr one card, and only that card gets hit (I rolled a hit and a miss). Something tells me I did this the wrong way, but I'm getting a bit frustrated not knowing the secret handshake for every different special ability.

Left side normal, drag the portrait (Right Side) and it should roll for all 3.

I chant "Left side for everything normal, right side for the specials" before each game

It's a terrible design, though. There should be a confirmation or something. There's a number of details where Playdek seems to have forgotten how to make everything they've learned from Ascension.

Love your username, sending a friend request.

Thanks, i ended up with it when i bought the orange box without reading the fine print.

I'm actually not that fond of it anymore as it sort of implies I'm into piracy, (which I'm not) and now a days the only drm I hate is ubisofts and Games for windows live.

But for what ever reason its stuck,

Hey, I don't know if one day is long enough, so I sent you a 14 day timer instead. I will try not to take 14 days.

That's fine, but I really only play multiplayer on weekends so after today my turns could take awhile.

Good game Natus. I overextended Vlox going for the assassination on Prince Elien and it almost cost me everything.

Yes, yes, Raptor, I saw that coming, and again I was hoping you'd miss-roll. Nice job with the Cloaks, I just can't even begin to comprehend how to make them work.

If someone sent me a friend request with just a real name and no mention of GWJ, could you PM me so I know who you are?

I'm not going to lie. I really dislike Gror.

Good game pacman! I never seemed to be able to get ahead in that one.

athros wrote:

The solution to that is to play more games AS the dwarves, and fewer games AGAINST the dwarves :p

Also, I just wanted to say how much I have been enjoying the games with everyone. This game has really been hitting my sweet spot.
