I'm about June 11th in Persona 4 Golden and I just got to the second world map area in Etrian Odyssey 4. Am I right in assuming that I'm still relatively early into both of these games?

Maybe 33% of the way into P4:G

Ugh. P4:G is killing me. I'm through December and into the new school year, and it just won't end. Why make an extended edition of your game with a bunch of optional content at the end when you can just bake it in and artificially "extend" the story with it?

Shoud've gone for the bad ending.

I already did. And kinda liked it. Probably should have stopped there. Or could have just taken the shrink wrap off my PS2 copy that I bought years ago...

Yeah, that was one of my favorite bad endings ever, because it felt so legitimate. Totally made sense that you would take those actions, in context.

And I would have gotten away with it too, if it hadn't have been for those meddling kids Nanako. D:

Here's news that's surprising to no one at all: Devil Survivor 2: Break Record, which was originally slated for a release this summer, has been delayed to sometime in 2014 for "quality issues". It sounds like Atlus' plan to build essentially an entire second RPG to bundle in with the original has run into some snags. I still have my fingers crossed that it'll be released and localized sometime next year.

Is the name a reference to how many times it has gotten delayed?

Yeah I really want that one. Although the delay might give me time to buy/play the first Overclocked version.

:'( grumbles. I really love the DS games' gameplay and was waiting/hoping for a localization announcement soon on this one.

I'm sure it'll still happen for North America. I'll put money on Summer '14.

I was thinking about this earlier today while going for that second ending:

Pokemon Dream Radar is able to communicate with your save file on Pokemon Black 2 and White 2 on a 3DS system.

I'd be deliriously happy if Break Record included some way to read a save game file off of the original Devil Survivor 2 cartridge.

26 hours into Tales of Vesperia, pretty good story so far, but the grippes are starting to show, the combat is somewhat cluncky when compared to Graces and Xillia, you can't assign specific strategies (like heal only) to individual characters, which creates problems in longer fights where the "healer" blows thru all the TP attacking and when you actually need some health she's out...
Speaking of healers, there is only one viable healer in the game... which is really annoying...

Spoiler:

specially since I'm at the point in the game where they take her away due to story.... skimming the walkthru it looks like i'll be without her for a good chunk of time

also... Judith reminds me of Myuria from star ocean the last hope....both are older (compared to the rest of the crew) and they are both hot elfs...

I though this was an interesting article: Who's in charge of Index now that Sega owns it.

Two interesting tidbits: one, Atlus' parent company is still called Index Corporation, and the Managing Director of Index prior to the acquisition is still in charge. Two, Naoto Hiraoka, the president of Atlus USA, is on the board of directors for Index. That gives me hope that someone over there will speak up in favor of localization and continuing the Atlus brand here in North America, both for Atlus-developed properties and the third-party indies they've published.

On the other hand, if Index is why Atlus has focused on accessibility so much lately and you were hoping for a return to form...this isn't great news.

That presumes that Index is the reason for that, and I'm still not convinced.

I'm not either, hence if. But food for thought

Certainly. I'm just a bit wary of the way gamers often credit developers with all the things they like in a game and blame publishers for everything they don't like.

I will say that Atlus developed and published three of the best games I've played this year, and all the were developed since Index fully absorbed them. I'm okay with business as usual.

Oh man, The Guided Fate Paradox is out tomorrow. When will I ever find the time to play it? Ugh. LIFE!

I will get it... eventually... so many games to play right now..

Ugh. Already? That snuck up on me.

Xenoblade Chronicles, recommendations or advice to steer clear?

Is it even remotely associated with Xenosaga and the Giant Space Robots that I missed out on with the AU JRPG PS2?

It's amazing. Buy it.

Love it. Never finished though. 100+ hours if you want to complete everything. I gave out about 60.

That game used to be so rare in Australia. I think you can now get a PAL uk import from ausgameshop for a more reasonable amount.

My extensive unplayed pile includes it and the PS2 trilogy (NTSC versions of 1/3).

It's one of the games for the Wii that really benefits from Dolphin.

This. Didn't know you came around to amazing though.

If you want to lose about 120 of you hours then by all means...wait...this is the JRPG thread. Get it, it's great. Great story for a JRPG, great visuals for the Wii, large vistas but it has a lot of pop in, great battle system but it needs paradigms. Hmm, when I was playing the game it didn't seem to have so many buts.

Likewise, except I made it to 90+ hours. You'll enjoy it, but don't feel too bad if you don't finish it.

Exactly where I saw it on special. At AU$58, I'm tempted to buy two, and flog the second off on eBay
