Guild Wars 2 Guild organization thread.

*Edit* We are well beyond launch and it has been pointed out to me that the spreadsheet for guild invites is now causing requests to get missed as it is not being checked often. If you are looking for a guild invite just post in this thread. I apologize if this has caused any issues.

Head start: August 25th 00:00 PST (03:00 EST)
Launch: August 28th

GWJ Server: Northern Shiverpeaks

There will be free server transfers during launch. If you do not get on to Northern Shiverpeaks, just roll on an open world and use your free transfer to Northern Shiverpeaks when it is no longer full.

Choosing and Transferring Worlds in Guild Wars 2

When you log in to the game for the first time, you will have the opportunity to pick any available server, or home world. If you choose to select a home world that is in a different region from where you purchased your game, you will be logged out for a short period of time while your account is moved to your new region. Once you have selected a home world, all the characters you create will play on this world and will represent it in our world-versus-world (WvW) format.

While you can change your home world, there is a limit of one world transfer every seven days per account and a charge of 1,800 gems for each transfer. A world transfer moves all of your existing characters to your new home world. Any subsequent characters you create will also play in this new home world.

When Guild Wars 2 launches, you will also have the option to play with your friends on another world with our free “guesting” feature. With guesting, your characters can play on any world where you have friends—with certain restrictions. For instance, you will not be able to participate in WvW while guesting.

For those already planning your characters here is a survey to help see what everyone else is planning to play.

Character Survey

Character Data from the Survey

Also here is a great tool for planning out your characters: GW2skills

Remember to have your character represent the guild in order for us to gain influence. I noticed during the 1st beta weekend that any new character I created started off not representing.

Each player account can belong to multiple guilds. However, each character may only represent one guild at a time; only that guild earns influence from the character's actions. In addition, the character only has access to guild features of the represented guild, notably shared storage, buffs, and guild-wide chat.

To change the guild represented, open the guild panel, choose the "management" tab, select the appropriate guild, and choose "represent."

This is just a preliminary post, I will flush out the original post with more relevant content later tonight and throughout the next couple of weeks as we get closer to launch. We will need to start a list of who is willing to help get the guild going on the 1st night.

I will be up and ready to play right at go live and will spend most of the morning doing whatever is needed to get the guild up and running. I have a birthday party to attend Saturday afternoon but by then we should have enough people established in the guild to handle invites as needed.

I'm in.

As stated in the general thread, I'm happy to help out perhaps as a secondary officer for the morning shift.

Edit: I'm also fine just being rank and file. Where shall I spill my blood today?

Good news. I'm full-time in the game (at headstart) til I'm back teaching in September. I can be an officier if needed (or rank and file with DS).

No interest in an officer role right now, but I'll probably join Tarnished Coast instead of a PvP focused server. I might change my mind between now and release, however.

Looking forward to this.

Less than two weeks Leaning toward Jade.

I should be on for the early start, although I'm on the east coast som I may not still be awake at 3 AM...I should be on by 7 or 8 am though. I'm going to go for Jade Quarry. I can't wait!!

I won't be on until Saturday evening since I have to work. But I'll be on for the rest of the weekend on Jade Quarry. Can't wait for some WvWvW.

I'm up for helping out with getting the guild going. I said in the other GW2 thread that I don't have much interest in PvP and WvWvW right now, but that might change after I try them out. I'm getting my copy via Amazon pre-order (not pre-purchase) and am still waiting for my headstart code, so my availability to help will depend on when I get that.

We should probably pick a 3rd NA server just to be safe as well as a EU server for our overseas members.

I'm on East Coast time and my usual game time will be 6pm-midnight on week days and mornings on weekends, I'll be doing a bit of everything but will mostly be focused on PVE.

I'll probably do the 3am head start to lockdown my server choice and I'll try to stay up an hour or two to help send out the first wave of invites, although hopefully we have a EU officer that can take that first watch till the NA officers wake up Saturday morning. =)

For names I recommend we keep it simple and stick with "Gamers With Jobs" or "Guildies With Jobs" [GWJ] (just checked on http://www.gw2guilds.org and the [GWJ] tag is still open)

After figuring out the initial scheduling for invites and name/server choices, the next big steps will be determining what our rules and requirements will be.

My other guild is setting up on Tarnished Coast as well. I like the idea of WvWvW so I may make Jade my main home and TC my secondary.

Plop me down as tentative grunt.

You can't do that. Your home server is tied to your account. Once you choose one, all of your characters will have that server as their home. If you want to change it, you have to pay for a server transfer (which would then apply to all of your characters).

As far as I understand I am tied to that server if I want to do WVW.
I Can PVE anywhere as a Guest and join any guild on any server.
Unless they changed it again.

Correct. Your server only matters for WvW.

I'm down for Jade Quarry, I am very intrigued by WvWvWvVWVwvwvwvvWVVWing.

I think we should try getting as many EU timezone players (and any Asian ones) on the same server as the NA players so we can help out with a round the clock presence for WvW. Maybe we should pick an EU server as the fallback if JQ and TC fill?

Sadly I won't be doing the headstart, I'll be getting release day delivery and with updates and potential launch day shenanigans and issues I'll probably only be getting online from the 29th or 30th. On the plus side, server choices will be settled, on the negative the first and second choice servers may be locked out, will have to see how it plays out.

Once I'm on though I'm sure I'll be playing a lot so I'm up for helping out for invites, any WvW organisation in the EU time-zones and any other help I can provide.

Isn't that the sound you get when you put a bit of grass between your thumbs and blow through it? Is there a name for that?

Sod Queefing?

Put me down to at least join your guild. I'm not sure if I will tarnished coast with a bunch of my RP friends yet or not but I'm definitely interested.

As good a term as any IMO.

Jade Quarry for me, too, then. Peer Pressure!

I'll sit in at the officer's table, happily. I look forward to playing the game enough to justify this in the short term at least.

Michael, are you going to be able to go on the Conference Call to talk about GW2? It would be good to hear you preaching to the masses if your PR handler (The one who apparently kept you out of Episode 300) allows it.

I should also probably ask, besides myself and Scratched, are there any prospective non-US players lurking around? I'd like to guage what we're looking at in global terms.

I'm going to be making my own guild, at least for the first few days/weeks to see if I can get my own personal guild vault to store stuff in. That should be 500+1000 influence to get started.

If you only want to improve your storage....raising 1500 Influence alone is gonna take 750 dynamic events or 300 pvp wins or 150G.

You're much better off trading gold for gems and buying extra bank tabs.

The Guild vault is more about an easy way to accumulate/share resources amongst guildies than it is about extra storage.

Here http://botorubattalion.com/emblemCreator is a emblem creator.

Nice to see that things are finally starting to come together. Anticipation building.

Thank you, I'll put that in the topic.

I will plan on rolling on Jade Quarry.

In terms of emblem, the anvil+hammer icon might be appropriate, closest job-related icon I could see in the gallery.

Also, here's a thread on guildwars2guru about JQ:

Any of the icons with one of the two "gear" background shapes could get the message across in character.
