Did I miss anyone?

I haven't posted yet, but I am willing to throw my hat (and my axe!) into the ring of volunteers. I'm planning to balance play between both PvE and PvP, so will probably end up on Jade Quarry (or the EU server idea if it's both stable and fairly active in off hours WvW).

I'll be working during today's stress test. Would anyone be able to test migrating to an EU server? Hopefully they still have the free gems to use for the transfer.

Gems are not free any more, however, gems bought now can be used and will be refunded when the servers get wiped.

Here is what I came up with for the emblem using the ideas previously posted:

On the other hand, if what you're really after is easy WvW wins because you're on a server that zergs the holy crap out of everything you should probably be spamming "create" on Jade Quarry as fast as you can upon release.

I don't think you understand how WvW really works. The problem of joining a server that is full and then, increasing queue times for WvW entry is a major concern and I understand that. Not sure where you drawing the conclusion that going to Jade Quary will be "easy wins" and that it will be zerged everywhere you go.

Pretty much any server selection will have a zerg going around. The only reason I picked JQ as a WvW server is because there are a lot of guilds there that are used to the RvR system and most of the time they know what they are doing as far as strategies, creating strike teams with smaller guilds to take care of smaller objectives while the big zerg is pushing Stonemist Castle.

And with all that coordination, they will be paired with equivalent ranked servers. In the stress tests, we were paired against the Goons, Reddit and Team Legacy servers. We won a couple matches and lost a few too, so I think it was extremely balanced and the servers that were actually using some form o strategy and better communication between guilds won.

Regarding Jade Quarry, has anyone actually experienced a queue on that server during a BWE or stress test?

My understanding was that even if a server showed as full you would be placed on an overflow server instead of a queue.

The queues that we have seen where all for WvW and PvE content will be moved to overflow servers but WvW instances can fill up and you will have to queue for them. I never ran into a wait beyond 5 mins during the BWEs.

Surely we need a ponycorn theme? Colours interim.

Isn't there some way to come up with an emblem that conjures up the image of a dragon having intimate relations with a motor vehicle?

There are 4 WvW maps. The Eternal Battlegrounds and the 3 Borderland maps you can try to join if one of them is full. The one you will probably find queues most of the time is the central map, Eternal Battlegrounds. The longest I had to wait to join EB in the stress tests was around 30 minutes.

Best I can do is a dragon and a gear, may be too subtle.

Do we need to implement a ban for ideas taken from steam sale threads?

Hey, intra community references help team spirit!

This was the idea I was tossing around for the guild emblem:

IMAGE(http://s18.postimage.org/9ftsnga9l/guildemblem.jpg)

Although I think it would be a good idea to consider moving to a med pop server, I really don't think the NA guild using a EU server is really something that's going to work well for everyone. It really would suck if we ended up segmenting the guild off the bat. What about a med pop NA server, instead?

Does setting your account to an EU server affect monetary settings for the store? I wouldn't want to end up needing to pay for things in Euros.

I'll be there.

TL;DR version: My suggestion - English-speaking EU server or low-population US server.

Explanation: I like the idea of rolling on an English-speaking EU server for PvP. it will definitely make the PvP more interesting. But the point has been raised properly by Elcyion already - if we pick to roll on anything other than a low-population server, we're begging to be locked out by the account population cap. It won't matter if the server will allow people to go into overflow, the real population cap is the number of accounts. So I would wager by August 28th, the high-population servers (including Jade Quarry) will be locked out, and any guild member who wants to participate in PvP with the guild will need to be on a different server. Not exactly condusive to long-term growth.

I understand that within NA the latency you get shouldn't be really affected by the server you're on, but that might not be true if you're trying to connect to an EU server. We should think about this carefully, it could result in a considerably weaker PvP experience.

I can throw my name into the hat and volunteer for officer duty, but my interest for the first few weeks will likely be mostly PvE centric.

As for WvW stuff, since we're likely to be a smaller guild no matter the server we're on, we should probably focus or efforts on building 4-5 person strike teams and see how good we get at hitting supply lines and such. Let the big guilds deal with zerg swarms. This would probably allow us to quickly form up, do something, and feel like we've contributed.

Re: emblem, keep it simple please.

Also, was it just me or was that last stress test kinda crap?

Well by nature they're supposed to be buggy, but I had no issues for the brief time I was on.

My biggest worry with rolling on an EU server is what happens after the inevitable GWJ decline, will there still be enough people on during NA prime time to effectively operate in WvW?

I volunteered in the previous thread if we need more. I'll mostly be on late at night due to my work schedule.

I will be playing and guilding at launch. I often play during the day EST and can be an officer for that time if needed.

I don't know what a GW2 "officer" does. I was kind of a lone wolf in vanilla WoW and stayed away from guilds and that was my latest MMO. I knew they yelled at everyone to get to raids and kept boring spreadsheets of dkp or whatever

If you need someone to invite people I can do it. I doubt I'll be good at organizing large stuff, although I seem to have no problems getting small casual (no set schedules etc) coop groups together in Borderlands, Diablo 3, Terraria, stuff like that.

I'd also vote against going to an EU server, as strategic a thought as that might be -- I'm afraid it may bite us back, hard, both in transatlantic lag and in long-term guild feasibility as membership inevitably dwindles.

As nice a community as it looks like Jade Quarry is shaping up to be, I think there's merit in picking a lesser-populated server, if only so that there's (a) more chance of getting any Goodjer in who wants to join, and (b) less chance of server queues or rubberbanding.

Northern Shiverpeaks seems to be the best medium-pop choice, so far practically all the guilds listing it as their home are WvW focused and there's a big oceanic presence.

Shiverpeaks looks good, and I had great luck with Yak's Bend during the BWEs. I wonder if we could create an survey and let people vote in the next few days? I worry about making changes too close to launch; it just risks further fragmenting the community.

12 of the 20 guilds pre-registered for Northern Shiverpeaks are members of the same Alliance... wow. And those 12 guilds are the only ones listed as WvW focus. If we didn't join that alliance, would we be at any disadvantage?

I don't think it matters if we share servers with a major alliance, we all play for the same side anyway.

I like the idea of a survey, just won't have time to set one up before Saturday myself. If nobody else gets a chance before then I'll do it.

Are we definitely writing off the idea of an EU server? I see the advantages, but the objections make sense.

Leaning towards Northern Shiverpeaks myself.
