Corporate Poker - A New Game - I just had a dream about this.

Had a very interesting dream. It’s called Corporate Poker. It’s a new game. In a way it’s like hunger games of poker, but likely no one dies.

The game works the same as Texas hold em. The players still have the same cards from a single deck with their money when the game starts. Now the twist.

Up to three different decks of cards can be introduced to the game at any time based on an equal number of corporate sponsors. The word corporate does not mean company, it means outside cash that wants to bet on the game.

At any time an equal amount of corporate players can enter the game. Each one has to sponsor a player on the table. The number of corporate sponsors must equal the number of players. The players will not know who the sponsors are. They will only be told the new amount of cash they have, the modifiers to the betting and the number of cards and color of cards they will be playing. This will also change what makes up a winning hand. There will be new sets of winning hands based on the number of cards and the color of the decks. The suit of certain winning hands will now matter whereas in current hold em it may not (i.e. six of a kind can be won by a higher set of six of a kind if there are more of that card at a higher suit).

Based on the size of the blinds, the sponsors modify that by a specific amount based on a set game rule of how much it can be multiplied additionally impacted by the number of cards they want to buy.

If the game is a $50 / $100 blind game the modifier for cash is at a 5x, 10x, 20x or 50x rate (or whatever is decided before hand). Each additional card that is give to each player makes the modifier go up to the next level. It can just as easily be 1x, 2x, 3x, 4x or 5x (I haven’t worked this out well, I literally just woke up with this idea).

This will have a direct impact to the minimum and maximum allowed to be bet. This is never an all in game so there is a set amount of raises allowed similar to how a limit game works now.

If it is a heads up game there would be two sponsors and two players. There will still be the same number of community cards, but the number of hole cards for each player will increase.

This will directly change what the type of a winning hand could be. A royal flush would still (in theory) be the top hand, but it would go nine to ace with one additional card. But, it would be beat by five of a kind, as long as the fifth card is suited with a card that is a higher suit than the suit of the opposing players royal flush (it gets complicated from here, so I won’t go into detail).

If the player accepts to play with corporate money, they most play. If they choose to play with the corporate money they cannot fold, but they can opt out. If they opt out then the play the hand as the corporate player wants and the real player loses all of his money. If a player opts out the corporate sponsor can override the players decision on how to bet.

If they opt in, they can play the hand any way they want and they get to keep a percentage of the corporate players cash that is agreed upon at each entry of a corporate sponsor. There is no expectation of a fast game since there are many outside forces in play now. There will be set time frames to make decisions or it always defaults to the player and the player is not penalized on a master index board for winning or losing if the corporate timer expires.

Each set of corporate players can have their own new and additional deck thrown into the game. Up to three different sets of corporate players can join the game.

In theory this would give a player up to 15 more hole cards to make a hand. Betting still flows the same way it’s the types of hands the change what is a winning hand and what isn’t. And, how the player acts or bets by opting in or opting out of the game. There is no folding in the game unless the player opts out and the corporate sponsor folds after that.

Yes this was in a dream. Lots of things to think about.
