Cube World: Exploration-based ARPG/Hack-and-Slash

That is some good news. I think almost everybody had come close to giving up on it, even though they were never very good at communication!

Trove is pretty fun, and my 8 year old son loves it but not as much as minecraft. I have played it off and on since Alpha and go back to it once in a while. I played again yesterday as it was the actual release day and it is still fun. I will keep going back to play a little here and there but I don't think it will ever be a "play every day" game for me, unlike Ark: Survival Evolved right now

There are a lot of people who have put a lot of time in and made some amazing worlds, but I just work on my little conerstone (the little patch of customization you take with you to every world) and adventure in the different biomes.

The class selection is pretty varied and fun. You start free to play by choosing one class and you can unlock the rest with in-game money or with real money, and it looks like the new tutorial gives you enough to unlock a second class by the end of it.

So there's been a veritable Twitter storm from the developer this weekend:

My god, nothing for ages and now this. Maybe we'll get a game update soon!

Still daily tweets coming out, but only little snippets of in-game things, no actual dev info

Yeah, this is all kinds of weird feeling. 8 Tweets in the last day and most of them with a screenshot attached. Trying not to get my hopes up, but feeling a lot less cynical now.

EDIT: He has continued to post and the last couple days stepped the number of tweets back up to more than 1 a day. Hard not to get my hopes up. Its also really nice to get a few things each day as I only check twitter once a day.

I was following Wollay long before the game launched. This is pretty typical for him. Glut of information followed by radio silence. Right about the time I'm ready to decide that he's been hit by a bus he posts an update. Rinse and repeat.

It can be utterly infuriating if you let it. I mostly just ignore him and check his site every couple months to see if he's still off the grid.

It so strange to me. Most indie devs would kill for the buzz this game was getting. Getting that back will be very hard. I suppose it really is just a hobby?

3 new tweets in the last couple of days.... maybe we're entering the final 10 years of waiting!

If he keeps going with this trend, we can expect another Tweet or two in around 130 days.

In the meantime, this looks great and I hope it is, indeed coming soon.

Looks more FPS than RPG. but I'll keep an eye on it anyway

So... ehh.. not exactly a lot but, there was this

Sweet mother of God, why is this just now appearing on my radar?! Looking back through the discussion, the dev has apparently been working on this for quite a long time, but I just checked his Twitter feed and he posted a bunch of new stuff last January and some more last month (after a hiatus of a year and a half) and a bit more just a few days ago. Given that I started Creativerse and logged over 500 hours in it while it was still in alpha/beta and found both it, Dragon Quest Builders, and Terraria vastly superior to Minecraft, this may be right up my alley.

Thanks for the thread rez, Omni!

Edit: on the downside, his storefront is down right now with a note that states it will be offline "until the next update". Given some of the discussion in this thread, that could be years from now. Why have you done this to me, Omni?!

WHY?!!!

I'd back away slowly and forget you saw this thread.

It may never come to fruition What I did play back when it was available (I guess I could still play it, but it hasn't changed) was fun though.

It's almost a game in itself spotting the twice-yearly updates.

lol.. I figured this vanished after all the initial hype went nowhere.

I was one of the few that bought it on early access from his store before it got taken down.
haven't played it in a while.

I kind of like how the dev is in both parts an anti-thesis to early access and a first class troll.

(I mean the early internet fun variety, not the new horrible kind of troll of course).
