LEGO Nostalgia

I bought sets three times I think from ebay and got fakes twice from people with 98% positive with large number of transactions. Now that I think about the guy that sold me the real legos was a first time seller. I bought the shredder bike and a tmnt car from him for less than one set would have cost.

I bought a bunch of stuff on Bricklink for D&D and was happy going through them.

I've bought parts from bricklink and brickowl with no problems.

I suspect part of it was that I was not looking for the original box, but was looking for the original manual. That may have weeded out some of the fakes.

Me too. Bought from people with 99 something and got junk. Volume sellers sometimes get crap and likely don't even know it. Or care.

The Solo Lego sets came out, and the Kessel Run Millennium Falcom looks very cool. IMAGE(https://img.purch.com/w/660/aHR0cDovL3d3dy5zcGFjZS5jb20vaW1hZ2VzL2kvMDAwLzA3NC8xNTYvb3JpZ2luYWwvMDAxLWxlZ28tc3RhcndhcnMtbWlsbGVubml1bS1mYWxjb24tMDA3LmpwZw==)

Kinda curious what the new Falcon looks like with the cargo pod removed. It looks like the cargo prongs would look abnormally small

Pictures 4 & 5 on the shop page give you a good idea:

From what i can tell it looks like it ends up being right around the same scale as the old Falcon models (https://shop.lego.com/en-US/Millenni...), which feels a little short and skinny compared to the UCS

I'm not sure what else they can do, but the flaps that left up is a huge negative to me with the Falcon. I wish they'd move on from that design.

That’s part of the play appeal, I think, Garion.

Can’t wait to start my UCS Falcon build.

Years ago I built the Midi scale Millennium Falcon. I do like its design.IMAGE(https://img.bricklink.com/ItemImage/SL/7778-1.png)

The UCS Falcon is gorgeous, but I really have nowhere to display it. In person the Solo Falcon is very bright and really pops out.

That is a clean design.

I’m waiting until I solve the display issue before building the giant UCS one. We really have a long-term project in de-cluttering the house, and this is dependent on that. Plus, I need to get a dust cover for it (which may end up being a piece of cloth that I can whip on and off at will; much cheaper than glass).

I just really started back with LEGOs after moving home and having somewhere to put them and I’m already worried about where to put them with like 7 sets total - most of them Architect sets, so small.

I would never take on something like the Falcon. It’s cool, though.

I bought a house with a lot of rooms back in December so I have a room to myself, for nerdy stuff my wife would prefer I keep out of the common areas. Anyone have recommendations for Lego displays? Preferably budget friendly, we have a child coming in September.

Plexiglass rectangles and electricians tape?

I wouldn't recommend electrical tape for long term, it tends to get gooey and the adhesive rubs off on your hands. Epoxy is probably a better option, just be sure to get big enough clamps.

Wat size sets? Small to medium detolf cabinets from IKEA are nice.

I use the Ikea DETOLF for the sets I want to display and don't want played with, we have 3 of these in the main open plan room of the house. As karmajay said they are good for anything which is not too big.

We also have the two or three of the FJÄLKINGE (or something very similar) in the games/play room for the all the other sets. These are pricier than I remember them being but they are quite large with a surprising amount of depth and I like that they are open on the sides

Huh, $100 is pretty good for a glass cabinet. I might get one or two.

I've wanted a Lego molded T. Rex for quite a while now and finally have it.

A couple years ago I didn't pick up the set from the 1st Jurassic World with the T. Rex because I hated the vehicle it came with and couldn't justify the price just for the dinosaur. Now with the new Jurassic World movie there's a Junior's set with a T. Rex. The price is still pretty steep going by part count, but I like a lot of the parts it does have for custom stuff- especially that printed doorway which may work in a custom Poison Ivy Lair for my Lego Batman stuff. And it comes with a cute baby T. Rex too.

That little baby dino. So cute.

I should probably mention that the baby Dino mold is used in most of this wave of Jurassic World sets with different colors and prints to represent various baby dinosaurs. If there is a set someone is interested in from this line, there’s a good chance it has some variation of the baby figure.

Curse you karma! I just came here to post the same thing. You are too quick.

That's fantastic. I'm glad it can be fitted with power functions.

We just bought a new house, with a spare room that I can display all (some) of my sets. The new house has the same fridge as the old one, except without an ice maker or water dispenser. The plan was to get a new fridge and move that one downstairs, because I think we are more likely to drink water if it’s available.

I sent a pic of the roller coaster to my wife, and she said I could buy it if we didn’t buy a new fridge.

Actually, she first asked how much, and I replied “a lot.”

I think we might not be getting a fridge.

Oh my...
