I know we have a trade/sales thread going but i've been kicking around the idea in my head of a GWJ gaming pass-it-on thread. The basic idea is that all goodjers have games, some you love, some you don't, and some you wouldn't mind passing along to friends and fellow goodjers. This isn't a trade thread per-se, but a way to pay it forward to the many fine forum folks that are in tough financial spots due to the roller-coaster economy and everyday life.

Unfortunately, freedom isn't free (it costs $1.05) so there are some basic rules i'd like to put in effect:

Rules of the pass-it-on:

1) Participating members must be in good standing with the community.

While I feel the majority of us know many of the regulars, we have a constant influx of coffee grinders and lurkers that are not as well known. We don't want the forum turning into a mad-dash to get a stockpile of free games, that's not the intention and it's the last thing I want to see happen.

2) Any member may refuse to pass-it-on at their discretion.

Again, many of us know one another from on the forums, in games and increasingly in real-life, but not everyone knows everyone else. These are real games that people acquired on their own time and with their own money, so if you constantly drink the haterade and spit it in other members faces, don't expect anything but simple civility from them.

3) The only cost is shipping.

Even generosity needs a helping hand. The only cost to the receiving party should be the cost of shipping/packaging. This cost is at the discretion of the party that is shipping out the game as shipping costs may vary. If you don't think the asking cost is fair, politely refuse and move along.

Those are the basic rules I have in mind. I have other ideas in my head, things like mandating the game be payed forward or returned to the original owner at some point, but i'm not sure if they should be law or simply suggestions. So what do you think? Is there any interest in doing this? Do you have any rule suggestions? Do our mighty overlords give us the a-ok buttpat or the threadlock of doom? I've went ahead and made a public doc you can add your forum name and games you wouldn't mind passing along. At the bottom are tabs denoting the various platforms so things don't get turned into too much of a chaotic mess. If there's a platform not listed, feel free to add it. If you'd like to pass along other types of games (board games, PNP, etc) or gaming related material, feel free to add a separate tab for it at the bottom. I'll add what I have once I have my games in front of me to overview.

Well, soon as my brother gets home from his extended-vacation work thing, I'll sort through my 360 games and see what we have (He sadly owns half of them). Maybe I can add some to the list. I've gotten two things off these fourms in the few years i've been here and i'm sure it would be nice to pay it back, too.

I posted several PC titles and some PS2 and XBox games (to PS3 and 360 category). All PC games have docs and many have boxes. All console games are complete.

I also have a Nintendo 64 console with one controller and a spare A/C + connector cable if anyone wants that.

I'm honestly rather shocked that no one's expressed interest in the FFXIII I have on offer yet. With a guide, even!

I'm waiting until a.) I have money for postage, b.) have something of my own to offer, and c.) have space on the pile for it. I just wanted you to know that things don't always linger out of lack of interest.

OK, finally took 3 minutes to look into my Impulse Account.

User Name AND password can be changed. I'm still poking around to make sure I haven't left any Credit Card info on it.

I'll go through my pile and see what I can part with. I'm also in the mood for some FFXIII, but also want to offer something myself first (I like good karma).

I can list off the top of my head:

Assassin's Creed II (360)
Gears of War 2 (360)
Hellgate London: Collector's Edition (PC)
Black & White (PC, not sure which edition anymore)
Sam & Max: Season One (PC)

I can imagine no one would really want Hellgate London, but I always think about loading it up and playing through the Singleplayer, then talk myself out of it or find something else to do. Still, someone might want it for archival purposes or something. I'll try to officially add these to the list this week (will be kind of busy the next few days).

Oh sorry... went right over my head there.

I think it's still a good question, what's the best/cheapest way to ship a game?

Media mail/Parcel post + a padded mailer from Wal-Mart?

(I tried to ship something Parcel Post yesterday, and it was only $1.50 less than Priority - both USPS.)

I've found First Class via USPS to be the cheapest. Sometimes Media Mail is cheaper, but the last time I did that was sending Mass Effect to Coldstream, and someone along the way noticed the size of the package and the Media Mail stamp and deduced it might be something worth stealing, and he wound up with an empty padded envelope with a slit in the bottom. That may just be an isolated case, though.

Usually, for me, a padded envelope + First Class + tracking number winds up being $3.06 for a typical 360 game in the standard case. Subtract 75-85 cents if you don't get the delivery confirmation.

From the buyer's side, if you already have funds in PayPal, be sure to send them to the seller as a personal gift, so they don't get fees taken out on their end.
