No, I'm definitely seeing the post about revisiting Setsuna with a 360 controller.

Isn't there one after that? I see, like, a space for a post but nothing in it.

Too bad no one bought Setsuna, I'm on the fence.

Right? I need impressions from a GWJer I can trust.

Neptunia V-II is $5 this week on US PSN. Mantid, should I get it?

I did enjoy it. I didn't feel like it was as strong as V, but at $5 I think it's a steal. It's great is you enjoy the Neptunia games, although I didn't feel the new gimmicks and characters (other than the awesome Umizaki) really stuck with me.

See? There it is again.

Ooh, I am Setsuna is on sale for $25 on PSN right now! I should search for some GWJ impressions, there's bound to be some from a few months ago in the thread.

How is Fairy Fencer on the PS4? I see its also on that black friday sale. I bounced off the first two remakes of the neptunia games and the omega quntlet, but I enjoyed the spin off titles from the series.

I still haven't finished Chrono Trigger because I don't want to explore for side quests or grind out XP for the final boss.

Just so you're aware, the endgame sidequests are sign-posted very well by Gaspar in the End of Time. You don't really need to do much in the way of exploring in that game.

I'm aware! Taking breaks from that game, though makes it hard to figure out those clues. It's enough where I just look at walkthroughs and then just get bored enough to not bother. I've gone to the boss battle a couple times and realized I couldn't do it with my equipment/level/powers.

Finally character designs for the Candidates and supporting characters.

I'm most amused by the inclusion of Kiria, an obvious parody of Kirito, Sword Art Online main character, and Kuronekohime, a parody of Kuroyukihime, main female lead of Accel World.

I guess this should technically fall under the "Deals" thread, but it felt more at home here:

The Art of Fire Emblem Awakening from Image Comics is on sale over at Comixology for $9.99. It's gorgeous & has the full script of the game (with every possible outcome).

This might be my personal Black Friday fave.

I kinda stumbled into buying 7th Dragon III after somewhat enjoying the demo and seeing Clock refer to it as a possible Etrian style game for those of us who don't like Etrian.

Very glad I did. The hooks are in deep. Sometimes I worry that I can't love JRPGs like I did as a kid, but now and again I get a gem. I'll give details why I love it when I'm a bit further in (8 hours now) and not typing on my phone.

It's awesome. Keep at it.

I did! I finished it after about 47 hours. I'm on the fence about playing the post-game content.

Needless to say I loved the game. I don't finish many these days, so that's saying something.

I really dig how some of the classes set themselves up, work with others, or both. It's counterintuitive that you get the most complicated classes at the start (duelist and agent are the most complex classes IMO), while you get the simplest toward the end (mage and banisher). I wasn't thrilled with some of them - dual blade samurai and rune knight seem nearly useless outside of being decent fodder for unity attacks, where your backup teams are all allowed one attack. Some of them felt like either afterthoughts or vestigial holdovers from the two prior games in the series that have never seen a domestic release.

The combat throws enough interesting challenges at you to stay fresh, and the supporting cast is memorable. A lot of them are kinda cliche for a very Japanese game, but not in a bothersome way.

The music is fannnnntastic. The dungeon graphics are nice, though the layouts are a bit uninspired. The character animations are generally solid and some just look cool. The dragons generally look fantastic, though there are a few too many palette swaps, particularly late in the game. It's a bit odd that the dragons all have the same purple blob model until they're in combat, but it stopped being jarring after the first dungeon.

So I'm still playing 7th Dragon III. A lot of your points do stick. They are a little bits of hold overs from Etrian( design wise). The dragon is more or less foes/mid bosses. I've been trying to give the Rune Knight their due but they seem to be terrible as your guards for your other crew and don't heal as fast as just agents with the initial increase item effectiveness. The dual swords is decent due to cyclone attack and more skills towards multi enemies.

What is funny is that you can buy the old classes to use in the new game too.

My that looks pretty.

It does, but not as good as the first game.

I'm OK with that if the second game is more fun to play than the first one was.

In all honesty, I'm okay putting Ni no Kuni II on Easy and enjoying the other aspects of the game.

I love being right.

I'm also super glad you enjoyed the game as much as you did.

I think I'm nearing the end of Legend of Legacy. It's been my on again, off again game for awhile now. It defies so many standards of the genre, but it's nonetheless a fun and approachable game. I've really enjoyed my time with it. (It's also pretty short!)

Ni no Kuni II looks less fun to me because it seems like they turned the monster collecting system into a generic action RPG system. I loved collecting all the cute monsters in the first game. It'll probably be more streamlined though.

Ni No Kuni 2 continues the trend of being gorgeous. I really hope they don't continue the trend of having rather pointless, bland combat.

I hear ya, but if sacrificing the monster collecting means substituting in a good combat system, I'll be ok with the trade. Let's hope it does.

Whaaaaaat?!

I didn't realize they were doing that. That's a huge disappointment to me; collecting and leveling/evolving the various monsters is one of my favorite elements of the first game.

I don't think anyone knows for sure yet, but the trailer shows the characters fighting directly rather than their summoned monsters fighting.

Ni No Kuni 2 looks gorgeous, cell shading really stands the test of time for me as well. Going back to the first one recently still had me marveling at the world. I am really happy with the direction it seems to be going. I'm hoping monster collecting is taking a backseat I don't mind if it's there in some form, but I hope it's not the primary mechanic like the first.

There are a few trends I am tired of in Jrpgs now: collecting creatures to fight, realtime (tales series) combat, highschool and modern settings.

I'd really love to go back even for 1 game to a high budget (AAA pushing modern console) turned based, fantasy Rpg. I'll still play the new Persona and love it, and everyone is so positive on the trials games I will probably try them again at some point. FFXV has been amazing so far but even it doesn't scratch my old school rpg itch.
/end rant

To change gears after watching the new Persona trailer and not know a lot about the game. Is the main character a grown up version of the mysterious kid in striped pjs from Persona 4? (I think it was this one anyway) he sure looked like him when he was wearing the same outfit.

No, the mysterious kid in PJs is death incarnate.

Ahh ok thanks. I've never finished a Persona game so had no idea who he was. He does look similar though no? Lol. Maybe I'm crazy.

Totally new character; other than a few cameos, and a few recurring NPCs (Igor, Elizabeth, etc.), almost all of the cast is new from Persona game to Persona game.

I'm holding out hope for the PS4 edition of Dragon Quest XI; I assume from your avatar that you probably are too.

Haha yeah for sure. The videos that have been shown for Dq look amazing and exactly what I want. I hope it actually comes out here.

Are you saying this new Persona game won't have Teddie in it? I don't think I can bear it!
