Guild Wars 2 Guild organization thread.
*Edit* We are well beyond launch and it has been pointed out to me that the spreadsheet for guild invites is now causing requests to get missed as it is not being checked often. If you are looking for a guild invite just post in this thread. I apologize if this has caused any issues.
Head start: August 25th 00:00 PST (03:00 EST)
Launch: August 28th
GWJ Server: Northern Shiverpeaks
There will be free server transfers during launch. If you do not get on to Northern Shiverpeaks, just roll on an open world and use your free transfer to Northern Shiverpeaks when it is no longer full.
When you log in to the game for the first time, you will have the opportunity to pick any available server, or home world. If you choose to select a home world that is in a different region from where you purchased your game, you will be logged out for a short period of time while your account is moved to your new region. Once you have selected a home world, all the characters you create will play on this world and will represent it in our world-versus-world (WvW) format.
While you can change your home world, there is a limit of one world transfer every seven days per account and a charge of 1,800 gems for each transfer. A world transfer moves all of your existing characters to your new home world. Any subsequent characters you create will also play in this new home world.
When Guild Wars 2 launches, you will also have the option to play with your friends on another world with our free “guesting” feature. With guesting, your characters can play on any world where you have friends—with certain restrictions. For instance, you will not be able to participate in WvW while guesting.
For those already planning your characters here is a survey to help see what everyone else is planning to play.
Also here is a great tool for planning out your characters: GW2skills
Remember to have your character represent the guild in order for us to gain influence. I noticed during the 1st beta weekend that any new character I created started off not representing.
Each player account can belong to multiple guilds. However, each character may only represent one guild at a time; only that guild earns influence from the character's actions. In addition, the character only has access to guild features of the represented guild, notably shared storage, buffs, and guild-wide chat.
To change the guild represented, open the guild panel, choose the "management" tab, select the appropriate guild, and choose "represent."
