Yeah, this game looks super-dope. Shame I can't even register on the website.

Wonder if they'll tweak the combat any. I've been watching vids, but the 1 on 1 looks kind of tedious.

This was pulled directly from my brain.

I've been wondering this same thing. For those of you who've been able to play it, is it fun or rewarding? The world looks great, but also kinda empty. What keeps you wanting to play more?

Its definitely something you could wait on. I don't doubt that this will be a pretty good game at some point, but right now its definitely an alpha. Its lacking features like base building (At no point do I expect this to be minecraft but the developer has said that you will be able to build a base of some kind) and what is there feels under developed.

The main draw right now is the sense of discovery and knowing that you will get to watch as the game evolves over the (I assume) years. And aside from the balance the game doesn't feel broken, and I have to assume that will be one of the first things fixed by the developer.

I'll be futzing around on the server as reek if anyone has the chance to get on. I don't there are really any chat commands so i think its all server wide. Anything i've typed with a / other than /namepet has come up as chat text.

I wouldn't say that it feels empty... There's tons of stuff going on, there just needs to be more variety in what IS going on, and it doesn't help that the world is just SO massive it takes forever to get anywhere.
Nothing that can't be fixed, though.

and it doesn't help that the world is just SO massive it takes forever to get anywhere.

This is very true which is why i hope they do something about the constant pitter patter of your feet. I'm really looking forward to getting out and seeing more of the world once i can mount my sheep.

Anyone else have problems trying to connect to Mantis' server? I put in the address and the game just locks up.

I'm on the server now

i guess i'm the only one that don't really like the blocky minecraft look...

As though normal raccoons weren't bad enough, I stumbled upon a named elite raccoon tonight who was apparently also a necromancer because he kept summoning zombies while we fought. Who would teach a raccoon how to control the forces of darkness?! Why?!

The combat gets a bit faster once you start getting some levels and begin customizing your gear. Boss battles still take a lot of time and maneuvering, but I'm at level 11 now and I can burn through most other mobs pretty quickly.*

Or I underestimate them and immediately die. One or the other.

*it should be noted that I'm playing a Water Mage, though, and they are currently ridiculously overpowered. YMMV.

Nope, you are not.

Game still looks interesting though.

Store is up at the moment.

I was just able to create an account, but then it told me the store was down. Still, progress.

Thanks for that, I was able to to sign up. One less thing to wait for. Then again the waiting part is easy when I'm playing 3D Dot Game Heroes in anticipation. Between it and Ace of Spades, I will be well primed for this voxel-aesthetic RPG game.

I will say that I prefer this style of voxels over Minecraft's textured blocks. There is just something pure about single tone blocks that I really enjoy when playing these games.

God I need this game. C'mon shop, work!

Uh whats the deal with these guys.. why wouldnt they move their registration and storefront to some cloud provider worth a damn that can isolate the DDOS attacks?

Cube World devs talk DDOS, incoming fix

"Being just a small team (my wife and me), we didn't expect such things. We just tried to make our game available in its early state in the best possible way, which is on our homepage, where we can directly communicate with the community and provide patches and updates easily."

They're working their best to try to issue a fix, thankfully.

"Fortunately, we can sell the game outside of the attacks without problems, and, we're now extending our servers and team to handle the remaining issues. We don't have an ETA for this yet."

Step #1 Call Gabe at Valve
Step #2 Sign paperwork
Step #3 Profit.

Yay! Now let me buy the damned thing. I wanna explore this amazing looking world.

I was having real serious lag problems on Mantis' server earlier today. My brother was on and wasn't having the problems..

Mantis- would you expect high latency from the Los Angeles area? Otherwise I'm real curious why I'd be getting lag. My connection's usually rock solid.

I was not seeing it when you mentioned it earlier. Shortly after you disconnected though, I had lag. Disconnecting and reconnecting fixed it for me and I was able to put in a couple more hours without much of an issue. Some chat lag but that was about it.

I would just say that any issues are probably from the game being an alpha and not a problem with your connection.

Nope, I think it's just the server code right now. There are times that the windows like inventory and chat are lagged way out and respond a few seconds later.

[Edit] Arovinhausered!

I doubt there should be any lag to LA. I'm over in the UK and had no lag issues at all.

Thanks to Mantis for hosting the server!

Stylez and I are starting off our latest series of All Together Now with a nearly blind go at this game. I literally had never heard of it until he mentioned it to me on Saturday so when the store came back up, we bought it and jumped in knowing almost nothing. The episode goes up tomorrow. While we look like right twits for a while, I have to admit that this thing really intrigues me.

I alternate from "just a few more minutes, just a few more minutes" to "why the hell am I still playing this"? The combat is crude and unsatisfying (I'm playing a Warrior, maybe it is better as another class), the "quests" are rudimentary and unfulfilling (except for the XP, money and random drops you get from killing dudes; there's nothing else you get for completing a quest), the hyper-aggressive fauna can get annoying, and really there is not all that much to do.

Except....

Except, I used all of my playing time this past long weekend playing it. The sense of exploration is Minecraftian and the sense of progression is real: every level you gain, every better piece of armor, every slightly better weapon is meaningful. You live longer and hit harder. You can do stuff you could not do before.

I cannot wait to see what happens next.

I do admit that whether I play this or not during my down time can hinge on whether someone else is online on the Mantis server... otherwise, I'm not sure I can face it. It's hard enough attacking a boss with multiple players, let alone just one.

I think I need to be more aggressive and seek out single enemies to grind up some XP, otherwise I just spend most of the time running away

Tagging, and hoping the store opens back up. Been watching videos all morning, I don't know how I missed this.

Found a desert biome/new city on LM's server, just take the road west out of Taradara City (the road that starts from the NW corner of the city). It's a slightly harder than the current zone, but not too bad yet.

This is handy for those of us not yet blessed with a copy of the game.
